Favorite Christmas song

The Monkees (from the 60's) sang a wonderful Christmas Carol that is a traditional song from Spain called "Riu Riu Chiu". If you YOUTUBE it, its worth hearing. Mickey Dolenz sounds hot speaking spanish. :thumbsup2

Lyrics:
Riu riu chiu, la guarda ribera;
Dios guardo el lobo de nuestra cordera,
Dios guardo el lobo de neustra cordera.

El lobo rabioso la quiso morder,
Mas Dios poderoso la supo defender;
Quisola hazer que no pudiese pecar,
Ni aun original esta Virgen no tuviera.

Riu, riu chiu...

Este qu'es nacido es el gran monarca,
Christo patriarca de carne vestido;
Hemos redemido con se hazer chiquito,
Aunqu'era infinito, finito se hiziera.

Riu, riu chiu...

Translated:

River, roaring river, guard our homes in safety,
God has kept the black wolf from our lamb, our Lady.
God has kept the black wolf from our lamb, our Lady.

Raging mad to bite her, there the wolf did steal,
But our God Almighty defended her with zeal.
Pure He wished to keep Her so She could never sin,
That first sin of man never touched the Virgin sainted.

River, roaring river...

He who's now begotten is our mighty Monarch,
Christ, our Holy Father, in human flesh embodied.
He has brough atonement by being born so humble,
Though He is immortal, as mortal was created.

River, roaring river...

O Holy Night. I really like Kelly Clarkson's accapella version, I get chills everytime.

Oh If I must pick!

For a Hymn/Traditional tune it's got to be "O' Holy Night"

For Secular Probably "Baby it's cold out side" tide with "Chestnuts roasting"

For Comedy "The hat I got for Christmas is too big"

"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," by Andy Williams

Hark the Herald Angels sing - Neil Diamond
It is His Birthday - Oak Ridge Boys

and I can pretty much listen to anyone's rendition of O Holy Night :goodvibes

Favorite Christmas album is without a doubt Vince Guaraldi's score for A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Favorite song is Fairytale of New York by the Pogues. Makes me cry every time.

To sing, my favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night". The look on everyone's faces when i hit the high note at the end is priceless, hehe. To listen to, it's "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole or "Carol Of The Bells" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra with Metallica.

I don't know if it's my favorite ever, but I really like "Love Came Down at Christmas" by Shawn Colvin (on her "Holiday Songs and Lullabies" album) ...

I have a nice memory of holding my niece when she was just a baby, in her fuzzy red christmas pjs, kind of swaying-dancing in front of the christmas tree at twilight, in front of the window. The lights were twinkling, and that song playing, it was just us two, and she looked so delighted and happy. I got all weepy at the time... I knew right away it was a memory I'd have for a long time!

I just got the warm fuzzies thinking about it. Sigh! I'm a sap.

"Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Last Christmas," and "Fairytale of New York" for slightly less traditional songs. For more traditional songs, I love "O Holy Night" and "O Come O Come Emmanuel."

"Let There Be Peace On Earth" - Vince Gill and his DD Jenny :thumbsup2

I also like "In the Bleak Midwinter". If you can't tell, I'm a fan of "Early Music" Christmas music. A great album is Loreena McKennitt's "A Midwinter's Night Dream".

It's an instrumental (though most of the track's on that CD have vocals), but here's McKennitt's redition of "Bleak Midwinter".

Other awesome tracks by McKennitt include a haunting version of "The Holly and the Ivy", and another favorite "Good King Wenceslas"

Oh that's too funny, I was going to suggest Loreena McKennitt to you. I was actually listening to it while I was typing my last post. Great minds, eh? :thumbsup2

O Holy Night - especially Tevin Campbells version!

And...the entire Osmond Christmas Album. The holidays are not the same without it.

White Christmas- I like the version by The Drifters the best.
Santa Baby
Baby It's Cold Outside
