Favorite Christmas song

For religious-Silent Night. I cannot sing that song without tearing up. Don't sit next to me at Candlelight when they sing it!!

For favorite comic song,it has to be Dominic the Christmas Donkey sung by Lou Monte.

Little St. Nick and Santa Claus is Coming to Town by the Beach boys.

LSN is my ringtone right now :)

Kenny Rogers "Mary Did You Know".

I love "Mary Did You Know?"-Both to sing but I prefer listening to Mark Lowry (the writer)

I haven't been able to find the full version of "Children Go Where I Send Thee"...my daughter sang it 15 years ago and I loved it!

New releases: "I Need A Silent Night" by Amy Grant

I love most Holiday songs....a few I detest.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". I also really like "It's Begining to Look a lot Like Christmas" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

O Holy Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, and Little Drummer Boy. All sung by Josh Groban. :)

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel without a doubt. Hard to find though and you don't hear it often.

I also like masters in this hall if I can find an arrangement I like.

In Like A Lion (Always Winter) by Relient K is my favorite ever. :) For me it's because of its distinct Narnian ties, but it's also just a beautiful, beautiful song.

And though I am a huge fan of traditional Christmas music, the rocker in me sometimes needs something different. Some alternative rock remakes or original songs that I love include:

Jingle Bell Rock by Thousand Foot Krutch
Misfit Toys and Wrought on This Holiday's Eve by Project 86
Carol of the Bells by August Burns Red
It's Christmas Time by KJ-52

And of course who can forget the Weird Al Yankovic classics: The Night Santa Went Crazy and Christmas at Ground Zero. ;)

I just had this conversation with my DH while we were watching Glee. How funny. Mine is Oh Holy Night. I also love Do They Know It's Christmas and this one by Bryan Adams-I can't remember the name. Anyone?? DH said Little St Nick.

O Holy Night

Charlie Bqown Song Chriatmas Time

And Baby its cold outside (Louis JORDAN ELLA FITZGERALD VERSION i THINK IS THE BEST)

The Monkees (from the 60's) sang a wonderful Christmas Carol that is a traditional song from Spain called "Riu Riu Chiu". If you YOUTUBE it, its worth hearing. Mickey Dolenz sounds hot speaking spanish. :thumbsup2

This is a Spanish madrigal from the Renaissance - I have sang it in choir before. I didn't know the Monkees did a version of it.

Check out this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uNh82VT3q4 (sung by the all-male acappella ensemble Chanticleer).

That was great - what amazing voices!

ETA: I checked out the Monkees version - wow I'm quite impressed, they did a really great job of that.

I have two favorites. Do You Hear What I Hear? And Christmas Cannon by TSO.

Mine are:
"O Holy Night" - gives me goosebumps everytime.
"Merry Christmas, Baby"- kind of a "naughty" Christmas song :rolleyes1
"Santa Baby"- silly and fun
"The Nutcracker Suite"- I can't think of Christmas and not think of the Nutcracker ballet.

One of my favorite songs (Christmas related) Jimmy Fallon's "Snowball"-it's about a snowday and a snowball fight. The chorus goes.. "Snowball, Snowball, Snowball fight!" It's a riot.:cutie:

I enjoy many of the traditional/classic christmas songs and carols. However, Dominick The Donkey makes me chuckle every time. Hee haw, hee haw.

i like the christmas song by the chipmunks :) and next one after that would be war is over(let there be peace)

Anything off Twisted Christmas (Bob Rivers) and the South Park cd for the silly and anything Josh Groban sings for classics.

I love "That Spirit of Christmas" by Ray Charles (Nat Lampoon's Christmas), "Christmas Canon in D" (Canon in D is my fave classical song, too), and mostly all the Christmas hymns; attending church in Dec is extra wonderful because we usually get to belt out a few Christmas songs (no one "lets" me belt them out on my own lol).

On the funny side, I love "12 Pains of Christmas" (my DH is the #2 guy) and "Nuttin' for Christmas".

All the "kids'" songs are great, too, I adore it when my sons walk around singing them - it really enhances the spirit for me. ;-)
