Favorite Baby Names

Gwenneth Paltrow just named her baby daughter Apple. Yes, her first name is Apple. Now that's unique!

I like Moira for a girl and Elliot for a boy but I'm a little biased. ;)

I also like Sophia for a girl and Gavin, Noel (Nole), & Liam for a boy.

My aunt who is having her baby on the 1st, won't tell the names they're thinking of  don't ask me WHY!
Well, that's because if they say their choices before the kid is born, folks who don't like it will say so and try to talk them out of it. If they wait until the name is announced, those who don't like it will politely (hopefully) bite their tongue and the new parents won't have to hear of anyone possibly disliking the name...

Also, maybe they're trying to surprise someone by naming the child after them? Just a possibility, but people I know who've done if have been for the first reason....

As for the original question, I like traditional names. The trendy ones get dated after a few years.....When I was in elementary school there were LOTS of girls named Tiffany and Heather....but few these days....so you could easily guess a Tiffany was born in the mid-70's....

We used traditional, family names....Abigail Grace and Walter Kelly. I was (and am still) somewhat upset that Abigail has become rather popular in the last few years, but at least it's still traditional.... DH and I decided on it before we were even married  10 years ago....and didn't want to discard it because it's popular again....

Other girl favorites...Caroline, Katherine, Madeleine, and the "trendiest" name we considered was Zoe, but it's an old family name, too!!

Boys....we used the one name we loved....Walter! Seems stodgy to some, but "Walt" actually wears that shorter name well ::yes:: He's also known as Buddy to his mom and sister.... If we end up having another boy....who knows what we'd use?! "Nash" is a family name as well, but was discarded due to the TV show....didn't want anyone thinking I named my kid after a Don Johnson character...

I do like somewhat traditional names, growing up with a name like QUEENIE, it was tough...kids can be cruel sometimes, so I wouldn't want my kids to go through that.

But I do like for girls: MADISON, PEYTON, and HAILEY

For boys: TIMOTHY, DYLAN, JUSTIN

DanceBabe16,
I tried to get my DH to name our DD Holland(6mos) Cadence, but he said NO. I also tried Hastings. I waited until he went to Iraq to decide on Holland. ;) I spelled her middle name Elisabeth since I hate writing cursive z's.

Really? That's awesome...I've never known anyone who also wanted to name their child Cadence! I dated a dummer who was also the drum captain of our school's marching band and they'd always play their drum cadences before games and in the stands...I've loved the "name" ever since. I decided on Elisabeth with an "s" because it has my name in it: eLISAbeth.

PS - Holland is a beautiful name!

I, obviously, like the name Avery Elizabeth. :)

If we have another baby it will be Elise Claire for a girl.
If it is a boy it will either be Lucas Tyler or Sebastian ??.

No one can steal my names now! ;) :D

My DD has an unusual name and likes it. It is Breckan Hope. Breckan sounds just as it's spelled.

So far Ive had a

Maison Aleque
Maegan Aleize
Morgan Alexis
Kristopher Jake
Kylie Nickole
Brecklyn McKenna

My next little girl will be named Mikayla McKenzie, next boy either Kristopher Alexander or Kristopher Anthony

In our family all the boys are named Kristopher and they go by their middle name-

-em

Noel (Nole)
Hey, my DH had an uncle Noel who died in the Vietnam war. I love that name too!

My fav's are Jessica, Devan(Boy) and Hayley...(so I used them to name my children;))

I also like Madison, Bryce and Bailey for girls.
and, Benjamin and Luca for boys...

I like the name Hope Ellen for a girl....... my kids are Megan Alyssa and Jonathan Timothy (Jack for a nickname).

I like more traditional names...

My DS is named Jackson Adam. At the time I rarely heard the name Jackson, now I do hear it quite often. That's OK, I still like it...it really "fits" him.
Adam....I have loved for years!

Other boys names I like are: David, Scott, Tanner, Daniel, Nicholas, Benjamin, Kevin, Connor, Travis & Patrick

Girls: Jessica, Isabella, Kayla, Katrina, Danielle, Karli

I like them not too traditional, but not too crazy either.
My kids are Cameron Austin and Colton Ryan. If I had a girl she would have been Kylie Ariel.

Others that I like

Kyra
Madison
Hannah
Paige

Dylan
Hunter
Carter
Connor

Well, two of my favorite girl names I used! (Hannah and Rebecca).. my favorites are:

GIRL: Hannah, Rebecca, Megan, Olivia, Sarah, Jayne, and Amanda
BOYS: Frederick, Jack, Tyler, Andrew, Matthew, and Ryan

My sons are Cameron Paul and Douglas Robert. Paul is DH's middle name too, and there is a Robert as a first or middle name for 4 generations in my family. We just really liked the names Cameron and Douglas. I like names you can shorten to something else- Cam and Doug. My name is Ann, and I think it's just awful.

Ann:earsgirl:

My kids are...

Abigail Rayne
Gary Gene

Other choices were:

Avery Layne
Olivia Grace

Joshua Thomas
Alexander Robert

I kind of fall in the middle. I love "different" names for girls, which is how my DDs ended up Ashlynn Jayne and Maiya Victoria. But I prefer traditional names for boys (not that I will ever get to use any of them). Some of my favorite boys names are: Jacob, Joshua, Zachary and Issac.

My boys are Luke and Drew. Had I had another boy I would have named him Jack. I like simple names for boys.

For girls I like Ava, Claire, Brooke, Kendall, Lili, Lauren. Those were all names that I thought of when we didn't know if we were having boys or girls.

My first girl is going to be named Samantha Elisabeth

For a boy I don't really know what I would name him. I have thought of some and been like ohh I really like that but never wrote it down so of course I don't remember lol

DH and I were just going through this last night. I don't want a name that's too different, but I also don't want a name so popular that there's two or three per classroom.

For a girl, I like Carolina (pronounced Caroleena), but DH says everyone will pronounce it like North or South Carolina, so no. I like Helen, and I used to like Emma before it became one of the top five most popular names for the second year running AND the name of Jennifer Aniston's sitcom baby! That did it for me on that one. I like Greta but we named a cat Greta already. I also like Quinn.

However, we have decided on Joely for a girl.

For a boy, I've always wanted to name a son Jack. JAck Henry to be exact. Not John, not Jonathan, but Jack. I also like Christopher, but now I know a Christopher who just deluded enough to think we named the kid after him, so no. I also like Caleb, Elliot, Elijah (shortened to Eli), Jonah and Joshua.

For me, it seems harder to get a boys name that is not too popular or over the top. There are so many Hunters, Tylers, etc. that I won't go there. And the most popular boys name for the second year in a row is Jacob.
