Favorite adhesive?

I am working on my programs, menu cards, table cards, etc. and have pieces of cardstock that I will be gluing together. I like the ease of a glue stick but the last time I used one, a hundred years ago, they didn't stick very well. I was just wondering what adhesive people have used that they feel works nicely and makes things look professional. This also includes adding little touches like ribbon or flowers or whatnot. Thanks!

I've scrapbooked for years and have a couple that I love. For flat items like invitations, programs, etc. I recommend a tape runner. They come in a case that you just run along whatever you're attaching. You can use very little; it's permanent and goes a long way. You can find them in the scrapbook adhesive aisle of Michael's or Joann's.

For things like ribbon, flowers or anything dimensional, I like Glue Dots. They're little circles of adhesive that hold heavier things really well. Michael's sells them in their aisle full of regular adhesives.

Glue dots! They are fantastic! When the people selling me my invitations tried to charge me for glue dots I thought they were crazy and thought "I can make my own glue dots thank you very much" thinking it was just using elmer glue and dotting it on paper.

Glue dots are so much better than that and so fun to use! You just stick, press, peal and you are done! They sell them at all craft stores.

I love tape runners too! For gluing cardstock together, I use Spray Mount or Photo Mount adhesive because it easily covers the entire surface.

I use glue dots but I've heard good things about spray adhesive too. I'll have to look into the tape runner although I've used things like them at work and had trouble (they were huge though..not the kind for little projects).

I'd recommend getting permanent rather than repositionable.

I never knew about the tape runner. Wish I had known before I did my 50 door hangers!

But will definitely go buy one for other paper crafting I have yet to do.

The glue dots are very cool too.

I used good old rubber cement. It was so quick and easy. No bumps and anything that comes out the sides came off cleanly and easily with a little rubbing.

The only thing to be aware of with rubber cement is if you're making something you want to keep (invitation, program, etc.) it will yellow and eventually discolor paper items.
