Fastpass selection help - FROZEN or Soarin?

For sure, if you want to do both, I would grab the FP for FEA, and then do Soarin' at Rope Drop. You can easily ride Soarin' with a less than 20 minute wait at the beginning of the day.

As for holding an FP until 8:00, while it is true that does keep you from getting a 4th FP, to be honest, there isn't much in EP worth getting FP for, aside from Frozen, Soarin' (and you'll have already done both of those) and Test Track, which likely won't have any FP left by the time you are able to get your 4th, so not much of a loss if you have an FEA FP at 8:00.

Soarin has at times much shorter standby times. FP FEA if you must ride that ( IMO most overated ride at Disney).
This is the only girly/ princess ride and there is still the Frozen craze this is why it‘s a must do for many.

Check also day of if earlier FPs open up. Or as PP rope drop Soarin. That is not as crazy as FEA.

Honestly, you are going to be ok with either option. Soarin will be a walk on at ropedrop. You probably will be able to ride it twice with little wait. Just depends if you want to walk all the way out to Frozen at ropedrop?

FEA is so overrated IMO. Did it once and couldn't care less if I ever did it again. Soarin' never gets old.

Get Frozen. When I was there earlier this month I could get Soarin at almost any time I wanted day of.

Take the Soarin’ FPs at midday, then make two “throwaway” FPs for earlier times. After you check in for Soarin, get on MDE and look for Frozen FPs later in the day.

We actually did Epcot today. We had an 8:10 breakfast reservation for Garden grill. We were seated by about 8am. Our waiter asked if we had fp for Soarin. I told him no that we wanted to ride before rope drop. He said that they open Soarin early for breakfast guests. We didn't rush through breakfast, saw all the characters, then made our way down to Soarin and we were in the first flight. Then we hightailed it over to Frozen amid the madness of the half marathon. Got some mis informaion from CMs about how to get around the runners and walked way out of the way. Finally made it to Frozen at about 9:15. We only waited about 15 minutes. Our fp was for Test Track and we were able to get another fp for Soarin later. So, that is an option too. During all my fp refreshing today I found Soarin numerous times but I never saw FEA.

Soarin' is much easier to get an on the day FP for, so it really depends on how willing you are to do some quick walking around the Norway at rope drop. We rode Frozen at ropedrop last year because I'd not been able to get a FP and waited for maybe 15 minutes. We were then able to get back to FW, ride Soarin' with only a short wait and still had a Soarin' FP for later that day.
I won't be bothering to ride Frozen again this year! (it's okay, it's just not worth using up a FP/walking miles at ropedrop for, IMO)

My younger daughter and I did a last minute trip last year. No FP at all were left for Frozen. So we took Soarin passes and got on Frozen after Illuminations on Evening Extra Magic Hour night. It wasn't too bad of a wait when they were scanning and only admitting resort guests. Many resort guests must have already been on it, and those with younger kids were probably calling it an earlier night.

This year we're going to during Spring Break with all 4 of us in the family. My other daughter hasn't seen FEA yet and is super excited for it, so I'll probably get FEA passes if I can and rope drop Soarin, even though the Soarin rope drop stampede makes one of my children quite anxious

Actually, from our experience, there has not been a park where we were not able to get FP+ for a good ride (except HS, the only interesting things we could get it for were Muppet Vision 3D and the great movie ride but not the more main rides). Epcot day, our last FP+ was for Soarin’ 11-12 and we were able to get a Test Track Fastpass.

When we were there over Spring Break I had a FP for frozen and after we had used all three I was able to go on and get one for Soarin. It was right away too, like I booked it and then we started walking over.

That said, depending on how old your kids are, I would personally prefer Soarin. When we are there next month I planned Soarin as a FP and then we will head to World Showcase and I will go on and try to get one for Frozen.

Guess what! We are going WITHOUT kids for the first time ever! Our kids are in college and will be back in school by the time we go. Don't feel too sorry for them though, we did take them to WDW 5 times, over the years. We will be in FL for 5 days, but only taking 1 day to do a Disney park and we chose Epcot. We are staying on property as we have enough Disney Visa Reward points/dollars for it to be FREE and our 1 day park tickets are FREE too! I am looking forward to doing some of the things we never seemed to have enough time to do on past trips .... other resorts and restaurants, more off-property activities, shopping, a beach, etc. We can't wait!

I decided to go with the Soarin' FPs and try to rope drop FEA. If FEA doesn't happen, it isn't the end of the world. We'll still have fun anyway. Thanks for all of your thoughts! :)

Lucky you to get on FEA during the later hour! We are not lucky enough to have our day at Epcot fall on at EMH day. Oh, well. What will be, will be!

Sorry, I edited my post... I had a brain fart and misread. My bad, sorry. =)

SO glad to know it opens early! I would not have guess it. Thanks to you and everyone else for passing this info along!!

I agree with PP that Soarin is a much better ride. However, the standby waits for Frozen are INSANE. If you want to ride Frozen, get the FP for it. This is what I do, since I like to ride everything. I ropedrop Soarin. Even if you aren't at the very front of the line, the wait times then are reasonable. Since I ride Test Track as well, I use the single rider line for that after riding Soarin (and maybe Living with the Land, since its in the same building). Single rider for Test Track before 10 am is ALWAYS short, in my experience.

That has not been our experience in Epcot during our August trips. MK we have found pretty good availability for FP+ number 4 and more, but EP I don't believe I've ever seen Test Track available as FP 4.

It never ceases to amaze me how two different people will have completely different experiences in Disney like this.

The last two times we have been at WDW we have been able to get Soarin' FPs as fourth FPs (party of four). For our upcoming trip I decided to get Frozen FPs (late morning) and do Soarin' before our Garden Grill breakfast at 9:45.

If you feel you need to ride both, I would do it the other way. You almost certainly will not be able to get a same day FEA FP+, but that is not true for Soarin'. Worst case scenario, you will have to do stand-by for one of them, and I would much rather wait for Soarin' than FEA. FEA also breaks down frequently. I would hate to stand in line for an hour only to have it shut down.
