As our toddler is young enough for a free entry into WDW, will he be able to get onto some attractions with us if we use fastpass, or will one of us have to sacrifice our own for him?

You can only get a fastpass with a ticket. If he has no ticket he can go on anything as long as he's big enough :)

I mean he doesn't need a ticket to ride so should be able to go on with you no problem since there's no way he could get a fastpass.

toddlers who don't require admission tickets, also don't require fastpasses.

the toddler just goes into the FP with the adult (who does need a FP).

We went last oct with pur twins and they came on all the rides with our first passes even toy story mania! One thing we did was use the child swap fastpass which is really good

One parent goes to line and asks for child swap they get given a fast pass to use once you have finished riding the ride, it then lets you and four others in so really good to use
