Fastpass for Illuminations

First time booking fastpasses online and noticed fastpass option for illuminations - Not understanding what the fastpass would do for you - can't you watch from anywhere?

Yes, you can watch from almost anywhere. The FP+ reservation gets you into a specially reserved area - as I recall, that's between the two gift shops that are located directly across the lagoon from the American Pavilion. It's a very nice view and you have an excellent view of the Globe. If you need to exit the main gate to the parking areas or monorail, after the show, that location also gives you a bit of a head start compared to those scattered around the lagoon.

Only you can decide if it's worth using your Tier 1 entitlement - you can't get additional FP+ reservations until the window has passed for the first 3. That means you will be using the standby line for Test Track, Soarin' & Frozen. My personal opinion is that there are quite a few good viewing areas around the lagoon. I don't mind camping out a bit to get one of those spots if it means I can use FP+ to abois a long standby line for another Tier 1 attraction. YMMV.
