Just returned from our first DVC trip. Part of the promotion when we purchased was that we'd get 10 of these cards that allow you 3 instant fastpasses per card.

Suffice it to say, we loved having those cards. Is there any other way to get them? I'm assuming they aren't available for purchase or that would be offered somewhere, but is there any other way to get them (outside of, say, getting stuck at the crest of the Splash Mountain hill for 90 minutes -- that evidently earned someone I was in line with a number of free fastpasses ;) )?

Unfortunately no. Wow were you lucky! What a promotion! Might have to give my guide call when we're there on our next trip :rolleyes1!! Those are very hard to get. Usually you only get them for taking the tour and you only get 1 per person. The only time DH and I have scored those was when our guide sent us to a promo over at BLT. We each received a card and put it to good use on TSM!

Love those cards!! They are fantastic. We received some when we signed our papers for an add on at BLT. Dh asked the guide who had helped us (our guide wasn't there) and she gave us 3 packs each, talk about fast pass heaven!!!

Wish they were some type of perk........

I know--they are great--we got them for going to a presentation at BLT a few years ago.

I too wish there was someway for it to become a perk of DVC---not unlimited ones, or anything, but just a few cards each trip.

We were at OKW with another family who are not DVC members at the beginning of January. They decided they wanted to take the tour, and since they have 4 young kids, were interested in DVC membership.

So before our trip, I emailed our guide and set up an appointment. All 9 of us (our adult son joined us on the trip) took the tour with our guide, who we met in person for the very first time.

It was weird. At the front desk, when our guide came to meet us, he reached into a basket on the desk and gave the other couple a DVC pewter Christmas ornament. Everyone sort of laughed as my wife and I were like, what about us, but he told us they were for prospective buyers only. OK, fine.

After the tour and long presentation (our friends had a lot of questions and their young kids were playing happily in the area for kids), we all went out for the ice cream. While the other family was arranging for their photo, our guide came out with a bag for them, which included a FP card for each of them.

Our friends told us what happened next, since we wanted to give them some privacy while they finished up with our guide. They said it went something like this. Thanks, how do they work. Our guide said they are good for 3 days from that day. Our friends asked if there was any way to alter the dates since we were there for the Marathon weekend and wouldn't be going to the parks until after the three days were up. But no, they were in the computer starting that day and couldn't be changed.

Then our friends pointed out it didn't really matter as they wouldn't have felt right using them since the 3 of us hadn't gotten them and we were a group, after all (we even had goofy tee shirts made up for our big reunion vacation). Again, the cards were only for potential buyers.

We didn't even know this had happened since my family was just eating our ice cream while our guide dealt with our friends about this. But they told us about it after we left, and even said if that's how DVC treats you (meaning us) after you've bought, they'd have to rethink things. They were embarrassed for us since we had set up the appointment with our guide, from whom in just the past year we had sent him a referral and we did 2 add ons. Yet he barely acknowledged we were even there.

So I don't know who gets these cards, or how long they are good for after they are issued. I DID at least get to see one that our friends let us look at. They also let us look at their Christmas ornament.

This was part of the incentive when we bought too. For three years everytime we check in on points, we receive 30 fast passes. I thought it was a great selling point. He even said wouldn't you love more time at disney and that they were going to give us a way to have at least more time to do what we wanted. We bought last year and have already done three trips on points. Checking in and having 30 fp has been great. They are instant fp too so when you put the cadr in the return time is right then. They do expire after four days but we use them up right away.:yay:

So for the first three trips you took, you got 10 cards worth three fast passes each, correct?

When did you buy in, and how many are in your family?

I never heard of such a deal. When we looked into DVC, we got two cards. When we took the tour at BLT, we got two cards. That's it.

We became DVC members last month on our cruise. One of the incentives was 6 3-packs (18) of VIP FP's that we could collect on our next trip. Just went to Disneyland last weekend with my sisters, but we were only in the park for 5 hours since we had other plans that day. We used 14, and handed the remaining 4 to a mother and daughter on our way out of the park. I didn't know until I was holding them in my hand that they expired within a week, but it was still worth it because it maximized those 5 hours for us. Wish we could have some of those every time!

I assume that one or both of you lives in a state without the referral bonus? Because if you hit 3 referrals in one year, that third would yield some serious money. I'd be FINE with my guide (who I don't even know b/c MY guide quit, wahhhhh) ignoring me if I were about to get to "level 3".

I wasn't clear. We did one referral and two small add ons for ourselves. We got the bonus for the one referral.

We were at WDW at the end of November and were vacationing on points with friends. The DVC contact at the Beach Club said that if we go do a tour at SSR, EVERYONE (my family of 5 and DVC members and the other family). So we signed up for the tour and after sitting down with the guide, we ALL got the 3 FP VIP cards.

Our friends bought into BLT and when they went back to sign the papers, they each got another cards. It sounds like it may be at the discreation of the guide.

Our friends also received a small DVC bag (like they have at the grocery stores) after we left. My wife saw it and wanted one. The last part of our stay was at SSR so I walked over and asked if I could some how get one. The lady at the front desk gave me two.

When did you buy in, and how many are in your family? We bought in on the inaugural of the Dream. There are only three of us in the family. However, for two of the trips we took family, so that cards go pretty quick.

When they pull our contract/ information up on the computer it's noted in there. So we've had no problem so far.

I'm curious. Were these fast passes good for ANY ride? Last yr I was promised some for a problem and to let them know our next trip so we haven't gotten them, but we were told they weren't good for TSM. And that the instant FP are never good for new rides.

They are good for any attraction that uses FP. You still need to go to the FP machine, but when you use a VIP FP card, it gices you a FP that is good immediately. So if you are there at 10:20 AM, it will say you can come back between 10:20 and 11:20 AM. You can also, use the card immediately again.

If a ride like TSM, has all it's FPs gone for the day, then you would not be able to get one since the machines would be closed down.

Similar to our experience except:

1. We had called our guide well before the trip to arrange the presentation for our friends.

2. When he couldn't meet with us on the day that fit best with our plans because he was off that day, we switched our plans and met with him when he could make it.

3. After the tour and presentation, which took a LONG time, my family just went to a corner of the ice cream parlor and din't even know our friends had gotten FB cards or anything else until they told us about it, and how they had specifically asked the guide about FPs for my family.

To top it all off, and what really burns me, is while touring the GV for SSR, my guide and I were talking about how he was pleased we had changed our plans to meet with him, but since it had looked like we wouldn't be able to get together (because of his vacation) he had mailed us a bunch of stuff. He told me to be sure I checked the mail when we got back.

It's been almost a month now, and I even emailed him to tell him I had asked a mailman whether maybe a package had gotten shoved off to the side while we had been gone and had our mail on hold. There was nothing to be found, so I asked the guide if he had been kidding me or if he had been serious about having sent us stuff.

He emailed back that I shouldn't bother looking for anything.

The thing is, we didn't ASK for anything - HE brought it up. Then to top it off, the way we were ignored at the sales center, which made our friends uncomfortable on our behalf...

It could have been a nicer experience. But at least we got to see one of the FP cards, although we still have no idea what you have to do to actually get one.

My recollection was that the cards we used indicated on the back that they weren't good for the Town Square Theatre or Indiana Jones. Had no problem using it for TSM -- and let me tell you, that was an AWESOME feeling, just basically walking onto that ride. :)

This is the kind of perk that would be good for all DVC Members. Not much cost, but what a big morale boost! How great it would be to receive a few each trip, or even a few each year.

For those potential buyers, I can see why they would hesitate in buying.

I agree. The reason we are suppose to get FP, is last yr we stayed at BLT and the sofa was awful looking. One seat cushion was completely ripped along the seam. I thought it was fringe hanging down like fancy material. uhh no, the whole seam was torn apart. All the other cushions had the seams pulling apart, but not completely separated. So I went to the front desk to tell them about it (I had pictures). Not only for me paying to get into DVC, but would you be happy spent a several hundred a night at a deluxe and get a sofa like this. Well, short story, I ended up going down 5 times over the week, nothing was done, just before we left, met with managers who said they had dropped the ball. Wrote to DVC and got the promise of a FP per person but not good on TSM. We are going to try to get them for a trip in May.
