Fastpass Enforcement

Hello all,

It has been a few years since our last trip to DLR and if I am not mistaken, they are enforcing Fastpass times now. Is that correct?

Thanks,

Sadly, yes. Though a nice CM let us onto Splash even though we were 5-10 minutes past the end of the 1 hour FP return window (I can't remember exactly how late). We had to fight our way past the crowds of people watching the parade on Main Street, as we were coming from Goofy's Kitchen. We were running, so I think he took pity on a sweaty, flushed mom with 2 kids running with her. :)

The hidden rule is that you have 15 minutes after the return time to make it on the attraction using Fastpass.

The next hidden rule is if you are at a sit down restaurant, the waiter can ask their manager to give you a new Fastpass with a later time if you are at the restaurant during your FP return time.

Both options have always worked for me and my guests.

I've also been allowed to enter the fastpass line five minutes before the window begins.

Oh wow! I wish I had known this so we could have stayed at Goofy's Kitchen longer to meet more than 2 characters after 1 hour there.

Really? You mean if you have reservations at the restaurant?

wow...thank you so much for all of the replies to this, since I have been wondering the same thing! We haven't been to DL in a while, but are going in October...so I'm starting to brush up on all things Disney...and the FP issue is definitely one that I need to be up to date on!

Anyone else want to chime in with their recent experiences??

Thank you!

Yeah, I'd like to hear if others have had the same luck as MouseEXP, both in terms of the grace period and the table service restaurant.

I've never tried asking for a FP time extension/modification at a TS, so I don't know about that one.

In terms of the grace period, I'm not sure I'd call that one a "rule". From what I've read and experienced, it's up to the discretion of the CM whether or not they'll accept recently late FPs. WDW is more obvious about the grace period (it's printed on the FP), but DLR's FPs do not have this time on it. So it depends on the CM you get if you're running late.

This isn't always the case. On Star Tours last week we arrived 3 minutes early according to the clock outside the ride and the CM had us wait until the exact time.

Now I'm worried. Are people not getting the extra 15 minutes? I scheduled some fast passes knowing that we might be a few minutes late.

I never took advantage of the slacking on the FP times. I guess I'm just too much of a rule follower. :rotfl:

I think it's best to assume there is no grace period. I don't really think one exists and I think it is ultimately left up to the CM. I too have been a few minutes late and have been granted entry. I think the most I've been late though is 5 minutes. Basically, don't expect exceptions to be made and you won't be disappointed. The grace period, even if it does exist, is supposed to be for unexpected situations. If you start planning around the grace period, you will no longer have that cushion.

When I'm running late, I ask politely if I can still go on the ride, but I fully expect them to say "no". That has yet to happen though.

10 minutes early getting on Space Mt on a recent visit and CM wouldn't let us go. We went to the gift shop and bought the kids some pins to kill the time. So it appears that early entry isn't happening. I didn't really expect it, but we were in the area so we thought we'd try. I don't have a problem with that, but I would hope they would give those who are delayed getting back a bit of a grace period.

Not to hijack the thread, but I do wish they had a different system rather than having to go to the attraction, then come back from who knows where in the park at the appointed time. Perhaps a central FP distribution spot, or ? I haven't been to WDW since FP+ so I don't have experience with that, I just know as I age it becomes less important to us to run to an attraction for a FP, then have to walk back again later etc. We try to plan our days walking so as not to tire out so early etc.

I have yet to experience a CM letting me in early or a few minutes late. It depends on the CM I guess, however I'm one to believe that if you're late...you're late. (However, the restaurant giving you a revised pass is nice since that is what most people complain about anyway)

This thread is about Fastpasses in DisneyLAND where you cannot schedule FPs in advance. Are you talking about Disney WORLD where FP+ can be scheduled 60/30 days in advance depending on where you are staying?

True... Had the same issue at racers. But it has happened for many other rides.
