FastPass crackdown??

We knew about the new enforcement, and we also knew that the 15 minute grace period was pretty much dependent on pixie dust. As a result, we didn't have any problem.

But, we had made custom daily touring plans from touringplans.com, and every single recommended use of a fastpass in the plans was based on the 15 minute grace period. I suppose that's mostly a heads-up if you're using their plans.

I don't think people understood your sarcasm with that question Larry.

I wouldn't dare be sarcastic on this board anymore.

But I will encourage people to challenge their own beliefs when they may be under some misconception, such as the Fastpass was designed to help guests have a better time in the parks.

The Fastpass was designed to get people out of line and into $tore$ and re$taurant$ -- nothing more, nothing less.

Read the original patent, and that becomes patently clear (if you'll pardon my pun).

Ah, an adherent of the intentional fallacy. We can all move along now.

You better not, because the long arm of the law is going to get you.:thumbsup2

So what is the policy on when you can get another Fast Pass? As I recall the rule used to be it was the earlier of 1) the beginning of the return time on the attraction or 2) two hours after the Fast Pass was issued. Is this still the rule?

Yes, no different.
And, they still print the time on the Fastpass. Notice the time to get a new Fastpass on this picture.
Stole this picture from my friend who is at AK right now (and I'm super jealous!). You will notice the GP 13:55 (1:55) at the bottom right.

That's why I would not buy any printed guides. They can be out of date by the time they arrive on the book store shelf.

While I don't love the new enforcement, I certainly understand it. For several years, I would collect Fastpasses for my DS and I to use later in the day/evening. My 10-13 year old son [remember, he was aging:goodvibes] would disagree with me doing this because he would say "Mom, then why do they have a specific return time if you can come anytime after that time?" Hard to argue with basic/innocent logic. :scratchin

This is something that DH and I noticed on our trip last week. There were Fastpasses still available later in the day than we had ever seen. The obvious exceptions were Toy Story Midway Mania and Soarin. But aside from those two, we were able to use many more Fastpasses than we had before because they weren't immediately snatched up right after rope drop.

As a plus, one of the side effects of this is that people are not as inclined to take a FP that they cannot get to on time, leaving more available for others. No hording or after dinner or parade rushes to the rides. Even if they didn't do it for the purpose of the new FP+, it has had some positive results in my opinion.

Actually, CMs have reported here that at the same time they started enforcing the return times, Disney also started experimenting with adding more FPs into the distribution system. The assumption is that they are doing that in preparation for taking a big chunk back out of the system for the FP+ system.

Maybe I caught a castmember having a bad day, but these things do have expirations now. I've always heard they are good beyond, kind of an unwritten rule. And in The Unnofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger&Len Testa on pg 79 "At both WDW and Disneyland in California, the return window expiration time is ingnored as a matter of policy, though Disney keeps this something of a secret."

Wasn't a huge deal, but I took my daughter (6yrs old) on Splash Mountain on 11/1 3hrs after the fast pass window expired, and we were denied entrance. Stand by was marked 45 min, but only lasted about 30.

Didn't really want to make a scene, but has anyone else experienced this crackdown? Earlier last week when the MK was empty, we were a little late on a few but had no issues whatsoever.

Thoughts??

Oh they are enforcing it now, have been since March. We had the same thing happen to us back in March and we went to the supervisor on the ride and got some luck through her getting on but no they are now saying you have to be back in that time.

While reading the 1st page of this thread IM shocked at some of the posts. You guys and Im not going to name names, jumped down the OP throat. Look how many post the OP has. Common , some people are going to come to these boards maybe month or even a years after we all disboards members have talked a topic to death. How can we get newcomers to stay on the disboards and grow the site if we keep jumping down someones throat and always saying, " we talked about that a year ago." Come on guys we are all better than that. We are suppose to be here to help not embarrass someone for not knowing a answer. OP asked a question , read some outdated books and came here for some help.:grouphug:

Its because opinions vary vastly on this and many other sensitive issues like pool hopping, parking illegally, beating the system in any way, cutting in line and many, many others. Many of these differences in opinions have moral implications, and they are what make this board interesting.

Management has decided that 3 minutes is now a little too much. Magical!

Ah, the good ol' days. :)

Thanks! Have been following this site for past 3-4 months, and decided to finally post. Obviously hit a hot topic! I'll be sure to keep posting because I do have various opinions and ideas on WDW, and have seen this place evolve over my 12+ trips dating back to 1977.
