Fast Pass Selections

What are peoples thoughts about using one of your fastpass selections on a parade or fireworks? My friend is going for the first time with her 5 year old and 2, 3 year old twins the last week of January and I believe she is worried about their viewing....I am trying to help her but I'm no expert having only been to Disney once and before fastpasses (my next trip is in Nov. which I've been planning since we got back 2 yrs ago)....I've rec'd quite a few tips from watching podcasts and reading blogs but this is one thing I've never really run into....so your thoughts would be most helpful! The last week of January they can probably walk up and get a front row spot in Frontierland a half hour or less before parade time.

Fireworks is more of a mixed bag. I did like having a FP, but I was there on a level 9 crowd day and wanted to set up my tripod. Does she really want to watch from out in front of the castle? Or would they be ok watching from behind in Fantasyland?

I think it is worth it to get a FP for the fireworks. It is better then trying to find a spot and hour or more ahead of time.

I had a FP for the Festival of Fantasy parade last March & personally wouldn't do it again. I thought it would be at the hub but it turned out it was right in front of the train station where the flagpole is. We had to wait 20 minutes after the music began since that is where the parade ends. There was only 2 of us & I don't think it was necessary for just 2 people. If you have a party greater than a few people though, it might be worth it for you so you don't have to stake out a spot an hour before it begins.

I'm planning to FP+ the MSEP and Wishes on the day we arrive at WDW. It will be a fun way to start our trip, and will give us some freedom in booking FP+ for other attractions at MK on a different day- primarily making it easier to book midday FP+ and be able to get more, instead of being tied to a couple that are very late in the day.
