Fast Pass Question?

Is the FP system linked between the two parks (DLR and DCA)?

In other words, if you get a FP for TSM at, say 10:00 am, then hop over to DLR right away, will you be able to get a FP for Space Mountain right away? Or do you have to wait until your next FP window opens up? Are the two parks linked together re: FPs?

Hope this question makes sense. TIA!

The two parks are not linked to each other, so yes, you can get a DL FP and then get a DCA FP right away. Also, a World of Color FP is not connected to the rest of the system, so getting it will not affect your ability to get another ride FP in DCA. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Roger Rabbit are also not connected to the rest of the FP system in DL, so you can get a FP for one of those rides and then get another FP immediately after.

That said, there is no FP for Toy Story, just so you're aware ;)

When did BTMRR get disconnected from the rest of the park? That's news to me! It didn't use to be.

I think it was ArchOwl that confirmed it a couple weeks ago after seeing that RideMax listed it as disconnected.

Yes, here is the picture I posted from my visit. The time I obtained the FPs is in the lower right hand corner. I got BTMRR and Indy 4 minutes apart and they have different times to get another FP.

This is helpful when the park is really busy (like it was over Labor Day when I was there). Obviously it only works when the FP machines for BTMRR are open. They tend to close them during the slower times.

That's great info - thank you! Especially the info about BTMRR and RR not being connected. I had no idea!

I guess I'm used to TSM at WDW -- I can't imagine not having FP for that! They need to change that, huh?

Thanks again.

Well, I'm glad it happened recently, I was gonna kick myself if it was that way over the summer. ;) I don't know how I missed that thread. I guess I was busy getting my classroom back in order around that time. I'm never there when it isn't busy so I wouldn't know about them closing the FP machines except when the ride is broken down.

No one seems to know when it started. Heck, I would not even bother to test it myself until it pops up on the radar screen like it has here.

Anyone who has an interest in FP collection & FP usage & isn't VERY familiar with FP at DLR should review Hydroguy's FP threads:

ArchOwl, great pics regarding Indy & BTMRR FPs. Thanks for posting them. What jumps out at me (besides BTMRR NOT being connected) is that:

- Indy (an incredibly popular ride) had a return time of 8:30pm (& you picked up the FP at 7:14pm !!!)

It would seem that if one is hopping "back" to DL at 5 or 6pm.....then picking up an Indy FP immediately would be in order. (Any others?? I wonder what the SM or Splash return time would be at 6pm??)

- The BTMRR FP picked up at 7:18pm had a return time of 7:55pm.

With it not being connected, one could stroll by BTMRR multiple times (picking up FPs & riding it with previously picked up FPs) while enjoying other rides during the 40-60 min. "wait".

imo.....TSM not having a FP just isn't a big deal. Many of us ride it daily between 11:30am & 3pm with 25 - 35 min. waits......normally after hopping to DCA & before (or after) our mid day break.

To me 30 min. isn't a deal killer (one can effectively use that time to munch on a churro or corny dog while in line ;))..... & I bet a wait in a FP line wouldn't be significantly shorter. (What's the typical wait in the FP line on TSM at WDW??)

:)

I think Ridemax said it had been like that for a couple of months. I talked with a CM who was clueless to try and confirm, but no dice. I think someone else talked to a more informed CM who said it had been disconnected for months.

When I was there in September, I did test them all. RR is still disconnected, but no others. LOL, I am such a nerd. :rotfl:

Thanks, Hound! I found during two trips in the summer season (July and September) that it seems to me that the popularity of Indy wanes and Splash really picks up. I think that does account for some of the reason why Indy had such a quick return time. It also didn't hurt that Friday of the Labor Day weekend was quite pleasant, with a busy but not terribly crowded park. Not sure why? All APs were unblocked, but maybe since Monday was unblocked as well most SoCal folks were planning on hitting the parks on Monday?

Space Mountain and Splash Mountain both had significantly longer FP return lines on that weekend. Space, however, surprised me by having FPs long into the evening. Splash ran out of FPs by late afternoon. It was a warm weekend, though. So if I were recommending a FP order to someone, I might take into consideration the weather report!

And yes, it was nice to have the BTMRR option. This is a great ride and we found ourselves picking up multiple FPs on this trip and riding BTMRR morning, noon, and night! Night is by far the best, with the trains seeming to speed out of control at times. Crazy fun. :thumbsup2

Not to get off topic, but the ride also changes at night! The bats are in the cave and the saloon music by the town is playing. Night is the best! I hope it stays disconnected through next summer.
