If we booked our FP+ from home for later in the day, do we still have the option of going to the park and using the machines for other FP's?

Nope - there are no more FP machines in the parks. After you use all three of the ones you booked at home, or all three expire, then you can go to a kiosk in a park and get another FP.

Once you use all three your FP+'s or they expire you can go to the kiosk, in the park you desire, and try for a 4th and 5th...

Depending upon the the crowd size for the day you are unlikely to get anything beyond the first three FP+'s. Late day FP+'s usually result in nothing beyond the first three.
