Fast Pass+ for offsite guests - questions

Thanks in advance for your help!

1. Are there long lines for the fast pass+ kiosks or at the CM's with ipads to book the fast passes each morning?

2. Do all family members need to be there to sign up for the fast passes? For example, could 1 parent take the kids on a ride while the other parent signs everyone up with the park tickets for fast passes?

3. Finally, do the fast passes for offsite guests work in the same way - whereby family members can sign up for different fast passes from each other (i.e. thrill rides for thrill seekers and child-friendly rides for younger kids)?

We were at MK Wednesday and yesterday (Friday). Our experience was the kiosks were light in the morning and all options were available. By about 2 pm yesterday (on a 6 day, per touringplans and Josh) many of the kiosks were 15 deep or so and many attractions were out of FP+s. So you probably don't need to book your FP+s right at rope drop, but I'd be looking at getting FP+s by mid-morning, at the latest, to get a full range of attractions and times.

DW and I are linked on MDE, so when 1 pass was entered at the kiosks, both of us popped up. It wasn't necessary for the other person to be there.

I don't have any experience with that, sorry.

My comments are in blue.

Thanks for the first-hand report regarding MK during the past 4 days!

Just curious: how did you know that many attractions were out of FP+ by 2pm?

At that time, were you trying to make (or change) a FP+ booking for later in the day, and many attractions didn't even make the list of choices for you?

Or was the fact that no FP+ were available for many attractions revealed in some other way?

I have one question to add:

Is it best to have my tickets liked to MDE before going to the parks even though we are off-site and need to make the FP+ selections the day of?

Thanks!

We always stay off site to save money. This way we can afford to travel more. I wish there was a way to see what fast passes are still avaliable before you go through the gate. If all the rides we want are gone, we can go to Universal and pay for their FOTL passes. At least this way we know we can ride what we want and not waste a day on our tickets. We travel during the busy seasons due to our school schedule. Come on Disney at least have this avaliable for people who refuse to pay your high resort prices.

Thanks for all the feedback! :thumbsup2 I'm planning an itinerary for some friends. How realistic is it to plan around the desired fast pass attractions/times I want them to book when they arrive? Is there enough availability when they arrive at 8:45am each morning?

Just to complicate this a little more...on our upcoming off-site trip, we will be using 3 days of a 10 day non-expiration pass. Should I be trying to link those tickets to our account in advance of our trip? I had previously heard something about this somehow "messing up" the tickets, if you're not also linking a specific resort stay.

My sister and I are going in about a month, and I would like to be able to book both our FPs for the day while she rides roller coasters I won't touch. ;)

:confused3

Linking tickets to MDE does not affect them. MDE is just a file that stores all of your info.

By linking your tickets, it will speed up your Fp+ process at the kiosk because your selections will show in your MDE app. You won't have to write them down or snap a photo.

Just back from the World. :sad1:

We were meeting DS at MK after he finished orientation for DCP, so we were booking them when he got there. We tried to book FP+ about that time and saw on the kiosk screen there were many (Space, Peter Pan and some others I can't remember) that were out of FP. The previous day we were at MK (Wed), we booked our FP+ early and had the full range available.
