I havent seen this one asked, but Im sure its been asked a hundred times. Went through the McDs drive thru this weekend and ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. Got a minute down the road, unwrapped my sandwich and it turned out to be an egg mcmuffin instead. I was starving and wolfed it down anyways. I was really annoyed but there were bigger battles to fight so I just let it be. What would you do?

It depends on how hungry I am, and how big of an error it was. If there was mayo or fish mistakenly put on my sandwich, I go back. Bleccch. I really try to make it a point to stop and check before it's too late, but whenever I'm *super* hungry, I forget, and that's when there's a mistake. :headache:

Is it just me or does it seem like the mistakes are more frequent lately, and the employees really couldn't give a hoot?

:confused3 What is there TO do? You either take back the wrong sandwich and get the right one or you eat what you get. You made your choice. I probably would have done the same thing.

If I'm in a position to turn around, I do. I also go back inside for any changes.

If it's a small mistake I can deal with, I'll eat it anyways. But if there's a significant price difference, like ordering a 3$ breakfast sandwich and wind up with a 1$ sausage biscuit, then I'd tell them the next time I drove past.

I'm usually one to order something a specific way (like no mayo), so I'm always in a habit of checking before I pull off. And also checking my tea before driving away, too many times I've gotten sour old tea. Gross.

As you did, I would mostly let it go. Not worth going back for.

Recently I went to the McD's drive through and instead of my cheeseburger, they gave me a Filet O' Fish. Now, I have fond memories of the Filet O'Fish from my childhood so I was just going to eat it (I was eating at a nearby park). Well, the fish was NASTY. So, irritated as heck, I got back into my car and went into the McD's and got my sandwich switched.

I usually let it go because it is never worth it for me to go back.

Oh I hate it when that happens! I would have done the same thing you did; Just eat it and move on but when it comes to food I'm not picky:laughing:

Biscuits, muffins, I can't eat either. What I can't stand is sugar in my coffee. My typical Dunkin Donuts order for coffee is, "Coconut coffee, cream only, light, no sugar. Now and then I circle back around the drive thru and hand it back to them.

I usually take back. Ive gotten in the habit of checking then and there to see if everything is correct and yes i agree the mistakes are more and more and the employees are worse and worse. AND SLOW!

I check my bags before I leave so I don't have that issue. However given your situation and being starving, I would have eaten it as well.

Mutter an expletive, eat it and be on my way.

Save your energy for the bigger battles.

I do this also, I check before I leave the parking lot and either circle around or go back in. This happens way to often to me (I am picky and usually do special orders all the time).

I think I have yet to go through a McDonalds drive thru with the order correct, so I check before I pull away (when you ask for a plain burger, no ketchup, it never seems to happen).

Little pet peeve here, to veer off topic for a sec ....

The OP wasn't "starving", the OP was "hungry." There's a difference.

If the OP was truly starving, it wouldn't have mattered what was in the paper, as long as it was edible. What the OP was was "too hungry to care about getting the right sandwich." And, clearly, more hungry than annoyed.

Sorry ... just had to ...

:earsboy:

You can call them and they will give you a person to ask for when you return to get another one.

I've gotten into the habit of always checking.
It HAS gotten worse and worse. They always (and I mean 100% of the time, honestly) forget the straws at our Wendy's.

The worst was a few weeks ago I was at Mc Donald's getting food for the kids and ordered a few hamburgers and two fruit and yogurt parfaits. I paid at the first window, then drove up to the second window to get the food. They handed me a bag with all the hamburgers, said "have a nice day" and closed the window. I knocked on the window and told the lady I was missing the parfaits. She said, "I'm sorry, we're out of those tonight" and was about to close the window again! I told her I had paid for them and she said, "I know." I asked her if I could get my money back, and she said no but I could substitute for two small drinks, which I did.

I was angry and haven't gone back to that Mc Donald's again.

eta we're trying not to eat out as much as we used to, and that has saved us a lot of money and frustration!

What good does it do at that point? You don't have the sandwich or the receipt.

If the mistake yields something Ill eat then I eat it. But if it yields something I wont I go back. I have allergies so I tend to be check but when I forget and its wrong Ill take it back i never go anywhere too far from home thankfully

I think I'd do what you did -- grumble, sigh, and eat it anyway. It wouldn't be worth going back, especially if you're on a road trip or on a schedule.

I always check my bags before I leave to make sure I got the correct *number* of items, but I don't unwrap everything to make sure it's the right stuff. That one would have probably slipped by me.

I went through Wendy's drive through a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the new apple/pecan/chicken salad. I love it, especially the Pomegranate dressing that comes with it. Got home, no dressing. Ugh............... I didn't feel like driving back, so I had some rasberry vinigrette that I used. Next time I'll be sure to check it before driving away.
