I am a DVC owner and almost always stay at a DVC resort, so I am used to deluxe lodging. This time we went to Disneyland and since Grand Californian was booked we decided to try an off-site hotel.

This was our very first trip to Disneyland and so we had NO idea about the hotels, only what I have read on the DIS. We drove up from San Diego, where we started our trip, and had not decided on a hotel yet which is TOTALLY unlike me. I usually plan much better but this trip came up on me really fast. So we decided on the drive that we would try the Fairfield Inn. We pulled onto Harbor and quickly found the Fairfield and pulled in. We told the valet that we just wanted to check and see if they had a room. He was very nice and told us to pull in and just go in and ask.

We went to the front desk and they had a room for us, a 2 queen plus a pull out couch. It was just my husband and I so this worked out well. We had our keys in about 5 minutes and we were on our way to our room on the 6th floor. We started going to only stay 3 nights but after 1 days decided to stay for 6. The hotel had no problem letting us do this and stay in the same room.

The room itself was great. It could easily hold our 2 kids if they were with us. It was VERY clean and I was very happy with it. It was in good shape and nothing looked in disrepair. We did not get housekeeping every day but when we did, it was great and they did a good job. The had a really big safe under the sink that held 2 laptops, an ipad and my wallet all very comfortably. My ONLY complaint about the room was there was no microwave. It really would have been nice to have one in the room.

The staff was all really nice and we did not run into anyone that was not pleasant. It was kind of interesting that the hotel seemed to have an all woman maintenance crew which I thought was really cool.

The hotel has a little shop that has a few things you might need but most of it was gifts and souvenirs. There is a Pizza Hut in the hotel but it has very strange hours. It is open in the morning and then closes from like noon to 5 which is kind of dumb if you come back to the hotel in the middle of the day. We did that every day and it would have been nice to have a quick place to grab lunch. There is a McDonalds next door and a few places along the way back to the hotel.

The walk was really easy and very do-able IMO.

That is all that I can really think of. I am still here and leave tomorrow so if anyone has any questions at all I am happy to answer them!

We are booked for 5 nights in June, thanks for the review! I guess I didn't realize when I made the reservations that there was not a microwave in the room, do they have refrigerators?

I have looked on the map and it looks pretty close to DL, how long is the walk? My brother stayed at the Carousel and said he would guess the walk from the Fairfield would only be 5-10 minutes depending on the light to cross the street.

Yes they have small fridges and there is plenty of room for a microwave, IMO. Not sure why they don't have them.

The walk is about 10 minutes, no further.

Oh and it is REALLY quiet. We have barely heard anything the whole week. A little traffic, but I am ok with that.

Thanks for the review. We have always looked at the FFI when booking our trips but have never tried it.

Might have to give it a try on our next trip as I really like the location.

Thanks for the review. So would the two queen pull out couch room would be big enough for five people comfortably?

The only thing that has kept me from staying here is the lack of microwave. That and we get rewards points at the Best Western hotels.

Thanks for the review. I booked for spring break next year but was going to do bwppi as a back up but now maybe we won't.

I will be staying there in June. This will be the third time we've stayed there. I love all he pillows on the bed and the convenience of it to Disneyland. It's a good place to stay!

This is our #1 choice for a hotel when staying at DLR. I completely agree with your review! We chose a different hotel this time because we got a great deal in our package. I highly recommend the FFI.

This review is perfect timing for our trip next week! We booked a king room with 2 sofa beds and this will be the first time we've stayed off-property, so your review was great! Thanks!

As a Marriott member, I've never ever had trouble getting a room OR checking in early. Often times they will say, "let me see", as this is probably just their means of training, but chances are if you ask they will have a regular room available. I haven't been to the Fairfield location down in Anaheim yet, but I've been to several up and down the I-5 corridor from Washington, Oregon, and to California and this has been my experience every time. Although it is best to try and reserve a room, I've never had much of a problem with them. Plus, I like being able to cancel up to a few hours on the day of the reservation, so that's a plus.

We stayed there last June. Got a good deal via Costco (LOVE Costco travel). Our room was a bit noisy, but otherwise we were happy. Room was fairly spacious and they delivered and set up a packnplay for our toddler very quickly. Plenty of room for the packnplay! McD, other restaurants, and the parks are in easy walking distance. My hubby and toddler used the pool one evening and it was nice for what it is. We made the mistake of walking through the Grand Californian while we were at Downtown Disney though...and now we are staying there in October!

My family stayed here back in February. I'm actually surprised by all the rave reviews this hotel gets. I didn't think it was bad. Location alone is worth it since it's such an easy walking distance and McDonalds is right there if you want to grab breakfast on the way to the parks. That being said, I made the mistake of paying for a themed room. The park view is worth the extra money if you want to watch some fireworks from the room, but the special theming is very cheap and not worth it. When we were there, the decals peeled off the walls a few times during our stay and we only stayed one night. If you bring a vehicle, parking is also somewhat challenging and the attendant at the front of the hotel had to be flagged down to give us our parking registration. We got there about one hour before check-in and there was exactly one parking spot available in a very tight spot for a minivan unless we wanted to do valet. The valet service was not very accommodating either, so we parked ourselves in the tight spot.

Anyway, I guess experiences vary. I'm not saying it's bad. It was a fine room for the night. Beds were comfy and the toilet worked. But, if we used a room for more than a place to sleep, I might not have been as happy.
