I am a DVC owner and almost always stay at a DVC resort, so I am used to deluxe lodging. This time we went to Disneyland and since Grand Californian was booked we decided to try an off-site hotel.
This was our very first trip to Disneyland and so we had NO idea about the hotels, only what I have read on the DIS. We drove up from San Diego, where we started our trip, and had not decided on a hotel yet which is TOTALLY unlike me. I usually plan much better but this trip came up on me really fast. So we decided on the drive that we would try the Fairfield Inn. We pulled onto Harbor and quickly found the Fairfield and pulled in. We told the valet that we just wanted to check and see if they had a room. He was very nice and told us to pull in and just go in and ask.
We went to the front desk and they had a room for us, a 2 queen plus a pull out couch. It was just my husband and I so this worked out well. We had our keys in about 5 minutes and we were on our way to our room on the 6th floor. We started going to only stay 3 nights but after 1 days decided to stay for 6. The hotel had no problem letting us do this and stay in the same room.
The room itself was great. It could easily hold our 2 kids if they were with us. It was VERY clean and I was very happy with it. It was in good shape and nothing looked in disrepair. We did not get housekeeping every day but when we did, it was great and they did a good job. The had a really big safe under the sink that held 2 laptops, an ipad and my wallet all very comfortably. My ONLY complaint about the room was there was no microwave. It really would have been nice to have one in the room.
The staff was all really nice and we did not run into anyone that was not pleasant. It was kind of interesting that the hotel seemed to have an all woman maintenance crew which I thought was really cool.
The hotel has a little shop that has a few things you might need but most of it was gifts and souvenirs. There is a Pizza Hut in the hotel but it has very strange hours. It is open in the morning and then closes from like noon to 5 which is kind of dumb if you come back to the hotel in the middle of the day. We did that every day and it would have been nice to have a quick place to grab lunch. There is a McDonalds next door and a few places along the way back to the hotel.
The walk was really easy and very do-able IMO.
That is all that I can really think of. I am still here and leave tomorrow so if anyone has any questions at all I am happy to answer them!
