Fare dropped- can I do anything about it?

We fly SW every August from Buffalo (drive across border because Buffalo SW better fares than Toronto airport). Our fares have always been good. This year we paid $132 each way (for 4 of us)- still happy with this price. But, I checked today and our return flights are now $83 (never have gotten fights for this price). Can I rebook for this price? What do I need to ask/ what number to call? If it is a credit, do I have to use it within a year? If it doesn't work out, I'm totally fine with the price we paid, but thought I'd come to the DIS and ask. TIA

You have to cancel and rebook. You can do it yourself online. The credit will be issued to your account and you will have to use it within a year from the date of the original booking.

Use the CHANGE flight option rather than canceling and rebooking. That keeps your present reservation in place until you confirm the change. This is especially important if you purchased EBCI. It is tied to your current reservation confirmation. If you cancel, you lose your EBCI and will have to purchase again. If you use the "Change Flight" option, you keep your original confirmation number and your EBCI remains in place.

When you reprice a flight, you receive "Travel Funds" tied to each passenger, good for travel that occurs one year from the original booking date. If you reprice four tickets, you will have four sets of Travel Funds, one for each person, and those funds can only be used to book a new flight for that specific person.

Hopefully. That is their intent. But, after you make the change, check on this. It is not uncommon for it to be lost in cyber space during the change.

Thank you everyone! It works out to about $200 USD total, so it is a fair amount of money. Your advice is appreciated :thanks:

Again, that money is assigned to each person, you can't use it all for a single ticket. And that you have one year from when you first purchased the ticket. So if you bought the tickets on May 12th, you have until May 12, 2018 to use the credit.

So if one if One of our SW flights comes up with a reduced fare, in points, but only for one of us, will it mess anything up just change one of us, and then watching for another to possibly open up and do that one later if we can? DD26 and I are both booked thru my account. Been stalking and finally one of flights dropped but only fur one person, argh. But i hesitated cause not sure how that will go.lol. TIA

my SW flights for end of January just dropped almost $25 this morning! I used the change flight feature and got the credits. I also book my ticket and my husbands separately for this reason. Its easier to change.

No, shouldn't make any difference to change just a single flight. As long as you aren't changing to a totally different flight of course. But if you are just using the Change feature to rebook to get a lower fare (or lower points), keeping the same flight, then it won't matter if you do them 1 at a time.
