FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

An earlier post said that some of the table service restaurants were starting to add child appetizers becasue of the meal plan. Does anyone have examples of what the choices might be?

Thanks!

Yes you can. It's a TS for the character meals or any other sitdown restaurant. It's a counter service breakfast if you order it from a counter service establishment.

My 7 year old daughter ordered the fruit and cheese plate from Rose and Crown, the fruit and yogurt plate from Cinderella's Royal Table and at Liberty Tree I'm pretty sure she had a fruit plate of some sort as well.

So... it's pretty much fruit.

Thanks!!!! I hope that continues...because that would be perfect my my two littles.

Here's a crazy idea - WD should come up with 2 menus - one for dining plan and one for non. This way, we would all know what food we can order. Plus, if someone doesn't know about the dining plan, this would be a great advertising tool !!! Just my 2 cents :goodvibes

Sorry, but IMO that would be a very stupid idea.

That would create two classes of diners, one on the plan and one not on the plan. People on the dining plan would become second class citizens. Disney did that with the Candlelight Processional and the Fantasmic! dinners. It used to be that you could order anything you want, but now you are limited to a smaller, less expensive menu. I always order lobster at Teppanyaki Steakhouse in Japan and the last time I did under the Candlelight Processional price (which was not cheap!) I had to pay a $10 upcharge. I paid it because I like the lobster, but it would have been cheaper for me to pay for my meal ala carte v/s the CP price plus the upcharge :(

Personally, I would just rather ask at each restaurant if anything was not included in the dining plan when s/he gives me my menu. That should be easy on both of us.

Has anyone eaten at Narcosse's yet on the plan. How do they deal with all that "add on " stuff on their menu???

If I am understanding the other posts correctly, I believe most add on items are not included and are charged to the customer. Please correct me if I am wrong.

All the extra's I had to pay for......you get an appetizer, main course, dessert in the plan with a drink (non-alcoholic).

If you want extra side (mushrooms, shrimp, etc.) its on you.

My travel agent just sent me an email about the dining plan that contained a link to a mousesavers page of tips for making the most of the dining plan. The major suggestion is to pool the family's meals and pay out of pocket for the kids or just let them share w/adults. Can't post the link (I'm too new), but it's there.

Anyway, I'm using a travel agency that specializes in Disney, and they're still suggesting the pooling strategy, so I'm officially going to stop worrying about that.

And start worrying about something else. ;)

I think thats the link you mean.

Has anyone shared at a table service restaurant? What I had in mind was ESPN Club at Boardwalk. Using 2 credits for 3 people. Ordering Nachos and Dingers which are appetizers and then 2 meals one most likely being a cheeseburger for DD12. Will this work?

Just back from a week on the plan...OMG soooo much food. I have lots of info if anyone has any questions. Seems like we ate everywhere! Cali Grill, Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, LTT, Col. Harb. house, Pinochios, Snacks galore! Mama melrose, sci fi, flame tree, tuskerhouse, Cinderellas castle, norways princess lunch, Whispering Canyon, Ohanas, Fun and food court at Contemp., main st. bakery (not included in plan) and many more!

Welcome back! Sounds like you had some good eatin'! :teeth: I've got a few questions if you don't mind!
1)Did you share any meals?
2)Did you use any child TS meals as adult TS meals?
3)Did Le Cellier have any stipulations on what you could order on the meal plan?
4) Did Whispering Canyon allow you to have milkshakes as your drink or dessert?
5) What were some of the snacks you had? Did you just stick with what the plan lists (ice cream bar, small chips, drink, fruit)?
Thanks so much! Sorry for all the questions!!

I couldn't find an answer to this in the thread, so I apologize if it was answered. When you pay for your meals, do you have to show each key card for each member of your party, or just one? For example, if I go to a CS location to get food for all 4 members of my family, do I need to take all 4 key cards with me, or just my own? Hope that makes sense! I'm hoping to only carry one card with me, that's why I ask! Thanks!!!

Canbegrumpy - Each room key per room will have all the credits on them so you only need to present your card. The CS credits will be taken off your room which would show up on all the cards regardless of which card was actually used to "pay" for the room. Hope this helps!!! :)

Thank you sooooo much for your quick reply! I can stop obsessing over this detail now and move on to the next thing to worry about!! LOL!!

1.We shared a meals at Sci fi and Le cellier.
2. we did because all points are pooled not itemized as child/adult
3.No price stipulations at any restaurant on our list other than Wolfgang Puck in DTD (but it was only a $27and under stipulation)
4.We did have 2 milkshakes counted as 2 desserts. but we still got 2 others! Who needs 4 desserts????
5. Snacks were the most limited items. the items you listed are about it. I tried to get them for a dole whip, or other items and was told no.
