FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

What do you mean by "For the tableservice meals we were planning on using we ended up getting the counter meals and snacks for free." Just a little confused on the "free" part. Thanks

That means the cost of the dining plan would have equaled the cost of ezmark's TS meals if paid out of pocket. Therefore, all of ezmark's CS meals and snacks were "free."

Are there any sit down restaurants that do not allow a family to pay OOP for kids?

That would be a CM not knowing what they are doing. If you ever have a CM tell you this, ask to talk to the manager and he/she will set the CM straight. Disney cannot deny you paying for anyone in your party out of pocket.. ever. Who is to say that you won't use those TS credits for your kid at a more expensive character meal later that evening.

Glad you could understand what he meant, Pedro2112, because I sure didn't!

:rotfl2:

The reason I knew was because that was our situation last march. When I added up what it would have cost us for our TS meals alone out of pocket, it pretty much equaled the total cost of the dining plan. So my mentality was that I prepaid for my TS meals, and all my counter service meals and snacks were "free."

now i understand what pedro 2112 meant............i didn't catch on to what he said earlier but wasn't about to admit it.....cause i didn't understand the 2nd translation of it either.

but now i understand.

We have friends that are going to be meeting us down there at staying offsite but coming to the parks with us each day... Obviously they will be eating dinner at the same table with us. Is this allowed as they will be paying cash and my DW and I will have the DDP? With 2 Appetizers and 2 desserts we would almost have to share with them, is this allowed..Of course they will be buying an entree also :)

Since the portions a HUGE I mean 1 App 1 Entree 1 Dessert per person is a ton, would my DW and I ever be able to just use 1 TS and a resturant and split between us? I mean I have read where others are using that logic for CS credits.

We were there from Dec. 20 - Dec. 26 on the dining plan and had no problem sharing either CS or TS meals. It is alot of food. For most meals our party of 4 could share 2 or 3 meals depending on how hungry we were. I miss dessert with every meal! :earboy2:

I think I saw somewhere someone posted a "worksheet" of their meal credits to keep track. Anyone know where this might be or what I'm talking about?
Thanks!

I believe it's at the very beginning of this thread. You can download it to your computer. It's REALLY helpful. There's a place for notes (which I put my ADRs in there) and I'll keep mine in my purse when I am at WDW for quick reference.

I could have sworm it was there..maybe it was deleted or moved, but I downloaded it to my computer. I can email you it if you like. Just PM me with your email. It's an Excel file. I am not allowed to post attachments on the board for some reason.

Can you camp at Ft Wilderness and get the Dining Plan?

We really only need a place to crash and we could take our large tent on the plane but I really do not want to spend the vacation cooking and washing dishes. So I was wondering if you can camp and get the meal plan?

urm is the dining plan on all year ? i thought it only was on at the time around september due to hurricane season or so?

Yes, the DP is available year-round. They had a special when it was free around Sept./Oct.

I think you can get it staying at any Disney propery, so why not Ft. Wilderness. You just have to get a package that includes tickets, onsite stay, & DP.

Yes you can get the DP at Ft. W. We did this at Thanksgiving.

The only difference is its not free.

At the time if you purchased a myw package (rack rate, with at least 1 day tickets) during a certain period of time you could get the dining for free.

It still may be a good value for you if you like to eat at least one sit down meal per day.

If we want to stay 7 nights and go home very early on the 8th day, can we purchase a 6 night/7 day MYW package with dining plan, then add an extra hotel night without dining? The 6 nights of dining will be more than enough for our family (2 adults+12DS+10DS).

If my family (2 adults+DS10+DS12) gets the dining plan package, but my sons mostly share, can my mother book a room-only and use our points?

That will probably work since one will be sharing and you still will be using only 4 credits per order. I'm gonna try a little trickier one. 2 Adults on the dining plan will try to use 6 TS to treat 4 guests, our children who happen to be on a band trip and NOT on the dining plan.
