FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

In January DVC Members are being offered the DP for travel after the end of April. They haven't come out with all the details yet, but it will be similar to the regular DP. I'd like to get it in January, but Dh doesn't want to sign up for it until April thinking that he has to pay for it as soon as we book it. Do you pay for the DP when you book it or when you get there and check in?

I read on the boards somewhere that you pay for the DP at checkin

I believe you pay for it when you book it. I originally had DP on my package, but canceled that portion so that I wouldn't have to pay for it (extra $525 right before Christmas!) by my 45 day mark. I plan on adding it back on in a couple weeks.

I am not sure if this has been covered yet... Can you use the dining plan for holidays? I am planning a trip over next christmas and new years, I would like to use the plan and am wondering if you can use it for say christmas dinner or one of the special new years meals?
I am not sure, but I would think you could. Special meals might "cost" an extra credit?? Not sure, but can't see why you wouldn't be able to use your credits during this time.

Hopefully someone who has done this will answer...

OK. don't have time to search through 70+ pages...

Question on Le Cellier...anyone know the list of appetizers that are available with the plan? I am wondering specifically about the scallops, and the cheese selection, since they are more than the rest of the appetizers.

Anyone know for sure who has been there for the dining plan?

We went there in December and everything on the menu was fair game. The only issue was I think the cheese assortment said it was for 2, which is why it is more expensive, and then my husband and I would have to share it as 2 appetizers. Otherwise as long as it is an appetizer for 1, you can pick it! The dining plan really is a great deal! Enjoy!

My daughter got the cheese assortment appetizer and did not have to share. We were there in December. The only restriction was the dessert sampler (not the cheese) which could be shared by two. This restaurant was great for us in all ways!

Thank you to everyone who recommended the DDP. We saved a ton of money...but I gained 6 pounds in a week. How anyone can gain 6 pounds while walking 8 miles a day is beyond me, but I managed.

It was a love/hate thing. I loved saving money, I OBVIOUSLY loved the food, but there was so much of it. My husband told me to just not order so much, and I would try, but then the waiter would remind me that I had already paid for it, so my thrifty Scottish nature would kick in, and next thing I knew, I was so bloated that I could scarcely breathe.

The spirit was willing, but the flesh was oh so weak!

We purchased our park tickets thru work at a discount, our hotel (ft. Wilderness cabins) at a AAA discount. We travel next week. After reading abou tthe DDP we're regretting not going this way. Does anyone know if we can upgrade to the DDP when we arrive? We purchased the 5 day magic your way hopper's..

Thanks,

The dining plan needs to be purchased as a package & include your park tickets. It also needs to be added 5 days before your trip. Although some have been able to add it at 2 days. Since you already have tickets. You could save them for a future trip or forgo the DP.

It really does save you a lot of money ($35 for what would normally be a lot more than that is saving), however, it is a LOT of food. The plan is highly recommended for those who have high metabolisms and/or are used to eating a lot in a day.

We just returned from using the dining plan. For the tableservice meals we were planning on using we ended up getting the counter meals and snacks for free. Any place we visited we asked what the options were as some do vary. For example most snacks are either chips, soda, fruit etc but we found at Captain Cooks(POLY counter service) COOKIES were also a snack and they had some nice big yummy choc chip or oatmeal raisin.

According to the brochure I have a snack includes: Frozen Ice-Cream Novely, Popsicle or Fruit Bar, Popcorn Scoop (Single serving), Single piece of whole fruit, single serving grab bag of Frito-Lay chips, Bottled Coke or Water or Med Fountain soft drinks or apple juice.

Hope that helps you out some.

What do you mean by "For the tableservice meals we were planning on using we ended up getting the counter meals and snacks for free." Just a little confused on the "free" part. Thanks

Are there any sit down restaurants that do not allow a family to pay OOP for kids?
