FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

If the kids will share TS meals leaving additional credits plan a signature meal or character breakfast. I'm sure you won't let them go to waste.

Plus, only 2/3 of your meals are covered under the plan. So by splitting, you can actually have all your meals covered by the plan. There is little to no chance that you should have extra TS vouchers if you plan correctly.

We finally decided to do the dining Plan. I called my travel agent this morning. She called Disney and they added it right on for us. I figured this way we don't have to worry about eating expenses. For us four for 6 days it was $911.00

We will be arriving on a Wednesday morning. I would love to kick off our trip with a dinner at Chef Mickey's. However, I didn't know if my meal plan would be effective then, or if I'd have to wait until after my first nights stay. Also, am I understanding this right? If I am there for 9 days and 8 nights, then I receive 8 'meal deals' and not 9? I have already booked CRT and HDD, but need to make ADR's for the rest. I am thinking Chef Mickey's and Whispering Grill for sure. After that, there's just too many choices!

Your dining plan takes effect as soon as you check in.

You can use all of your credits in one day, or stretch them out for your 9 days.

Have fun planning and eating! :)

Thanks. Was considering one or both. What is your favorite signature restaurant? character breakfast?

Was thinking about doing one or both. Which signature restaurant would you recommend? character breafast with the best selection of food?

I need to know which meals will cost 2 credits. I'm assuming that all character meals are worth 2, but what about Whispering Canyon & other restaurants. I have found the menus on allears, but cannot seem to figure out which ones are considered 'signature.' :confused3 Thanks!

Character meals are 1 TS credit, with the exception of Cinderella's Royal Table which is switching to 2 TS.

Off the top of my head these are 2 TS:
CA Grill
Yatchmans Steakhouse
Spririt of Ohana show
Artist Point
Jiko
Flying Fish Cafe
Hoop Dee Doo
Citricos
Mickey's BBQ
Narcoossee's
Brown Derby
coral Reef

Thanks so much! This is wonderful news! I really thought I'd be paying OOP by the end of the trip. It's great to see that I'm not using as many credits as I originally thought. Looks like I'm off to make more ADRs! :cloud9:

So how do you plan on where you want to eat? What if you are in line for a ride at the time of your reservation or just not hungry? Do you plan in advance what park to visit that day and plan dining accordingly? Shoot I can't plan dinner at home for more than 1 night in advance let alone a week at WDW. i am feeling way overwhelmed here. I thought this was supposed to be fun!! I almost wish there was a service that said here is your best choice for park visits based on magic hour and here are the times and places you will eat. LOL

I am planning my dining around what park we will visit on that day. To me the planning is part of the fun although a bit overwhelming at times. Try to do one day at a time. I plan the park first and then choose where we will eat. GOOD LUCK!

I felt the exact same way...very overwhelmed. After looking at tons of reviews & menus, I decided where we wanted to eat. I then looked at advice (from several sources) on what parks to visit on a given day & planned from there. It wasn't easy. That's the only real downside I can see to a Disney vacation...so many options with only so many days. All our other vacations never required so much planning. I know it's apples & oranges, but our vacation to Universal was so much easier. Only 2 parks, FOTL access, plenty of restaurant choices...only one advanced ressie (Tchoup Chop). We never felt rushed or under pressure.

I am hoping that I overplanned...that the first week of Feb will be fairly slow & we can kinda let the day unfold however it will.

I think planning is a necessity in order to maximize your experience at WDW. The place is so huge that if you go down there without some sort of game plan, you're going to waste a lot of time trying to figure out what to do and where to got eat. I always start by outlining when I want to visit each park breaking it down into morning and evening and then start looking at the restaurants available in that area. Don't forget there are many great restaurants in the resorts also. For example, if you are visiting the MK one day, don't limit yourself to the park choices. It is only a short trek over to the Contemp, Grand Floridian, Wildnerness Lodge or Polynesian. Planning is half the fun!! :rotfl:

Hmmm, I've always planned the park around the restaurant...guess we know where MY priorities lie!

We are thinking doing the dining plan for our trip in May. I agree that it is a little overwhelming but this thread had been a great resourse. :goodvibes
