FAQ - 2010 DDP, DxDP and QSDP Everything you always wanted to know

Basically everything on the menu is included in the dining plan. You can get a combo meal (burger and fries) with a dessert and drink. I don't believe you could get the burger & fries w/ soup. You can't substitute soup for dessert or anything like that.

Thanks for your replies. I'm still not being clear. I'm referring specifically to the Earl of Sandwich. In addition to the chosen sandwich and drink, what else is covered/included on the QS plan for a meal? Or, do you just get a sandwich and drink? I guess I'm being pesky and a little dense on here instead of in the busy line at the EoS. Thanks again for your help. I do appreciate your responses.

Sorry. I remember at Earl of Sandwitch you used to get a sandwitch, chips and a drink but for some reason I think they changed that to just a sandwitch and drink and dessert (muffin top or cookie). I don't think you get chips anymore.

Okay, I have the QS plan that comes with a refillable mug for each person in our party. Do they hand you the mugs at check in or do you go to the food court and pick them up and just "pay" for them with your room card that has the dining credits on it?

You pay for the with your key card at the resort's counter service. It will have a "mug credit" for each member of your party, just like the dining credits.

Just go to the food court and you pay for them with your card that has the dining plan on it.

Last year you could have chips OR dessert. Not sure if this has changed now. So you could have the chips if you wanted, but nothing sweet with it. They made you choose: salt or sugar!

Thanks for the info on how to get the refillable mugs. This is my first time having a dining plan so this thread has been amazingly helpful.

But now I thought of something else. My sister got the PIN for the free dining and my travel agent (who is a patient and wise person:worship:) used it to book two rooms with QS dining at the All-Stars Music. One room will have my sister, her husband and my 13 yo niece. The second will have me and my 20 year old niece. So the dining plan is for a total of 5 adults.

This is my question, will one room have all five people's dining credits on it? Or will the credits be split into two groups so that we would need a card from each room if one person was picking up food for everybody?

If you have two reservation numbers, you'll need both cards when picking up food for the group.

If you have one reservation number, then all 5 of you are linked on the same card, and you'll just need one card when picking up food for the group.

Disney does this both ways, so it's impossible to say for sure which way your Sister in Law is booked.

If the first 4 days fall during the free dining & the last 6 days do not then what happens ? do you get the free dining for the length of your stay or do you get 4 free days & they charge you for the 6 nights that are not during the promotion?

1) Can a Fantasmic dinner package be booked using a TS credit at DHS?

2) What are the best dining options at DHS for dinner on a Fantasmic night at DHS in July?

If your check-in date is during the promotional period, you should be able to get free dining for your full stay up to 14 nights.

separate on the quick service plan? Will the receipts show us how many of each we have left?
My kids won't eat most of the kids meals, but my husband reeeeaaally wanted to go with some kind of dining plan. So we are going to try and go to places that have no kids menu, and probably have them share sometimes (so we aren't just throwing away food like last year), the rest of the time we will just share our adult meals with them. My husband plans to use the extra kids credits as his late night snack. Can he go to the resort food court and order a kids meal? How will we make sure he was charged a kids credit and not an adult credit? Does any of that make sense??

The kids menus are actually quite improved. There is usually one nontraditional kids option (Sub sandwich, green salad chicken leg, sloppy joe, etc) and one or two more "kid friendly" fare. Chicken strips, PBJ, Hot Dog, etc. Your kids may find themselves happier than usual with the kids menus. :goodvibes

You will need to keep track of your own kids meal credits. So if you have three kids, and the standard DDP, you know that three of your CS meals need to be kid meals each day. Keeping track is very simple really. (We were there with four adults and two kids for 10 nights in January, if we can keep it straight - anyone can)

As far as places without kids menus, IMHO their menus are pretty much the "kid friendly" fare that you find on the kid menus around the world.

The locations without kid menus are:
• Toluca Turkey Legs (turkey Legs)
• Casey's (Hot Dogs or Corn Dog Nuggets)
• Pete's Doggone Good Dogs (More Hot Dogs)
• Sommerfest (Bratwurst - Hot Dog with flavor)
• Yorkshire County Fish Shop (Fried Fish)
• Main Street Bakery (Sandwiches - also on many kid menus)
• Boulangerie Patisserie
(Sandwiches)

In March I went through the Park CS menus and put the kids menus in a comprehensive list. Maybe this will help you find places that are more palatable to your young ones. (I think it's kind of funny that when you review the list, you will see that MK has the least kid healthy items of any of the parks  )

Thank you so much!!! Very helpful!!
I think I will just make a punch card to keep track of our credits, and I will tell my husband to make sure to mention that he is using a childs credit when he orders his "snack" in the evening.
I think it's funny too that they don't have healthier options in, of all places, the MK!!! Crazy!
I don't worry too much about my kids finding stuff to eat, because last year they just ate off of our plates most of the time, and we all still walked (waddled) away full! I just hate wasting food, so I wanted to make sure my husband could get a kids meal as his "snack" (and thus leave all the uneaten desserts for me!!), with out having to drag one of the kids along with him. I think we will use some of the kids meals for breakfast too, my kids can down some scrambled eggs and bacon!!!
Thanks for moving this here too. I don't know what kind of wacky wording I used when I did a search for my question, but I just ended up with pages and pages of trip reports!!

Tricia's wonderful "Bail out the kids at mealtime" thread! I just love it!

All the parks have at least one place where they serve a kids chicken salad. (Grilled chicken and mixed greens). In the MK both Columbia Harbor House and Pecos Bills have them. They make great appetizers to share if you want to use up some kids credits. You can also use kids credits for a breakfast to share, instead of using snacks for that, and then use a snack to supplement the other meals that you share with those snacks if you feel you need a bit more food.

Tricia, thanks so much for sharing that list of the kids counter service meals with us! :goodvibes This will definitely help with our upcoming visit!

Do they still group together the Kid's meals and adult meals on the CS? I have a 9 year old who eats way too much and wants adult portions.
