Fantasy to be christened in NYC

I'm pretty much the happiest person ever. This is on my running route. :)

finally something us new yorkers get to enjoy first before florida gets it i still surprised it fits in that port and they not use the port in brooklyn that can handle bigger ships.

That's a good point; in which case I will be watching from my work balcony (that overlooks the East River).

Do you think "Lay Folk" will be able to go to the christening? I figured I would at least go see the ship in the harbor, but it'd be super cool if I can go to the event! Either way, going to try to go see the ship on of the days it will be in NYC!

It also said it be doing some preview cruises I wo dec if Disney will be kill two stones with one ship by doing some of the new NYC stops to get people really interested in thoses cruises. To bad they couldn't fit the new ship next to the intrepid that be a nice photo picture to get.

Pete, Walter, John and I will be there.

Kevin let me know what your plans are. I plan to take off those days (2/29 and 3/1) regardless if I get to go on the ship or see the christening. If you guys want to get together, NYC is only 10 miles away.

Kevin, I have read on another post on the DCL boards that the christening will probably only be open to invited guests, and travel industry professionals (as the Dream's was). This post also stated that it would be unlikely that anyone who did not fall under this category would "not get anywhere near the ship" the day of the christening. Unfortunately I have to make my work schedule for that week immediately. I can either have off one of the days the ship first is docked in the port, or the day of the christening. I would love to attend the event, but understand it is probably unlikely, and I would at least just like to see the ship from a somewhat close vantage point. With you "travel industry professional" expertise, what day do you think would be best to go to NYC?
Thanks!

(This sounds like a really convoluted math problem! :rotfl:)

From what I understand......and I'm not entirely sure I have all of the facts yet (after all...this is Disney)....no one but invited guests will be allowed to attend.

As John and Pete are the invited guests, I'm not even sure whether Walter and I can go.

It will be very difficult to make plans until Disney Cruise Line offers more information.

I don't want to discourage anyone, but I just don't have enough information to say yes or no.

Okie dokie. Thank for telling us what you know so far. I sure do hope you and Walter are able to attend!

just to let you know it will be at pier 88 in the cruise terminal in new york so you should be able to see it when you run. I hope they put it on the side that opposite from the intrepid that will be a nice picture. Plus it would be better for disney to have the pier where their guest ca see the whole ship instead of the terminal that will be inside.Just think your be running look to your right/left depending on which way your coming and see dumbo hanging from the ship.

Don't they know who you are?!?!?!
