Fantasy June 29, 2013 Meet Up!

Hi Everyone! I just found this board and joined because we are finally going on our first Disney Cruise June 29th! Woo hoo! Haven't had a chance to read through it all but I will start in the morning, it's hard to post or read much on my tablet in bed. See you all soon!
Brenda

Welcome to the group!!!

We were rescheduled too jetskigurl, for our flights down. Looks like we're going to be another hour before we get to the Hyatt poolside. As for the day pass, never done it. You might also consider an airport lounge pass, if you already have access for a frequent flier it doesn't cost too much to add family pp.

It's starting to feel like the final stretch now. We're only silver cc so have to stay up for online checkin tonight, and I've been up a good part of last night waiting to let in E.B. He's come and gone now, so I guess it's time for bed. CUL8TR

We decided to go ahead a book a day room. That will allow the kids to swim a bit and get worn out before we get on the plane. Plus we can all get showers and cleaned up before we go. I just need to remember to keep our bathing suits in our carry on bags since our other bags will be going straight from the ship to the plane.

What time does you flight get in now? We get in at 4:35 (as long as that one doesn't get changed too, LOL). I don't remember if yours was earlier than ours or later.

Oh, that reminds me. I need to look into what we want to get delivered to the hotel.:drinking1

Jetskigrl, I think that's a good move with the day room.

We ended up changing our flights down today after JetBlue pushed our flights several hours later into the afternoon. I thought we were really getting in later than I would have liked...like after 6pm landing when we have the whole day off to travel. So we're flying out first thing now, be at MCO by noon and poolside relaxing MUCH earlier than I had planned. No complaints here. Agree about the adult beverage order, I'm working on a list as we speak.

If anyone else is staying at the Hyatt MCO the night before embarkation, we would love to meet up and get the ball rolling. I was thinking poolside 7PM to 9PM, let the kids swim and the adults can unwind!

Stateroom # 8017
What DCL cruise # will this be for you? FIRST
Do you want to participate in the FE? Yes

I've already signed up for the FE and next I will find out how to make one to hang. I have some ideas to make for gifties and I'm really looking forward to this exchange.
We will be cruising with my parents and my brother, his wife, and their two kids (daughter 7 and son 5).
My daughter is so excited about this that she has been packed and ready to go for the last month!

When someone requests to join I send them a message on facebook. But since it cost $1 to send it to you main inbox it end up in your "other" inbox. I like to double check Disnames to be sure we don't end up with any Spammers and all

I just checked and I do not have a message under either section...my last name is Kirkpatrick. The page still says "cancel join request"

New to the Disboards but not to Disney. 2 families of 4 on this our 2nd Disney Cruise (7th cruise). DD 9, DD 7, niece 8 and nephew 7. Prob won't do FE since surprise trip for the kiddos. They'll find out the day before when Goofy calls! When and where are the group meetings? Also booked Cat Sail n Snorkle to Honeymoon and Buck Island. Looked at other non Dis excursions but this was better deal. Love St John and Jost Van Dyke but not enough time to see those the right way. Going with Bernard in St Maarten - we are there July 2, yes? Can't wait!!!

Ok I will check when I get to my computer. We're at WDW right now and it doesn't show me requests to join on my iPhone :)

Welcome all you new folks! I'll get you info added to the front page soon. Down with the family at WDW this week so I'll do updates when we get back!

Hi everyone! I'm new here too. We will be on this cruise with 14 other extended family members - 5 rooms scattered over the ship total. This is our second Disney Cruise, we just did the DVC member cruise in January and it was AWESOME! Can't wait for June 29th to get here. I am interested in how the FE works - can somebody give me a little tutorial on it please? We saw some on the first cruise but wasn't sure what it was exactly.
Thanks
Keep Calm and Cruise ON!

Hi Tiggerball!
I was trying to post a link for you but I can't until I reach 10 posts. What I've been doing is googling Fish Extender to get some ideas how to make one, there is a lot of information and pictures online. Sorry I couldn't give you the link for the "Fish Extender Primer". Page 26 post number 378 of this thread: Fish Extender List for 2.0 - Official Thread CLOSED ***final list posted*** gives an indepth explanation, hope that helps you find it.
I am getting excited to go on our first Disney Cruise. Been reading all the Trip Reports to get some ideas how it will be like and what to do. I was disappointed to find out how small and crowded the pools are as I'm not sure my son would be interested in the tween club.
We are going a week ahead of time to spend some time at Disney World, it will be our first time there too.
Cruise on!

Would anyone be interested in having a kids only meet thread started? Might be easier than trying to get them all emailing back and forth.

I'm thinking more for the Edge and Vibe groups.

Jim

Thanks, brendah! Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32651483&postcount=378

I haven't read the post, but in my experience it's a way for people to spread a little extra magic on the cruise. :) I've always enjoyed gifts from people's local areas, or small handmade disney-themed tokens (ornaments, keychains, etc). DD's always been fond of candy (and it can come in handy at movies and shows!)

Each exchange is different, but we've always been on cruises with fairly free-form exchange policies. We usually deliver once to each cabin (sometimes 1 bag for the whole cabin, sometimes a little something for everyone), but we've had people who deliver small gifts daily (bookmarks one day, a small first aid kit another day, pencils for the kids, etc).

Less than 3 months to go!! Woohoo!:cool1:

Here's the information I have posted on the FE sign up page with some helpful information and links:

June 29, 2013 Disney Fantasy Fish Extender List - PATRIOTS OF THE CARIBBEAN! Thanks for signing up for the Fish Extender exchange on the Disney Fantasy Eastern sailing. The cut off date for signing up will be April 14 (this is when cruises must be paid in full and it gives enough time for those personalizing their gifts.) If we wind up having a huge amount of cabins sign up, we may consider splitting into separate groups. If you have any questions or need to make changes after you complete the form, please feel free to PM me (Ranidayz) or e-mail me at ranidayz@gmail.com.

Please remember that this is supposed to be fun! :) You don't have to spend a ton of money or even make something by hand. Just a small little trinket to brighten someone's day. Just remember that if you sign up on the list, you should plan to give something as well as receive. You can find some great and inexpensive ideas in this thread on the Disboards:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639

https://www.facebook.com/groups/167311023398247/

Here is a link to a thread with sewing instructions: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1690450

If you have never done a Fish Extender before, please know that they really add to the special magic of a Disney Cruise. The only rule is that every cabin who is signed up must exchange something with every other cabin that is signed up. There are no special dates you have to deliver, no amount you need to spend. Some people will choose to do one gift per cabin, some will do gifts for individuals, some will do gifts for both. That's totally your choice. Just enjoy!

Thanks for all the great info and links. That helps a bunch.

Brendah- I think there is so much going on and to do for the kids the will stay plenty busy....and Disney World is awesome! We live about 30 mins from there and love going. Hope you enjoy your stay there too.

I think that would be a great idea. My DDs are both on the Facebook FE group, but it seems like all the teens aren't jumping in.

Can you add me to the facebook page? tried to send a message but don't have enough posts to send a personal message. Thank you!

I was trying to think of a way to help my daughter meet girls her age before the cruise, but its difficult since we are surprising her with the trip. Is anyone staying at WDW before the trip? I was thinking maybe we could do a meet up there? We are staying at AKL for a couple of days before if anyone is interested.
DD is 8 and fairly outgoing.

My DD is 8 and tells me she's shy at first but she's the most outgoing of all of us. We often wonder where she gets it from cuz I don't consider her shy at all. We will be staying off site (at Westgate) for a week beforehand and going to WDW but no set plans how many or which days yet. Maybe we can join your meet up or you can meet us at our pool!

We can do a meet on the first day of the cruise too. I know that's tough since some kids are shy but at least they can get to know faces that they can recognize.

As a person who doe`s not understand all of the abbreviations that are on this site it is hard to understand what is going on.We are DGD 9 and DW 63 and myself DH 67 at time of cruise. Will get final billing on April 15th so that gets that done. What is all this about 10 posts to get PM reply do not understand again not up on this. This will be first Disney cruise but Disney World completed many times with stays at the Beach Club on our last trip with DGD and it was great.
Happy cruising.:thumbsup2:rotfl2::bride::hug::confused3:lmao::cool1:pirate::cheer2::dance3::rainbow:
