Fantasy February 16, 2013 - 7 Night Western Cruise Meet

We have done Parasailing in Castaway Cay which is incredible! But it is a beautiful place to lay around in a hammock, rent a bike, etc. It's true paradise.

Me and the wife have planned excursions for GC and Cozumel and were thinking about Castaway Cay. But while looking at reviews and doing other research I noticed that it seems like a lot of cruisers just use the last cruise day at Castaway Cay as a relax on the beach possibly with your favorite beverage kind of day with not to many excursions. Am I wrong or am I right.

Hi everyone! We just booked for school vacation week and are over the moon excited! We cruised Disney Wonder many, many years ago before DD was even born, and then we did the Dream in 2011--both were Bahama itineraries, so Caribbean is an all new adventure for me! I know I'm coming in LATE on the booking process, so what do folks recommend for the Mexico and Grand Cayman days? Are you able to just do your own thing or is it unsafe to be on your own? My daughter is 9, so too young for some of the cool active excursions. Thanks, in advance!!!

I've been lying low, waiting to make sure we were going to make it on this cruise, since our first Disney cruise ended up canceled and changed into a WDW stay instead. Now, the cruise is just around the corner and I am sooooo excited! The cruise will be a Christmas surprise for DD9! :santa:

My cousin and her family are also booked. We love to travel together, since our DD is an only child, and she enjoys the cousins being with her. We are cat 5A, on 10th floor aft.

We've been busy planning for some excursions...not sure at all about Costa Maya...seems like such a quick stop, what does everyone recommend that would appeal to adults and kids ages 7-9? Is is safe to just explore for a little while on our own? Or maybe just stay on the ship??? :confused3

Me and my wife will be first time cruisers so we didn't want to go to crazy with the excursions. We are doing the Atlantis at GC and the combo ruins/beach club in Cozumel. We weren't to crazy about the excursions on Costa Maya plus the time is short there so we will stay on ship or visits the shops in port. Castaway Cay we just plan on lounging on the beach and relaxing. We have found in the past when you plan to much activity you sometimes forget to relax. Now we won't have any kids with us so we won't have to worry about keeping them occupied. One thing I can tell you this forum is full of info and is making my plans much easier for being a first time cruiser. So do what you can to get all the answers you need. The people in this forum are real helpful.

Thanks kshark1958! We are planning some fun stuff in GC (boatswains adventure) and Cozumel (swimming with dolphins). We're planning to snorkel and play with the sting rays on CC. So, maybe it would be fun to stay on board in CM and lay low.

You're right, lots of people with great advice here!

Is their any way of knowing which movies will be playing on your cruise ahead of time.

From the DIS DCL FAQ:

You can call 888-325-2500, choose the reservations option, then ask what movies will be showing the week you cruise.

But, don't call any more than two weeks before sailing. :thumbsup2

As DizDragonfly says, it is possible to call to see what movies are scheduled.

You can also browse the rest of the DCL forum leading up to the cruise to see what movies people are talking about.

A few movies I'm expecting might be available on our cruise -- just predictions on my part, I have no inside info:

Wreck-It Ralph
Brave
Lincoln (Disney distributes DreamWorks live action films like this)
Frankenweenie

You can probably add Monsters Inc 3D to that list. We'll be a month too early for Oz, unfortunately.

So, anybody who's been to the same ports at the same time of year, what kind of weather should we be expecting on our cruise? How about in the evenings on the ship, especially at meal times? I'm trying to decide what our casual wearin' family will be wearing to dress it up! It aught to be fun to try to get a dress on my 9 year old! :rotfl2: She used to wear them 24/7, now it's a miracle to get her in one!

All of our cruises have been President's week. Cozumel & Grand Cayman were beautiful! Temps in the low 80's. I would assume Costa Maya would be the same. It was a little breezy going from Cozumel to Castaway Cay.
My wife usually brings a sweater to the dining rooms. The AC can be a little cool. Formal night makes a great family picture, so it's nice to get all dressed up for that one!

Me and my wife are first time cruisers but big Disney fans. We will be sailing on this cruise with no kids. Anybody else on this cruise had any experience doing DCL with no kids.

DH and I have no kids. We just got off of the the Dream today. We did a back to back which made Disney cruise numbers 8 and 9 for us. Planning one more for January so we can board the Feb. 16 sailing as Platinum

Me and the wife are thinking about going all out for pirates night. Do a lot of adults do this or is mostly a kids thing also I have been checking on line for pirate outfits found several sites. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on this.

We will be going all out this sailing. There are a few others on board, traveling with us that will be doing so as well.

I checked a bunch of sites a couple of years ago for pirate costumes. There were a few that carried a decent selection. I remember seeing some good ones on sites that specialize in Renaissance Fair clothing. You can also check Ebay and Etsy. I wound up having ours custom made by a seamstress.

I'd love to kick ours up a notch. Need to find it in the budget though. LOL

That sounds great! I hope we have the same great weather! How about on Castaway Cay? Was it nice for swimming?

CALLING ALL PINK CHAMPAGNE GIRLS!!!!

Hello fellow Fantasy Cruisers! :wave2: As I mentioned earlier in this thread I am planning to head up a Pink Champagne Girls meet for our cruise. The first Pink Champagne Girls meet on the Fansaty was held in Ooh La La and we were limited to 50 participants. We maxed the 50 and had a wait list going as well.

DCL needed the name and stateroom number of each participant and they charged $20 to each person on the list for the champagne tasting which is normally $25. We requested an afternoon on the first sea day and that was what they gave us. I will make the same request this time as well. They won't give the final details on the request until about 2 weeks before we cruise.

We had a ton of fun on our previous Fantasy Cruise during the Pink Champagne Girls meet. Previous PCG meets organized by fellow DISers have been limited to ladies princess: only but I open mine up to the men :groom: as well. But the men must also abide by "the rules" :p

The rules are: Everyone brings their own pink shirt or blouse to wear to the meet. Everyone must also wear a tiara and feather boa during the tasting which I will provide and you get to keep :thumbsup2

If you wish to participate, please send me an e-mail FantasyFeb16@gmail.com I will need the name(s) of each participant and their stateroom number for DCL. Don't worry, I will not post your information in any public forum.

15 spots are now gone party:

I thought it was fine for swimming. We were in the water all day! Of course, I am used to New England water!
