Fantasy Concierge questions - please help

we are booked on the fantasy dec 2017, my hubby wanted concierge and I surprised him by upgrading to a 1 bedroom. Just some info in our room will be DH, myself, DS age 8 and nephew age 10, in our other room will be my dad and oldest son he is going to be 30 (arg I'm old lol) does the fantasy have twin bed option or just the queen and fold out sofa bed. I myself use a scooter.

We will have our nephew who will be a 1st cruiser, my dad and oldest son will be 8 doors down and they too are 1st time cruisers, will they get lanyards? I am hoping that being concierge they will lol.

Also I have a few concerns, my father moved in with us after having a stroke, he is doing pretty good, but still struggles with speech, he also seems to want to be close to me as much as possible, will they get upset if he chooses to sleep in our room? If my younger son and nephew want to sleep in my fathers room with my oldest a night or 2 will they be ok with It?

Where is the closest coffee station near the 11th floor concierge? My dad loves his coffee.

Also we really dislike dinning in the dinning rooms, is that ok if we choose not to? Should we tell them ahead of time that we will not be going to the dinners?

Also I read somewhere we can have a celebration in the concierge is this true? We will be celebrating 5 birthdays and our anniversary.


Any tips on traveling with an elder with mild disabilities would be greatly appreciated

I chose a 1-bedroom suite for our last 3-generation cruise with 9 family members. The main reason was that I wanted the 3 grandparents, in their mid-70's to mid-80's and with varying mobility, to have plenty of opportunity to interact with the grandchildren. In our prior cruises, we had connecting 4A staterooms, but I felt that it would be important to have some inviting areas where everyone, regardless of their mobility, could sit and talk quietly. That wasn't as necessary without the grandparents since we spent very little time in the staterooms.

The suite and one Cat V stateroom worked perfectly for us. It gave us four really nice areas that made a huge difference: the living room, the suite balcony, the lounge, and the sundeck (which we loved although we usually were the only people there). Areas like that, where 9 people can sit together and hear each other, are very hard to find on the Dream-class ships, at least I have yet to find a single one. The suite worked so well that we actually spent the majority of the cruise together in just those areas. Unlike our prior cruises, where we'd just stop by our rooms briefly once in a while, we'd only leave the concierge area to do something specific elsewhere on the ship.

I think you made a very smart and considerate decision. For our own upcoming cruise with the same 9 guests, we decided to try another cruise line, but I specifically looked for a suite that would work as well as the 1-bedroom on the Fantasy (i.e. an "Aquatheather" suite on Royal's "Harmony of the Seas" that sleeps 8). 1-bedrooms on DCL are very expensive and we could have gotten by without one, but I would only bring the grandparents if we had at least Cat V staterooms. That would still give access to the lounge and the sundeck which would be sufficient for my family. The additional access to the living room and the long balcony gave the unexpected benefit that people would break into smaller groups and go somewhere else when they wanted a little more privacy. That is important for us since the family is spread out over two continents and we only meet during vacations. For me, that is what justifies the cost of a nice suite.

Coffee machine is in the Concierge lounge which is in the middle of the deck 12 Concierge area or just up the elevator one deck.

As far as sleeping in different rooms than you are currently assigned, I dont think anyone is going to give you any issues with it. We have never done it before but I think the only thing you will have to figure out is how someone who isnt listed in that room can have key access to that room. (I think I have read before you can get some type of extra key to do that??? I am sure the Concierge host will do whatever you need to help you out as they can print keys in the lounge)

If you are skipping main dining all together, I would let them know as soon as you can as they may be able to seat another family in that table if needed.

Your Cat V room will not have a single bed option. You will have a queen bed and a pull out sofa bed (at least that is what the Cat V rooms we have had before all had)

The only thing to note regarding sleeping in different cabins is IF they are in different lifeboat stations, each person would need to go to their assigned station in the event of an emergency. Not that of the cabin they are sleeping in.

This may be a super dumb ? and I do apologize, but I do want to be certain that you have 1 Cat T room and 1 Cat V room. I believe you wrote 'in our other room.' You should have little trouble doing anything you describe so long as your whole party is concierge. Someone mentioned muster stations. That point is very well said. However, I am fairly certain that all concierge rooms muster in the WD Theatre, which will help with convenience.

If for some unknown reason you were placed at different lifeboat stations, you would simply have everyone report to their appropriate location for the drill. Then inform the leader of the drill of your cabin assignments and that you are travelling with a party in another station. They will make note of that and in case of emergency you would all report to the ONE location given you by the lead of the drill.
They will make note of this in their records for future reference. so that you could all be together in the event of an actual need for lifeboats.

Not all muster stations for concierge rooms are in the WD Theatre. We stayed in 12524 and we were on the outside deck.

I don't know about the Fantasy, but we were in 12028 on the Dream a couple of years ago and we had Muster Station H - outside on the deck.

We were in 12524 and we had muster station J on an outside deck.

OP asked about deck 11, and all of those rooms are concierge, so I will assume both rooms are on 11.

In terms of lanyards, only return cruisers get them. There are not special ones for concierge.

Swapping rooms shouldn't be a problem. In fact, you should be able to ask to have your keys programmed to open both doors so everyone can move freely between them.

In the 1 bedroom, you'll have the queen bed, a queen sofa bed, and a single Murphy bed. A cat V will have a queen, a queen sofa bed, and a twin bunk. One option might be to just move the three younger folks to that room since the kids might enjoy the bunk. The suite has 2 bathrooms, so your dad could still have his own space.

Coffee machine is on 12. You can also order room service.

Only the suite can order full MDR meals. While I doubt anyone would say anything if you ordered food for everyone, the table only seats 4. Other options are regular room service, Cabanas most nights, or quick serve on the pool deck. People have reported not getting a table assignment when requested, but I've never tried this.

Not sure what you have in mind for a celebration. I highly doubt they would close off the lounge or sundeck for anything private. That wouldn't be fair to the other guests paying for those spaces and amenities.

Room service is quick and most things are no extra charge. Just don't forget the tips.

I am fairly sure the process would be in place to determine space issues once they check into their proper lifeboat muster station. If there was not space, then it would not be permitted, if there were then it would. For example, Bill's family of 8 has two cabins in two different muster stations. Bill =3 in one cabin and Bill's parents plus 2 in another. They each report to the proper locations ( A for Bill and B for folks) Bill checks in with the drill leader A and tells them he would like to go to Station B with his parents. They check the status of that station and find that there is room for them, so off they go.
Had there NOT been room, they would not have been allowed to go.

Is it a lot of work? Heck yes, but evidently DCL has experienced this before and can figure out how to make it work.

If you don't make it to that station, no ones gonna go looking for you and you're going the same way as the boat, because you're checked into your lifeboat and safely on it.

Now, if you really wanted to be in the same boat the way to do it is to just go to one assembly station all together. But (I would hope) no one would let you check in at one and then leave.

Ultimately this decision is down to the captain and not concierge.
Yes Disney is about making guests happy and granting every wish as much as possible, but something like this is safety, and safety overrides happiness every time!

Like I said, if it's happened for you good for you. But don't expect it from all the assembly leaders.

So, the leader told them correct, like I said, pick one go there. But check in at one and then leave, nope.

But remember, in an actual emergency, if everyone chose to join another muster station, you have the potential for a very over crowded and uncomfortable deck, along with very very cramped lifeboats, don't know if you've ever been in one (I have, not even at capacity and I spent my time with someone's knees around my ears, staring at someone's butt, not able to see anything and getting rather warm).
Honestly the reason that everyone is assigned to a station is to make it as evenly dispersed and as comfortable and easy as possible for everyone involved in an awful situation.

Now if you're talking about being with family members during the drill, in the nicest possible way, suck it up for a few minutes, you have the rest of the cruise to be together.

Sounds like you have planned a great vacation. If both your cabins are concierge, even if they are on deck 11, coffee is a few feet away up the stairs in the concierge lounge, and on 11 you are across the hall from the spa One of the perks of concierge, is ask them anything...they try to make it happen, whether it is having meals in your room, coffee delivered, or making sure everyone is comfortable...enjoy...We have traveled concierge on Fantasy 5 times now the hosts are outstanding. Kemeesha, Twanda, PJ, and Amanda will make sure anything you need happens. Also you can call shoreside concierge anytime before you get on the ship to answer any questions...Enjoy
