**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't gotten to know anyone very well yet. Shortly after this group was formed we happily found out we were expecting another baby AND bought a new house, remodeled and sold our old house and moved. So, the cruise planning was put a bit on the back burner. lol.

Our second daughter Alexandra was born in December and will be 5 months old when we depart on this trip...a little nervous about that, but hey, it's Disney.

Anyways, I'm hoping to play a little catch-up and get to know you all before departure. :)

Cheers!
Welcome Back, and congrats! Good luck with the catching up:surfweb: I am still trying!

It was a BLAST! One of the players (a really cute one at that--shhhh! Don't tell DH!) came over and flipped a puck to Joey and he just thought it was so cool. There was some colorful language in the penalty box, but luckily DS was clueless to what any of it meant (which kind of made me proud!) so he didn't realize what was happening until I opened my mouth to him to say I NEVER wanted to hear anything like that come from him! We got to sit next to his old preschool teachers hubby in the press box (he's the sportscaster for a local station) and he got to see his first hockey OT and shootout. We ended up losing in the shootout, but it was still so fun!

My DH surprised us by doing this on the last cruise as he's an early to bed/early to rise sort of guy. I, on the other hand, am the stay up/sleep in type on vacation, so it worked out really well in the mornings the boys and I wanted to be lazy! Wondering if we can just make it a routine for this round???
Jen, we are from St. Louis and major Cardnals fans as well as The Blues! My sister is a megga fan and is upset that we will be in the post season while on the cruise! I said we can watch the games on board and she says its not the same. I agree its not like being in St. Louis it was great when we won the world series and we are hoping the blues will win us a Stanley Cup this Year!

Thanks! Our eldest (Elle) was 17 months when we took our last cruise, but it was only 4 nights and we didn't put her in the nursery. She'll be 4 this time. In fact, the cruise is sort of a birthday celebration, as well as our vacation. :) She'll be off to enjoy the clubs. Little sister (Alex) had been booked for a few hours in the nursery when we go to Palo and Remy, but I'm not sure how or when else we might want to do that. --How'd the evacuation drill go when your DD was 4 months? I remember the struggle we had getting that life jacket thing on a 17 month old...not looking forward to trying it on a 5 month old. lol.

Thanks! I see you are in Manchester. My DH was born in Bebington, so not too far from you. :)
My neice was just talking about this. Her twins were three years old. Her son was scared and tired, she was a plus size mom with the lifejacket on trying to hold a three year old with his life jacket while he was squirming. The guy yelled at her telling her "This is serious info its not funny" I hope we dont have to wear life jackets during the drill.

I have a t-shirt that plays on that fact....will try to post a pic.
I love you:love:

It's official!! We are BOOKED!! It will be sharon and Megan(15) we have a guaranteed verandah room

Just in case you missed it before – I am a HUGE Donald Duck fan & Donald Applecore is the name of one of my favorite Donald Duck shorts. If you want to watch it, there is a link to it in my signature.

Something you guys don’t know is that I have been in the process of opening my own law practice for that past six months or so. I was laid off from a small firm last summer. (They apparently were having money issues, as they closed their doors at the end of the year). I got a few job offers, but nothing I really wanted to do so I turned them down – ultimately I decided to just GO FOR IT!

Anyway, I have started very small – doing a lot of contract work for other firms to make ends meet & keep the doors open. I also have an adjunct position at one of the law schools here in the meteroplex. I recently started putting together my web-site. The process is very slow as I am doing it myself & I am not very overly tech-savvy. Check it out if you like, its still incomplete, but feedback is welcome. (feel free to PM feedback if you prefer, but I am pretty thick skinned;))

Keep your fingers crossed for us and please send some prayers. My uncle Tony is in the hospital and very sick, they aren't sure if he is going to pull through. We're hoping that they will be able to get him well and that he'll pull through.

!
Well I was going to send out prayers for your uncle Tony but instead I will send out happy wishes to your family for his health improvement and more days ahead.

1) What one thing are you most interested in "discovering" on the Fantasy?

My fav color combo is neon green and light blue. So I am looking forward to seeing the atrium! Go figure

2) Who are you most excited to see/meet and why?I am super excited about meeting all of you too. The other part will be seeing my family at dinner everynight to catch up on what they did that day. Its a cool part of the memory making

3) What is/are your kids most over-the-moon excited about?

Well Tony and I are over the moon about meeting other Disney crazy people like us. My daughter Kelsey.....I think she is just ready to be done with her first year of school, and being a kid again! Disney just brings it out.

4) What non-kid activity are you most looking forward to?

I think the kids are what make it fun for me. Mine or other people (no I am not a stalker) I just will talk to anyone and everyone and being around disney makes me think of my Mom and Dad and the joy of Disney the instilled in me.

5) What flavor/taste are you most looking forward to on the Fantasy?
All I can say is that I will try new things but my fav is just choc icecream with almonds if they have that I will be on cloud 9.
!

I really like being able to identify other DISers. I sometimes attend activities alone and I look for a DISer to sit with. I always know they will be friendly to a stranger and not mind having me join their group!

On other cruises, we've worn green wrist bands, but after a few days it seemed people forgot to wear them. The lanyards are usually on you.

Is there anyone in our group who has the computer design skills to make a nametag we can insert into our lanyards? (This is NOT my area of expertise!)

I've seen the distribution of the tags done in several ways. Sometimes a person stays in the terminal for a preset time and gives them out. I've seen a location on deck where someone gives them out in the late afternoon before the sail away party. Also, the tags can be divided up and volunteers deliver them to your cabin door. (I'd volunteer to help with that. It's a good way to explore the ship.)

WOULD THE GROUP LIKE TO DO THIS? :dance3:I
I can ask my son, (the computer major) to design a spreadsheet for people to use if they would like name tags for their family. He'll be home from school next weekend for Easter if we can decide by then.

So we would need a volunteer that can design the nametags and know how to print them. And then a few people to help distribute them.

Actually, we could also just have the colored tags printed with DIS on it and each person could write their own name on the tag instead of having them totally preprinted. Then we would just need a number for how many to print. We don't want this idea to stress anyone out!

Any other ideas on how to coordinate this??

Barb :beach: See you all soon!
love the idea

What we had done previously, was just used the same template design, and then printed them ourselves at home. That way no one had to had them out, and those that didn't want to wear them, didn't print them.
Omg I love this idea

Can someone please help me figure out how to upload a file? I made an image and created a template but its in Word 2010 and well I am not sure how to share a file?

Here is the image that I created and added to the template:
i-5Sg7KZd-Th.jpg
I love this too

I used the button we got at the sail-a-bration yesterday and added our date onto it. I had to use the format yyyy/mm/dd because of the space on the button. I then pasted the image onto a template for 3x5 index flash cards but if you resize based on how big of a name tag you want to have you could use a different template.

If someone can help me upload a file from word, then you are free to use the template I made.

Here are some of my photos of the Disney Fantasy sailing out to sea from Jetty Park in Port Canaveral Florida on 3/31/2012:

I'm still working on the video of the Fantasy.
Thanks for sharing I loved the photos!

Some names have been discussed before, like DonaldApplecore for example.
But I've been wondering what some of the others mean...please share! And Bryan...feel free to share again!

Also, please share one thing that no one here on the boards yet knows about you...it could be that you ran a personal best marathon, or got a doctorate that we don't know about.

Mine---DizDaddy (Tony)...just what it means-----it's pretty obvious, as is our love of everything Disney. I feel very fortunate that we have been able to share all of the Disney experiences with our kids. Hence, I proudly set up DizDaddy when I created my profile. Big (or not so big) reveal: I've even got a Disney tattoo that I've posted on a different thread....it's a Mickey-heads armband. Here it is:

Well, my dis name is Sues because my name is Susan. My sister in law has been calling me Sues for about 20 years and I kind of like it. The number 14 is because my mom and dad raised 14 children and I am tge 14th child (she gave birth to fifteen but he passed at two days old). So if you didnt know it yet I was a little bit spoiled! hmmmm lets see, something you guys dont know about me?!I have lost 140 lbs so far since June of last year I have a lot still to loose but that is where I am at now.

Wow! Welcome to our group you will love us! We are the Bomb:thumbsup2

Hi all I am once again caught up. I didnt post on eveything I wanted to but you have all been in my thoughts. Matti, I am glad that both trips went well and I know your daughter will do great with her brace. Jen, I hope you are doing good health wise after surgery but at least you can eat anything on the cruise and not have to be carefull or be in pain. Barb, I hope your knee is better so you can get around well on the ship. Jamie you are funny! Now that I am caught up again I will try my best to stay that way.

As far as after the cruise I hope this group doesnt end until after we share photos! Im sure we will find many new facebook friends. I cant believe we will be cruising next month. I have an app on my I phone that counts down to disney. Its great! :dance3:

Congratulations Sue, that's awesome!

I like the DIS ID tag idea. Would be happy to print my own if someone makes a template.

My DIS name is what my grandchildren call me. When I signed up for DIS I had to come up with a name quickly and that was all I could think of. Once I was on I realized that most people have a Disney reference in theirs. But once you have a name you can't change it. :rolleyes1

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: And, I won tickets to Disney on Ice from a local TV station the other day. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: So we will be going to that in early May and then the cruise! Getting more excited everday. :dance3:

The drill was no problem at all because we were not required to put life jackets on. Our last several cruises that was not required. Not sure if things changed since the Concordia though. Our last cruise was in December on RCCL. My DW and I forgot to ask the room steward for an infant life vest. Then the very next month the Concordia happens. We both turned to each other and said how stupid it was of us not to remind the room steward for one. My DW now wants us to take an emergency bag with us and include diapers, wipes, food, water, etc. She was saying how she couldn't imagine what we would do in that situation. While the chances are so remote it's not worth the argument!!! So starting with this sailing we'll have an emergency bag.

Good idea. I've been a little apprehensive since the Concordia. If it was just DH and I, I wouldn't miss a beat. But thinking of the kiddo's in a situation like that terrifies me.

Stephanie - we are north, in Avery Ranch. Are you from here?
Yes! We are in Steiner Ranch. :)

Congratulations!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
Thank you!

I like the idea of printing from home for those that want to wear them. :thumbsup2

Elaine, I'm also traveling with the AllEars group. Where did you get the card or did you just print that up yourself ... or is it a magnet? Either way I love it!

Quick question: Do I just let my TA know that we are DVC members? I understand you get a magnet for your door if they know you are members. We are not using points for the cruise so I guess I can have her put somewhere on the reservation, right?

Cheryl
We'd be part of the AllEars group too, except that since we had already booked our cruise through DVC, using points, before they announced the meetup date, they won't let us join the party. I thought that was a little rude, especially considering we've been AllEars followers for 10 years and booked several trips through MouseFan Travel...just not since buying DVC. Oh well. --I'd have your TA note DVC on your ressie. We got a door magnet on our last cruise. We weren't traveling on points, but it was the "free" cruise we got for adding onto our membership a few years ago, so I assume it was noted on the reservation. There's a DVC member party/reception onboard, if I remember correctly too. :)

Still catching up!!

WL1117 - Wilderness Lodge, November 17th -Where and when we were married. :)

I used to be Asuneda (A Sunny Day) on these boards, but somehow forgot my password and cannot seem to figure out what old email I used, so we started using DH's account.

Something you don't know about Bryan and I - we were a mediaeval nobleman and his lady - and it had nothing to do with reincarnation!:hourglass princess:

Want to know more - ask us when you see us next month!

Here is the video from Saturday that I took. Sorry for the shaking and jerky movements my accident in July has left me with trembles, balance issues, and random jerky movements. Mom would have shot the video but she was doing the photo taking.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQZrINO0i2k

My screen name came about when I joined and was in the planning stages for a trip to Orlando to look for apartments. I had been chatting on another message board for a long time and at the time was a "guide" on that board. I found the DIS boards and have found it to be chock full of information more so then the other board. So I joined.

I chose this name because when we moved we would be living our Dream of living as close to the Magic as possible. So livingthewdwdream became my screen name.

I can't wait to get our documents but I think its going to be closer to the 30 mark before we get anything in the mail. Given we are at 47 Days!!!!! Gonna have to keep occupied with watching youtube videos, look at photos online, and work on packing things I don't need before we leave into the suitcases, for our cruise.

Hi all!

First, just to alleviate any curiosity, those of us in the AllEars group still haven't gotten any information bout scheduled events. I'll post when we hear more. :)

My screen name comes from the fact that Donald is my favorite Disney character (I have a kindred spirit in Bryan!). The reason why he's my favorite character, however, is because my dad can do the voice. My dad isn't the most emotionally-available man. He's a hardworking man who worked hard to provide for his family, and that meant working a job that was very trying and giving up many of his own dreams. He isn't always so good about letting loose and having fun, so when he would do the Donald voice, it brought me a TON of joy. Still does. I get tears in my eyes just typing this. :)

Oh, and the "gal" is attributable to being a woman. :)

Something you don't know about me... hmmm. I'm don't feel like there's much interesting about me, so I'll cast a wide net in hopes of sounding more mysterious and fascinating than I really am. ;) I had my nose pierced in college, a little diamond stud in my right nostril, and still would have one if I could with my job. I'm a counselor, and I spend most of my week treating 18-22-year-old women for eating disorders. I'm a pretty good mimic; I can usually copy someone's style of speech, mannerisms, etc. after a conversation or two. I used to think it was silly to pay to get your tires rotated because "your car rotates them for free each week." When I bought my first car and read the manual, that's the first time I understood the concept. Ahhh, the joys of life inside my head! :)

Great questions, Tony! And have a good night, all! :)

ETA: Apparently, something we might not have known about me but is now public to the world is my love of the totally boring DIS smilie known as : :)

Yes!!! It seems like the cruise is still months away but we should be getting them in the next few weeks.
We wanted to participate in the allears group but I wanted the obc through a different ta instead. I was really hoping to be able to participate in some of the activities anyway (probably just cuz I love getting free give away stuff). I'm bringing my allears trading cards though and hoping I can trade some and get new ones. Interesting that they haven't posted any details yet. Busy sailing on the Fantasy I guess.

Not waiting so patiently for the documents... but waiting all the same.

We finally have a stateroom number assigned to us!! We still got the room type we wanted 8A- two porthole windows! We are #6510!! :cool1:

It's getting so close!! Now we can actually say we are leaving next month!!!

How exciting Debbie!!! Sounds like fun!!!

Yes! We are in Steiner Ranch. :)

Really close!! We know a bunch of folks in Steiner, but then again, it is HUGE!

I agree - can't believe it is next month. Been so busy haven't had time to think of it so much. Hoping work will slow down soon so I can get FE gifts done. At this point, don't think I have time to order a new FE like the kids wanted so will have to stick with the old one. Also haven't thought about pirate night much - anyone dressing up?

Oh and Texfinn - I use this a lot on other boards/games as well.

I am from Texas, been here since I was 5 but moved away twice -- thus the Tex :goodvibes and Joni (my DH) is from Finland. I met him in Texas but moved to Helsinki, married him there and lived there for a year and a half. We go back every year and a half - so every third summer and every third Christmas. It is now a second "home" for me so thus the "finn" :goodvibes

As for something most people don't know about me -- a few years back I did the triathalon -- 12 weeks prior to the triathalon, I learned how to swim. I knew how to do basic swim underwater from point a to b but not really swim as in "strokes". I am still not good at it but did learn freestyle well enough to swim the 1/2 mile in the lake for the race. I can only really freestyle and doggy paddle so every time I took a rest, the lifeguards at the triathalon thought I was drowning :rotfl: - had to keep waving them away! I was slow but I finished the tri! And no, didn't catch the bug and don't think I will be doing any more :rotfl2:

Glad you got your room assignment!!! We were guarantee on our last cruise and the day we got our room number was so exciting. It really made it seem more real. We started studying the decks and where our room was in relation.
