**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Hi There, New to the board....Myself, Hubby and 2 kiddies, son 9 and daughter 6 are all VERY excited for May 19th!!! First time cruisers!!! Looking forward to catching up and meeting everyone on the board.

Don't stress too much about the restricted rates. Our cruise is significantly higher priced than the weeks before and after so it must be selling well. I've recently heard the igt, ogt, vgt rates are already available for summer cruises on fantasy so I don't expect they will be released for our cruise. I'm not an expert though, just guessing. I did just check our cruise and the rate isn't available. Oh well. We're paid in full too. And while it will be irritating if the rates come out and I can't benefit I am comfortable with what we paid.

I think its the fact that there is a group onboard from All Ears they seem to draw a large crowd among many different Disney websites as well as Facebook so I think that they are drawing the larger crowd. Plus with this leading up to Memorial Day Weekend it could also be why its more popular.

Once we pay in full we stop looking at prices otherwise it would drive us nutty if a discount came out that we couldn't take part of.

Amy
Also Cruising is...Angela (Amy's mother)

We are still deciding on excursions and if we really want to do them, which ones, we booked the Under 2 Flags tour for St. Marten and the St. Thomas Island Tour that goes to the Mountain Top and the Great house but we did both of these tours in 2006 and are worried that we will be bored.

We would just go shopping but we sorta feel like it'd be a waste to only shop, and we would love to spend every day onboard the fantasy but we don't want to do nothing either on the islands.

So hard to decide glad we have a while to do that but sorta glad not to long either!!

Amy and Angela

Funny I was going to mention the allears thing too but wasn't sure how big their group was or how much influence that would have. But i believe you are right. That is a factor too.

As for Joey, waiting for a call back from Children's Hospital to see what to do...

Glad you heard back. Always a worry with the kids - glad to hear Joey (and eveyone else) is feeling better! :goodvibes

:wave2:Hi everybody! It's been a SUPER long time since I've been on the boards, but now with the cruise getting closer - I'm ready to get back in the game!! .....AND my wonderful Key-Lime Pirates DIS crew! :grouphug:

~Amanda~

Can't wait to see you guys soon! Be in DC in 2 weeks!!!! :cool1::cool1:

Hi All! Unfortunately, we had to cancel our booking. Go ahead and take us off the list of DISers on the cruise JohnPA. Bummer for us, but I hope y'all have the BEST time!

Bummer, sad you aren't joining us...

But it's a BEAUTIFUL day up here in Philly. Almost Castaway Cay weather! :rotfl2: Ok, not THAT beautiful.

We had great weather when we were in Philly last week. Can still taste that cheesesteak from the Market -- - yum yum!

You should be happy to know that right as I was reading your post about laundry...you reminded me I still had mine in the dryer from last night! I also just started another load, so know that you inspired someone today...small task but still inspiration!:wizard:

Ok, you both are making me feel bad. Have a huge mound of laundry ready to throw in washer in my closet. I have been stepping around it now for 3 days! :rolleyes1

....Glad I inspired someone, lol :) I told the DH that I was going to start setting aside the suitcases for the trip, so I'm trying to inspire myself a little too! After all, getting some of the clothes into the suitcases will clean up the laundry room a little, right??? ;)

I need to do that. My SIL and her family are coming for almost a month in April - somehow need to get off my bottom and start cleaning up the guest room - has become some kind of storage room! :scared1:

For those of you who are bored......I just started to dabble in this arena.....

Nice! Enjoyed reading! Couldn't see your picture very well though and agree on the title font, hard to read. I did enjoy! Keep it up!

Amy - I think you are right. Oh well, the more, the merrier - just better change any plans I had for the pool on sea days!:laughing:

Amy and Angela

We signed up for Barnard's tours with Kathy and her family (minus Brian who just wants to watch the airplanes land). A little taste of everything. I think I did the Under 2 Flags tour 8 years ago when I visited the island. I was pregnant with Kai then and already had pregnancy brain so don't remember much. :rotfl:

Funny I was going to mention the allears thing too but wasn't sure how big their group was or how much influence that would have. But i believe you are right. That is a factor too.

Gail, (it is Gail right?) I wonder how big the group is too. I think Chasity and Gus are part of that group but none of the other former KLP'ers. Not sure of anyone else on the board. Is that marked on our list?

so....after a long day of this ---> :surfweb: at work, have been trying to de-stress all night long and, while enjoying a lovely glass of port (after I promise only 1 glass of wine) started thinking, I wonder if the Meridian bar (is it called that?) is open during the day?

Doesn't that sound like just a great hideaway to chill with a glass of wine and book during the day? This is assuming the kids are in the kids club.

I had the scene all played out in my head, sun shining, my hair blowing in the wind, reading a wonderful story on my ipad (with my hair not getting in the way) and a lovely lovely glass of champagne (only the real stuff) in my hand.......sigh.........sounds like heaven. :cloud9:

The reality will probably be more like - I sit down with my hair in a ponytail so it doesn't get in my way, get all situated, look at the bar menu, freak out at the prices, order a glass of the cheapest white because I am a cheapskate, settle into my book only to have my wave phone buzz me that Kai wants out of the Kid's Club. :scared1:

Can you tell I am a teensy weensy bit anxious about travelling alone for 10 days with both of my kids??? :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I am sure he will love the club, as will Sabrina and I will be bored and shouldn't worry.....Guess that is what work stress will do to you! :confused3

It is rainy in ATX (Austin, TX) and they expect inches and inches of rain through Sunday. Being a sunshine type of gal, am going to fight to keep my spirits up. Happy about the rain after last year's droughts and fires but already miss the sun. :guilty: Today, an ATX icon died and Austin became a little less weird (it is our city motto - seriously, look it up "Keep Austin Weird"). Leslie Cochran, a homeless man who ran around in a bikini, feathered hats & boas and who smiled and waved at everyone passed away. I remember him from years and years ago -- a bit sad.

Now, if that is the only "sadness" for me to complain about I should just shut up :scared1:, my life is good. :goodvibes

I hope y'all had a great Thursday and are looking forward to a fabulous Friday!!!!

We're part of the All Ears group, too. I don't think anyone knows how big the group is; we haven't gotten any information from the TA about that yet. I assume meets and such will be announced closer to the time we leave. In any case, I'll come back and post updated information as soon as it's sent to us.

Welcome!

Things are good here in Ohio... I just had my 32nd birthday yesterday (the 7th) :wizard: and am on spring break from my full-time job as a counselor at a Christian university. Thus, this week has been devoted big time to relaxing and DISigning. I might post our signs when I get them done. I've got a lot in the works and will need to whittle them down, but I am having fun creating as well as employing the help of amazing DISers like millipie and cruisecrasher. It's hard to believe the cruise is getting so close, but I'm okay with it!

I hope you all have a great night!

Jenny :)

Please do tell us what they have planned and all, once you find out. I wanted to join the group but I took the obc from a different ta instead. I did indicate on their fb page that I'm sailing too. I think there might be a list over there too of all the people. I will check there to see ifi can get an idea how big the group is. I'm still holding out some hope of being able to attend some of the events but we'll see. I'm not really a joiner, more of a wall flower really. And since I'm sailing with extended family who arent on all ears or this board, just seemed to make more sense to take the obc.

I just had my 32nd birthday yesterday (the 7th) :wizard:

Hapy Birthday!!!:yay:

My husband and I both have birthdays this month too. Our trip is a belated birthday present to ourselves. :)

So nice to hear things are going well for so many people. I hope everyone stays well in time for the cruise! My husband is finally over whatever ailment he had and the cat is on a new medication to help his eye get better. *fingers crossed*

Is anyone else here planning on doing the Castaway Cay 5K? I am in training for the Canadian Death Race (Leg 2, not the whole thing, I'm not that crazy) and should keep up my training whilst on vacation. If there are any running buddies on here I'd love to hook up for some early AM runs around the track.

Hope the Cat gets better soon! Good Luck on the Canada Death Run not sure what that is but must be hard to complete if it has Death in the name!

I didn't realize there was going to be a 5k for our cruise date? Anyone know how that will affect the whole getting off the ship times?

You'd be surprised that I don't swim in Oceans, lakes, rivers or ponds because I'm afraid of fish. So we get off the boat on CC day get chairs in the shade and then enjoy the fresh air until Lunch on the Island. Once we are done with lunch we get back on the boat and relax on our verandah. So I'd hate to lose out on getting on the island early to avoid the extreme heat of the afternoon but it will be interesting to watch the runners I guess.

Glad to hear the cat and hubby are doing better! I'll run with you. I didn't know they had a 5K on Castaway Cay! I would totally be up for that! Do you get a medal too?? I already Have my Mouse Ears medal for the Disney Full and the Wine and Dine Inagural Half. I'll be more than happy to run with you on deck, I do it all the time on cruises anyway....works off the food and the hangover! :rolleyes1 Besides It's always a beautiful morning, the ship is quiet, and it's peaceful!

Don't you forget that we will have our fully stocked bars on deck 2 for any of our adult beverage needs . I too am a real cheapskate when it comes to paying for alcohol. I'm glad that we will have 4 days at WDW after the cruise to work on what we don't consume on board. Also, my sister and her family will be at WDW for 11 days (arriving the day after the cruise), so I have already told them that they get our "leftovers" :scared1:. I'm sure you will do great with the kids, and remember that you are travelling with your extended DIS family who will help you with anything :grouphug:.

Welcome! I have a 9 year old boy too (and one who will be 8)-- They're so excited about there being so many kids around their ages :)

I had the scene all played out in my head, sun shining, my hair blowing in the wind, reading a wonderful story on my ipad (with my hair not getting in the way) and a lovely lovely glass of champagne (only the real stuff) in my hand.......sigh.........sounds like heaven. :cloud9

Sounds perfect to me!!!!

I miss Ohio! Grew up between Akron and Cleveland. Came down to WV to go to WJU, met my hubby and somehow didn't find my way back home :)

I didn't know there was one! I am oscillating back and forth between "I'm going to keep up with working out on this trip" and "I'm on VACATION and the only exercise I'm going to get is lifting my hand to my mouth to eat and drink..." :) However, I've lost 22 pounds since the new year and I have 13 to go to my goal, so I'm thinking that it might be worth it to keep up a *little* :)

I'm bringing a bottle of Three Olives Cherry... It goes in anything from coke to sprite to fruit punch to OJ :-) We're getting the wine package for dinners, so just need a little something for poolside. Maybe I'll even bring a few drink umbrellas, haha :) I figure that will satisfy my inner college girl :)

We love Ocean Springs....we moved here 6 years ago! We never want to move anywhere else.....except maybe Kissamee....lol

My parents just moved back to Memphis about a year1/2 ago. Their fixed income couldn't keep up with the way insurance premiums kept rising after Katrina. Add in some additional medical issues & it just made more sense for them to move closer to family.

They lived right on a bayou just the other side of the Washington Ave Bridge. Before they bought that house, we would stay on an old Motorsailer that my dad bought when I was a kid. We were one of the first boats to get a slip at point cadet marina back before the Casinos came to town - LOL!!!
