**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

I REALLY should be working instead of messing around on the DISBoards, but you know how it is when you're thinking about cruising. I just needed a little fix :rotfl:.

Anyway, found the post where bookite mentions "jump up". Here's a link to the post.

While skimming the old post I saw that, I believe it was Tink133 got neon green bracelets made for the Key Lime Pie-rates. I think that's a great idea. I haven't seen anything mentioned in this thread, so I thought I would bring it up. Anyone interested (once we have a name)? Here's a link to Tink133's post.

We had green wristbands on our Dream (First to Dream it Twice) cruise back in May and I just think it's a great little personal souvenir. Plus, it helped us recognize people from the cruise thread. I'm all for it!

I liked the idea alot. The KLP-ers said it was very helpful...

Who volunteers to organize it???

Hello all, we are just joining up. Booked in June on the Magic while in the Med. :goodvibes Thank you so much to all the organizers and folks who have this so thoroughly set up. Wow, I was not expecting 34 pages 9 months out. Amazing.

If anyone has any answers, I have just a few questions for the more veteran sailors:

1) on disneycruise.com it mentions that the pirate and cast off deck parties are on the Magic and the Wonder. Does this mean they are not held on the Fantasy and Dream? Not enough deck space?

2) Has anyone been on the Dream? What was your sense of how the greater numbers affected everything from getting seats for the shows to finding a lounger on the deck? Is it really different from the Magic/Wonder?

3) Any ideas why this cruise is so much more sold out than the ones before or after? It's crazy, there are already no inside or oceanview staterooms for parties of four! (we're recruiting family to join, but it's getting all booked up) Seems like it's booking up a lot faster than most...

Thanks guys, I know people don't always have time to answer the random question here and there, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Hope everyone is surviving the heat over there in the U.S. Happy dreams of cool breezes to come to you all. :sunny:

I can answer a few of these from our Dream cruise last May.

The pirate and sailaway parties are on both the Dream and Fantasy. As well as the fireworks.

We had no problems finding seats for the shows but finding an empty lounger was an issue. Not too many people were sitting in them but their stuff was.
The deck parties were crowded up on the upper deck above the pools.

Howdy, and welcome! We'd like to get you added to our profile on page one, so please give us some more details on your group, and if possible include a pic!

I'll take a shot at your questions:

1) I've seen Dream footage on YouTube of the cast-off party on the Dream, so I fully anticipate that it will be on the Fantasy as well. We have people on this board that have been on the Dream and have pirate pics to share, so YES, they have the Pirate party.

2) Like I said, we have travelers who have been on the Dream (I'm jealous). I'm sure they will reply and give their opinion on the crowds, etc.

3) It's likely sold so much because people have seen how awesome our board participants are, and they want to join in!!! All kidding aside, I know that there is a travel agency group that has reserved rooms, and the inside staterooms are in demand because of the virtual porthole. We heard as early as Dec/Jan that those rooms were hot commodity.

It is a hot one here in the St. Louis, MO area. I'm beginning to forget what rain looks like. If we could install jets on our pool (which is oversided....), we'd have one heck of a hottub.

Regarding naming our group.... I think the naming of the survey mishap (no fault of Tony's at all - I wouldn't want to spend $199 on the pro membership either, and the survey idea was a good one).

The options I see are:

1) Start all over and create a new survey. This, IMHO, is too much work.

2) We could each submit a post with our top 5 choices. Since we'd be doing this by hand, it'll be easier on the tabulator if we limit ourselves to 5 choices. I think we need to be strict with this, meaning we really do stick to just the top 5 (I know sometimes I have trouble being decisive ;)), because if some submit 5 and others submit 6 or 7, we'll skew the results. I also think we could give ourselves a deadline on this so that we can cross this off the to-do list, so-to-speak. Once we have a top 5 list made up of the winningest choices of our individual top 5 submissions, then we could somehow do a poll in this thread with those 5 options and everyone could vote for their favorite. The one with the most, wins.

#2 is my personal choice. I'm open to other ideas.

I've been racking my brain over this dilemma! The majority of the feedback has been to proceed with the results thus far and create the top 5 or top 10. I don't want this to slight anyone, so I'm taking measures to make sure everyone is represented. I'm waiting to hear back from messages sent where concerns were expressed. Once I hear back, I will post an update, and we can make some decisions then.

I'm open to everything and anything.

Hi all!

I just wanted to jump in and say hello as we are booked on this cruise.
A little info: I'm Simone and I'm from Sydney, Australia. Me and the other half Steve took our littles on a 3 night Bahamas cruise on the Dream on May 19th this year. It was there we realised we loved Disney Cruises so we rebooked another for the same date next year! It is a massive trip for us but we loved it so much we have worked our whole trip around the cruise! :lovestruc We are all so excited to be going again! The kids are forever saying "whe we go on the Mickey cruise boat"
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome aboard! Looking forward to meeting you and DH. Would love to hear about Australia and area. It's one of the places I'd like to visit.

I put what info I had of you on our trip spreadsheet. Let me know more if you'd like it posted.

Welcome! We were on the Dream June 3, 2011 cruise.

1. Definitely both parties are held just like on the Magic/Wonder. The fireworks were a little better I thought, maybe I had just forgotten the one's on the Wonder.

2. Things are laid out differently on the Dream (and I will assume they won't change much on the Fantasy). As reported above, lots of seats at the shows. We didn't have a problem finding loungers but - we were 4 adults and there are plenty of loungers above the adult pool. Not very many AT the pool. The way it's laid out, the only steady sun is on the pool itself, not around it. 2 of us did venture down to the family pool and got a couple of loungers on the deck above the pool, right where the Aquaduck pops out of the tube to get a little boost from the water jets. As each tube went by, a few drops of water fell on us, keeping us cool. Down by the pool, it looked like there weren't many loungers free, although only a few had occupants.

3. Obviously this is the best cruise of the year because YOU'RE on it!

I added your name to the spreadsheet, but don't have any other information. If you'd like more posted, send me a PM or post here.

:cool1:

John----they sent me their info via PM. I will get it added to the profiles on page 1 and share it with you for the spreadsheet.

I think the second option sounds good. I wouldn't suggest it since it is a lot of work. But I think it would be more fair. I know my votes and at least 2 others didn't count the first time. Thanks for taking the time to do this :cheer2:

Soooooo do you want the bad news or the worse news?

Bad News: I've confirmed that the poll is non-functional.
Worse News: It's because we have a basic/free account with Zoomerang.
The basic account only allows 100 votes for the poll.
Upgrade to a PRO account is $199/year.

Now I like y'all a whole bunch, but $199 will go towards our vacation before it goes to Zoomerang!!!

So it looks like we have a couple of choices:

1. We can go with the results we have thus far, and submit our top ten in a new poll for final voting.....

OR

2. We can find another polling site and start the poll anew,

OR

3. We can start the same poll again, anew and let it gather another 100 votes.

Remember that end game is that we narrow down to either top ten or top five, and open a new poll that allows everyone only ONE VOTE.

Sooooo.....input? :confused3

I am fine which ever way you want to do this. We are going away for the weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday so I will catch up when I get back.

Down by the pool, it looked like there weren't many loungers free, although only a few had occupants.

Wow, DizDaddy, Kimistry6 and JohnPA, thanks so much for the answers. You guys rock. The last cruise we were on there was a lovely group on the DisBoards, but not many people responded to questions. Thanks!

So, maybe my only complaint about the Magic was the same as JohnPA's observation above, lots of seat saving, not much seat using. I get it that seat saving keeps groups together, but personally I wish this would be monitored a bit more. Not sure how exactly that would happen, but I've been on the deck several hours and seen loungers gone unused except for a towel and a water bottle. Anyone have any strong opinions the other way?

As for the name, I know the roster is probably closed. But I thought I'd throw in anyway. Why not? As we are the eighth cruise on the Fantasy, what about:

Fantasy Eight
Fantasy VIII
F8teful Fantasy
Fantasy Great 8
Huitième sur la Mer (OK, not really :rotfl:)

I like your name choices and welcome to the group! There are two full threads devoted to our fearless fantasy group! We booked our cruise in oct of last year and started posting in November or December. You can find a link to the old site on page one. We lost some people along the way, some canceled and others have quit posting ( I tend to think it's because my husband and I kinda took over this thread). We are just so excited and have not had the time to do another vacation so this is what we got to look forward to! Enjoy the catching up!:surfweb:

Gee...it's 2:04am.... Where's Susan? On her iPad, posting on DisBoards.

Heya....part of our group (2 rooms) is backing out. My sister and her family of 7 can't swing the expense.

Our reservations are being handled by an independant travel agent that has started her own business. The rooms are not yet cancelled/refunded/released. They are
2532: cate/11c---handicap accessible/inside
2533: cate/9b ---ocean view

The doors are directly across from each other. I do not know if they can accommodate four or not.

My sister is wanting to process the cancel fairly quickly, as she is in need of her deposit money. My question to you is----do you want to try and coordinate picking up those rooms with the travel agent? I can pass on her info/she is on Facebook also. She also gives a room credit with each reservation.

Here is what I posted as an intro to the survey.....

Sooo.....we have changed polling sites.....and www.kwicksurveys.com seems to be a pretty great site. I'm assured that it is free and unlimited, so let's get this ball rolling!

I saved off the results from the prior polling site that 'gotcha'd' us with an upgrade fee and limited number of votes. We can still factor in those votes in the final tallies.

Voting is unlimited, and multiple answers per submission is the name of the game. I will leave this poll open until (tenatively) 7/31/2011, at which time the results will be collected, and we will kick off a second-stage survey of the top ten vote-getters and end with a winner. That second round of voting will be limited to one vote-----that vote will likely be submitted by Private Message----one vote per DisBoard name, because each of the poll sites can limit to one vote per submission, but do not seem to be able to limit to one submission per IP address, etc. Actually, it can be Private Message or we can just post your top 1 choice on the thread; we have nothing to hide, right?

Because we are kicking this off on a new site, I have included the new name suggestions by our new friends, 'boomerang4', that play on the fact that our cruise is the Fantasy's eighth outing.

Here we go!!!

This site was much easier than the prior.....so it didn't consume a huge amount of time to get up and running.

I'm going to ask that everyone please try to move forward with this interim fix. We all want a resolution, and I'm doing everything I can to consider everyone's opinion on this. I felt this was the best approach. I hope everyone is accepting and satisfied with this approach.

Please PM if you like, with feedback.
