I have a question for all you experienced DCL cruisers. Do most people dress up for pirate night?

Actually, I think that it was the highlight of my 20 year old son's cruise. He bought the Jack Sparrow hat with attached dreads from the gift shop. His sister darkened his unshaven face, gave him some guy-liner, and he wore a red and white striped polo.

This is the same kid that had a swordfight out in the rain in the courtyard in front of Pirates of the Caribbean with his cousin, while everyone else in the park tried to find shelter. They became the park entertainment.

On our cruise, Susan and I dressed up minimally, but still had fun with it. I doubt we will become one of the cruisers that buys a full costume, but even if it's just a skullcap and earrings, we will play along.

Soooooo do you want the bad news or the worse news?

Bad News: I've confirmed that the poll is non-functional.
Worse News: It's because we have a basic/free account with Zoomerang.
The basic account only allows 100 votes for the poll.
Upgrade to a PRO account is $199/year.

Now I like y'all a whole bunch, but $199 will go towards our vacation before it goes to Zoomerang!!!

So it looks like we have a couple of choices:

1. We can go with the results we have thus far, and submit our top ten in a new poll for final voting.....

OR

2. We can find another polling site and start the poll anew,

OR

3. We can start the same poll again, anew and let it gather another 100 votes.


Remember that end game is that we narrow down to either top ten or top five, and open a new poll that allows everyone only ONE VOTE.

Sooooo.....input?

I think you have to start a new thread as a poll or edit the first entry with a poll. I think this type of forum only lets you vote once per member, which would give everyone equal representation.

Although, I'm just as fine voting for the present top 5 if that's easier for you.

And thanks for the pirate pictures, that gives me a better idea of what to expect. We want to join in the fun of the party but don't really want to do elaborate costumes. It is vacation after all!

It's in one of the posts buried in the middle of this thread. From what I recall - the poster said it meant a party. A 'googling' of the term led to a Jamaican definition meaning 'a dance'. Either way, it's a fun time for all!

First things first - welcome newcomers!

Secondly, Tony, I'm fine with choosing from the top 10 or the top 5 at this point. This is supposed to be fun, not oodles of work, and starting over sounds like the "oodles of work" option.

As a side note, I thought I recalled that you could post a poll as part of a submission to a thread... seems to me I recall seeing "your post is being loaded (or something)... if you submitted a poll..." I know, how incredibly helpful, right? The point is, I wonder if you could just list the 10 5 or 10 as they stand now into a regular post either at the beginning of the thread or even right now in the midst of the thread. Then, you could include a link in the first post that said the poll was "here" (and link to the post in the thread with the poll). I feel like that was all gibberish, but I hope you know what I mean. Anyways, the important part of this is that I think we can just vote on the top 10 or 5 choices as they stand now. Whew!

Thanks John, I thought I read everything but I missed that. It is kind of funny I read the names with jump up and think about jumping and the names with Eastern make me think of Asia. Then I wonder what that has to do with a cruise. I am just too literal....

The problem I have with this personally is that it might not reflect the top 10 I know my votes didn't count and others didn't. I don't want to make this a lot of work for anyone but if we are trying to get a consensus it might not be representative. Not sure what a good solution is though.

I REALLY should be working instead of messing around on the DISBoards, but you know how it is when you're thinking about cruising. I just needed a little fix .

Anyway, found the post where bookite mentions "jump up". Here's a link to the post.

While skimming the old post I saw that, I believe it was Tink133 got neon green bracelets made for the Key Lime Pie-rates. I think that's a great idea. I haven't seen anything mentioned in this thread, so I thought I would bring it up. Anyone interested (once we have a name)? Here's a link to Tink133's post.

Hello all, we are just joining up. Booked in June on the Magic while in the Med. Thank you so much to all the organizers and folks who have this so thoroughly set up. Wow, I was not expecting 34 pages 9 months out. Amazing.

If anyone has any answers, I have just a few questions for the more veteran sailors:

1) on disneycruise.com it mentions that the pirate and cast off deck parties are on the Magic and the Wonder. Does this mean they are not held on the Fantasy and Dream? Not enough deck space?

2) Has anyone been on the Dream? What was your sense of how the greater numbers affected everything from getting seats for the shows to finding a lounger on the deck? Is it really different from the Magic/Wonder?

3) Any ideas why this cruise is so much more sold out than the ones before or after? It's crazy, there are already no inside or oceanview staterooms for parties of four! (we're recruiting family to join, but it's getting all booked up) Seems like it's booking up a lot faster than most...
