Fantasy 7N Western - July 6, 2013

Well, we are back from our 3 week tour of California and it is now officially time to start planning for next year's cruises :)

Glad to see more people starting to sign up for this. Still seems like a small group compared to some of our other cruises!

My daughter would love to chat with any other kids around her age (10 right now) pre-cruise as she likes going in to a trip having kids she already knows!

Jim

Is it too early to be looking at excursions? There are so many to choose from.

Anyone have suggestions?

There have been a few threads on the boards about western carib excursions that I've read but I haven't been able to decide on anything yet. I know we want to see the ruins and I think we'll do that on Costa Maya. Beyond that I'm really not sure. This is our first Western after so many Easterns!

Yeah -- I've peaked at a few of those threads, need to do more of that.

My only concern about doing that at Costa Maya is the time involved. I understand you have to drive a pretty good way from the port and we are only there for a few hours. When we were on the Dream a few weeks ago one of the CMs suggested the ruins at Cozumel were better and easier to get to.

But I really don't know. I do like the variety offered and the price doesn't seem too outrageous. But then I'm comparing it to Atlantis in Nassau which is outrageous. :)

We just got off the Magic this morning and while on board we switched our August 2013 4 day on the Dream to a 7 day on the Fantasy.

This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise. It will be me, my DH, our DD and our son who is Autistic and one of the reasons we adore Disney.

Welcome to the cruise! And Yay! Another 10 year old girl. My daughter will be happy!

Hello everyone! My husband and I just booked this sailing, so excited! This will be our second Disney cruise (our first was the "Dream" in June '11). We are also DVC members (SSR & BLT) and both "grew up Disney," both vacationing there frequently since we were little. I am also a huge Disneyland fan.

Anyway, I want the scoop on the "fishing extender" things! Is this group doing them for the 7/6/13 Fantasy sailing? I am so down!

Thanks! Nice to meet everyone!

Oh, and this is who's sailing in our 9th deck stateroom:
Jessica (34)
Daniel (32)

We have been back from Aulani for about a month and we are can't wait to cruise. We booked a couple pre-cruise nights at the Four Points Sheraton in Cocoa Beach. The girls are hoping to get some surfing in before we cast off. We also reserved two one way car rentals through Hertz for our trip to and from the port. Soon it will be time to start watching airfare. I guess I'll turn on Shark Week to take my mind off the cruise. See you all in eleven months.

I was looking at upcoming Disney movie premieres, and it looks like we should have Monsters University (release in June) and The Lone Ranger (release July 3) on the cruise.

Also potentially releasing in early 2013 is Oz: the Great and Powerful (I know someone in this movie!) and Iron Man 3 (partly filmed down the street from me!) - so there should be some great films on the ship! :cool1:

Welcome to the cruise!

I'd like to do an FE....just waiting to see if we get more people on the cruise. So far it seems awfully slow...I don't get it!

Those sound great!

We've been on three cruises - this will be our fourth -- unless we can figure out a way for DW & I to get in a quick 3 or 4 day between now & then and we've never participated in a FE. Is it more for younger kids? How time consuming/expensive it it to pull everything together?

My last cruise had a very small group too it was strange because my first cruise in 2011 the group was super active.

I reserved us one night at Jambo house before the cruise since I want to fly in the night before and it won't cost us any money for the room :)

Just over 8 months to go! I just did a quick count of the posters on the thread, and it looks like we have 39 adults and 23 children for a total of 62 DISers on board! :cool1:

Is there anyone with previous Western Caribbean cruise experience? I've been scouting excursions for this cruise - I'm thinking we might go with DCL to do the Chaccoben ruin tour in Costa Maya and the Cozumel History and Maya Ruins tour (to Sao Gervaiso) in Cozumel. The second one actually appeals to me more than the first - the idea of an hour on a bus to get there isn't terribly exciting given the short amount of time we're in port.

Amanda

so, anyone started packing yet? ;)

Jim

Thought about it -- along with trying to figure out how to get another cruise in before July :).

This will be our first 7 night cruise -- we typically overpack, I'm worried we won't have any room in the cabin.

July can't get here quick enough.

We usually overpack as well, so I've come to the conclusion that if I just plan on doing laundry so I can convince myself to pack less, then I'll probably pack just enough to get away without having to do laundry at all! :rotfl2:

The hardest part is the formal/semi-formal nights - but if you plan on re-wearing similar clothes and just changing shirts/accessories, you can still get away with packing a little less.

Hello!

We recently had to move our cruise from the 6/22 Western to this date :)
Due to hurricane Sandy, our schools were closed for 4 days, making the last day of school for us June 24th. Last year we were out by June 13th so I thought we'd be safe booking 6/22 :confused3. Anyway,we're looking forward to cruising with all of you. It seems like many of our children will be around the same age. Our DD will be 15, DS1 will be 13, and DS2 will be 11.
We are new to the seven day itinerary and these ports of call. We've been to Nassau on the last 3 cruises and we could give all sorts of input for that port. We will be looking for advice for Costa Maya and Cozumel. I already read that the ruins in Costa Maya are better? Has anyone else heard anything?

Well it looks like we have about 6 1/2 months to go! Woo hoo!

Leah

Welcome!

We are also open to ideas on the ports as well. We've only done Nassau and Castaway Cay.

Missing our two stops at CC on the five night Dream itinerary -- we've done that the last two years.

First time for us on a 7 night as well.
