Just had our second 3 night cruise on the Dream this month, and we are really wanting a longer cruise next time. We did book at placeholder while onboard. I am pricing out the 7 night Eastern on Fantasy for June 2020, and for a family of 4 (kids 8 and 11), it's just over $10K for midship verandah room on deck 7. Is this what people are paying for this type of cruise? How much lower was it when it first came out (is there some place I can check that)? The reason I am asking is because we could wait for June 2021 if the difference is more than $2K. Thank you for any insight!

Ouch. You are quite close to sailing date now so that could explain why so pricey. Also it's summer so that's a pricey time to go. We did the Eastern 7 night back in January 2017 (it was also a Star Wars day at Sea cruise) and for 2A2C in a Deluxe family verandah room we paid approx $5500 using our placeholder. I love the Eastern (we have also done Western which we paid about $5700 for with placeholder in Oct 2018 in a similar room) but no way would I pay $10K for that route. You can search for opening day prices here and see if there is a quote for your cruise. June 2021 cruises should be released in just a few weeks.

We booked the same itinerary for March 2020 (TX Spring break). They released an early VGT rate that put the total for 2a2c just over $6k. Too good to pass up!

According to the opening day thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/o...mmer-2020-magic-wonder-dream-fantasy.3737043/ , not many if the Eastern Caribbean sailing had quotes, but I found this one.

June 13th, 2020 7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral [Tortola, St. Thomas, Castaway Cay]
G 7A 3A1K (16) $9703 [2856/2856/1785/1785] no ins/trans/air/OBB

Cruise watch also shows the rates steady since opening day.

According to the https://www.disboards.com/threads/current-gt-mto-flr-discounts.3244232/page-182#post-60620628 thread, a few of the Fantasy 2019 summer sailings went on *GT rates, but not many. His availability sheet also shows almost 200 veranda cabins still open on the July 2020 E. Carib sailings. It is probably worth waiting to see if discounts become available, if you are flexible on dates and ok waiting until next year if nothing comes up.

Otherwise, I would go ahead and book for 2020. The rate increase for opening day 2021 is likely to be more than the current rates for this year.

We spent a little over 8k for a 7 nite Eastern Caribbean for April, but got 2 rooms for 2 adults/3 kids. That was huge hit but we've never done a school vacation trip ever and we've had a heck of a year, so we deserve it!

We are paying $9000 for 2 4E verandah cabins on the fantasy in mid May 2020. 2 adults per cabin. Booked 13 months out while on the magic.

I wonder if you are looking at the family size (larger) staterooms, since there are a lot of them midship deck 7. We have a family of 5 so can only book that category and it is more expensive than the standard verandah.

Regardless, in my experience, summer is about 1.5 times the cost of the rest of the year. We were lucky to avoid it in prior years but now are kids are older and we can’t pull them out of school any more due to school policy, so we are cruising this summer and it is brutal. We are paying over 7K for a four night.

The midship verandahs on Fantasy have been getting priced at a noticeable premium for over a year. The aft vibration problems means those who know of the issue won't book the afts at all, so in a way the ship's capacity has been reduced by a third. And the eastern itineraries compound it in the winter.

$10K is exactly what we are paying for two midship insides on the western itinerary over the Easter week. And that's after the OBB discount.

I strongly doubt that you are going to get a price that's anywhere near $2,000 less for next summer. The Bahamian and Caribbean cruises don't have the high percent of price increases over time as the more unique itineraries like Alaska, Europe, etc. But if you want to check the historical fare for this psrticular cruise, go to Touring Plans Fare Tracker, or CruiseFish. The numbers will be there. Midship family verandah on the Fantasy for a party of 4 when school is out is going to be expensive, so I'm not at all surprised by that price.

If you think June is expensive, look at the prices for New Year's criuses. We paid about $9,000 for a Fantasy Eastern New Year's cruise for a party of 2 in an oceanview stateroom.
