FANTASMIC! Worth the price for reserved seating??

WOW!! I am now SUPER torn on what to do :confused3

You guys are awesome.... I appreciate the opinions :thumbsup2

Not sure what to do yet......

:thumbsup2 :worship: Thanks! I was under the impression it was a dessert buffet thing and didn't realize it was lap eating in a plastic bin though not sure what I thought it was. I guess I was thinking little dessert plates that you could replenish with stuff like chocolate covered strawberries and little fruit tarts, maybe some hot cocoa, coffee, juices, waters......the fruit and cheese look pretty good.

Any photos of the seating area itself? :goodvibes

It used to be that way when it was on the balcony of what is now the Dream Suite.

We have always enjoyed it and thought it was worth it, especially if you are there during a busy time. We treated my mom to a trip with our family this past December. It was well worth the money to do the F! dessert seating as well as the tour for the parade seating. While it was crowded, we never had to worry about finding seating for the things we really wanted to see.

Perhaps I'm in the minority because I'm a poor college student, but even with my family, we've never seen how this is worth it. It's a 20 min show and a box of desserts for the price of almost a day's admission. I guess the other thing is that we always watch the 10:30 show, not the 9, so we never wait for more than 30-40 min. It's one of the things at DLR that I legitimately don't understand. :confused3
We've been doing the seating for about the last 10 years. My kids never liked to take the time to sit and see the show. My daughter HATES the crowds. But after doing the reserved seating, my kids LOVED the show. When I would ask where they wanted to stay (resort hotel or off site), their response was unanimous, where ever we could afford Fantasmic! seating.

Like I said, WELL worth it.

As for as "It's a 20 min show and a box of desserts for the price of almost a day's admission.", there is more to it than that. The staff (they are the VIP of guest relations, Special events Staff) are FANTASTIC! They make you feel like you are special. I can go on and on, but honestly, until you have done it, you won't be able to understand.

The buffet went away when the fire marshal deemed the area too small for people to be up walking back and forth.

You do get water, soda, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea, and it is replenished as you need, including bringing some after the show for you to take with you.

For us it is one of our treats we do every year. To old to sit on the ground anymore. It is planned into the budget. I wish everyone had the opportunity to see from the reserved seats.

That's great!

That's how I feel, I'm too old to sit on the ground for hours.

I hope it will be awesome! I just bought my tickets to the 9pm show on oct 18th, it will be our first time ever seeing F! and think the dessert seating will be a very nice way to start our trip! I'll take all kinds of pics and post them when I return!:thumbsup2

I have never heard that this was the reason for this being changed. Curious where you heard it? Thanks!

Anyone know if they're able to provide gluten-free dessert boxes? While they look delicious, I'd only be able to eat the grapes and cheese. :guilty:
I know that Disney is known for being accommodating, but I wouldn't even know where to start in terms of who to call. I'm going by myself in early December, and I think that I'd love to do this.

I can totally understand your lack of ability to understand! That was me for many years. We always did second show seated section.

I was feeling rich last year when we did it. One thing I do remember was how much more everyone in my family enjoyed the early show from reserved seating than when we sit on the ground for the late show. My DS16 commented afterwards how that was the first time he really understood what Fantasmic was about after about five previous viewings.

So now I can see how it is worth it for those who feel like they have discretionary cash. I would never trade an extra day at the parks for a Fantasmic! reserved seat. But for those who feel like the have the money I see the value now. :)

I 100% agree with DLR29 here. I think that it is way too expensive for what you get. F! is by far my MOST FAVORITE show at DLR and my trips are not complete without watching it. I have watched it from many different spots around ROA, including the reserved seating. After the seating, I guess that I can see how someone with some discretionary cash (as HydroGuy put it) would be willing to pay for the seating, but for us, it is totally not worth it, IMHO.

My kids won't touch anything in that dessert tray. And honestly, even at ages 5 and 6, they are too squirmy to sit in the folding chairs for 30-45 minutes without getting up, wiggling, or wanting to sit in my lap. They do fine in their strollers most of the time, and can wiggle more freely without me worrying they will tip the chair backwards, kick someone else's seat or pinch their fingers in the folding chair.

We always try to see the second showing and have NEVER had a problem finding decent seats, and we've been during slow seasons (mid-January, pre-spring break March) and VERY busy seasons (Columbus Day weekend, opening of WOC weekend, multiple spring breaks).

Special Events manager and the fire marshal that sits with the producer of Fantasmic! during the show. We always loved the buffet at the riverside seating (started doing it back in 2001.) Due to the number of times we would do it, we got to be pretty good friends with several of the crew and leads, and my son even sat with the fire marshal several times (he was wanting to be a fireman when he was young, now he is a firefighter in training...) We learned a lot about what the fire marshal does around the park.

Call the 4400 number and explain the situation. But, to the best of my knowledge, they do not offer a diabetic or gluten free option.

We've taken my nieces and nephews from the time they were 4, and all have loved everything in the tray, from the grapes, to cheeses, to the shortbread cookie (which usually gets acquired by their older cousin (my daughter)), and the mini cheesecake.

We took my nieces (7, 7, and 4) and they had a blast. They didn't finish everything in the box, but we took it back to the hotel for later. I can understand it is expensive, but for us, it is well worth it.

I use to think the exact same thing. But last year, we had the opportunity to try it with the extended family. We were a party of 8 so when we picked our seats, they suggested we take the 2 back rows for my two little ones. At first I thought, really? But it was genius! The girls had the ability to get up and goof off and I really didn't have to worry. Our CM was amazing, catered to the girls' every want and need (and the adults too). The desserts were insanely huge, but we just brought them back to the rooms and had treats for later in the trip. I'm so glad we did it. Will we do it again, probably not for a very long time. But for that moment, it was worth every penny and an incredible experience!
