How is seating without the dining package?

If we do select the package - which restaurant would you choose and why?

We do have deluxe dining, so we could try any of the three.

We've been to Fantasmic several times over the years but never via the dining package. They only offer dining package seating for the 1st performance of the evening, and that would take away from valuable ride time.

This year we went to Fantasmic on June 1. There were two showings and we attended the 2nd performance.

The crowd for the early show started to gather about an hour before show time. This was the perfect time to ride the headliners over and over for a couple of hours as the lines got really short. I believe that we rode Midway Mania & RnR twice and Tower 3 times during that time.

Once the park closed, we strolled into the ampitheater about 10 minutes before showtime and found nice seats in the best standby section. If you were at a football game, this would be the equivalent of about the 40 yard line. The theater was less than half full for the performance.

When I go in Oct, there is only one show. I could have done fantasmic dinner package but wanted to use the table service at Hollywood and vine for breakfast. My plan is to get in line an hour before and then go grab concession food for dinner.I've been a few times and this has worked fine.

i would absolutely do it if you have the deluxe. Look at the menu and choose what you like. We had Mama Melrose last summer, and LOVED it. I have tried to book the F! package for our visit this Christmas, but only the MM is open again. No problem. We liked it.

We visited in May, and we did the later show - on the side. Definitely a different experience. Was worth a re-bo-booking of the package.

We have done it both ways.

Without the package. - We went to the second showing. The crowd was massive. Not surprising it was HOT and humid. Everyone was on top of each other. Just when you think it can't get any worse, they open the gate and it is like the running of the bulls. Small children and small moving folks were not safe. Absolutely nuts.
With the package. - We loved the casual stroll (vs. running for your life) to the seats. We thought the seat locations were great. We had dinner at Mama Melrose and thought the food was terrible. The wait was one of the few places that went waaaay after our ADR time (like an hour).

My suggestion to you - Do the package and eat at the Brown Derby. :)
