How does the Preferred seating for the Fantasimic Show work? Is it a lot more expensive than the meal would cost? Can you roam around the park while you wait to go in to sit or do you go straight from dinner into the show??

Help!!!!

Whether you can roam the park prior to going to Fantasmic depends on what time you have dinner reservations. When we went we finished dinner about 45 minutes before the show started so we headed straight to Fantasmic as the preferred seating was only saved until 30 minutes or so before the show started (I may be wrong on the 30 minutes it may even be longer than that). Anway, if you ate dinner early you would have time to see a bit of the park before the show. but that will depend largely on what time you have dinner, and what time the show is you're going to. When you make the reservation they will tell you what time to be at the preferred seating entrance.

we just did this- basically the "preferred seating" is more- preferred entry- you go through a different entrance near the front of the park- to get to the seating- the seating is off to the right in the stands.

When we got there the CM who was making sure it remained "preferred" told all of us that if we wanted better seats to move to a different section of the stands- he suggested between the two Mickey Mouse Signs- we sat in the section to the right of that near the bottom instead- still in the center of the stage-

the seats do fill in pretty fast- so if you don't want to sit in the "preferred" seating to the right- of the stage- then go earlier after your dinner- especially if you have lots of people with you- really there are no bad seats (there is a pole to the right and left of center that might get in the way for one of the sections -not the preferred section though)

But like PP said- if you have early reservations then enjoy the park some more before heading over that way- we went about 45minutes ahead of time and took our seats- because we had done most of what we wanted in the park and just wanted to sit.

I tell you though Disney must have something with mother nature though=
The night we saw it -it had sprinkled right before the show and the clouds were still overhead- and one was shaped just like a three demensional Mickey Mouse- it was the coolest thing- lol- and it was lit up by a full moon too.

Enjoy the show- I loved it.

If you go at a slow time of year, you dont even need the Fantasmic Package. We actually did the package for Thanksgiving 2004, and found we didnt "need" it either. We ate at Hollywood & Vine, and it was the only restaurant where the regular price and the Fantasmic price were the same. We got there 3040 minutes early, and the preferred space was empty. The entire place was maybe 2/3 full. We would have gotten a seat with out the package, and possibly gotten betters seats more towards the middle. We havent done the package other than that, and have never had any trouble getting a good seat at any trip we took in January. Thats going up no earlier than 30-40 minutes before it starts.

We don't do the package either...we get to the theatre 45 minutes before to get front/center seats. Waiting for the show to start is fun for us.

I would say that it depends on when you go. We have done it with and without the package. In the beginning of November we did not get the package and we ended up having to stand in the back because it was so full - who would have thought - we have purchase the Hollywood and Vine package and it is not any additional money.. this April we are trying Mama Melrose - again - no price difference that I know of.

We've done both no package and package deal. The times we have done the package, I was SO glad we did!!! Last May the theater was PACKED TO THE GILLS for some reason and we were able to walk in right before the show and take our seats--which were very good. I think I like doing the package also because we know we are going to go to a sit-down place for dinner anyway and that's just a "bonus" that we get preferred seating for Fantasmic! I think Hollywood and Vine is a wonderful place to eat. We're doing it again this trip!

I'm not a fan of the Fantasmic! Dinner Package because of the terrible seats
