Fantasmic pkg

Ds wants the Fantasmic pkg for our next upcoming trip. We love Brown Derby, however, Ds will be 11 and only wants the childrens menu, he still has not acquired a taste for adult food or portions. This is never a problem when we just make a regular ressie. Now to my question...
Phoned dining, the cm said there was no price for HBD it is a la carte you only pay for what you order. Does this seem right?:confused3 Has anyone had any experience (out of pocket, no dining plan). The cm did not know whether you needed to order app. entree and dessert.

Thank you
Belle

I just phoned into Disney Dining again, got my answer. For the Fantasmic Pkg it is 50.05 for adults (Ds must pay as an Adult, this is what I expected) and 12.77 for children 3-9. It is a la carte.

I feel your pain, our DS is picky too. We ususally do H&V for a fantasmic package if paying OOP, it is least expensive and with it being a buffet even our picky eater finds something he likes. He can choose from adult or kids offerings + desserts since the buffet is all one price for age 10 & up.

personally I would not book BD for a 10yr picky eater if all they want to eat is off the kids menu, you're still going to pay as if an adult meal - JMO.

Thanks for your respond. I think your right, that Hollywood and Vine would be the best option here. We've gone to both HBD and MM up to age 9. This past trip we did not do a pkg and realized we much prefer the Fantasmic Pkg.

Thanks again
Belle

I read more reviews disliking H&V than it seems than those that do. But DS usually wants us to go there since he knows we can get a fantasmic pass & we LOVE that show.

I really like the bottomless iced tea they serve, there's always salads & vegetables to choose from, at least 2-3 meat choices, bread & dessert, including make your own ice cream/sundaes. And the kids area ususally always has the usual chicken tenders, mac'n'cheese & there may have even been pizza once but I'm not 100% sure. Plus usually mashed potatoes on the buffet which most kids like too.

Although he's still picky he now has the appetite of a young teen so going to H&V & forking out the money for one of those fantamic packages at adult prices for him at least I know he left the place with his hunger satisfied. I don't think it's the greatest place to eat but it's certainly not the worst and with the fantamic seating & good weather we enjoy the tradition.

But one of these days, by golly I will get to go to BD & eat with the rest of the grown ups who have cooperative children that eat grown up food :rotfl2:

Just not this year, or probably next

I have done H&V four times now.... and once with the F! Dining package...

I actually am one of those rare people who were very satisfied with the H&V dinner because our past trips have included the Whole family... which includes picky kids/teens and "sometimes" vegetarian preferences...

SO... I do recommend H&V and can elaborate on that later.

THat being said... Last Wednesday.... I was on Graduation Celebration with just DS18...so had HBD F! dining package.

It was $49 per person (both adults 10+...ME/F45 and DS18) and we each received appetizers, entree's, and dessert. Plus the F! Special entrance pass which (IMHO) made it worth everything...

I wanted to like HBD better than I actually did...however I do not regret going...and may go back to try the Imagineer lunch...

DS LOVED his dessert... After trying the Imagineer lunch... I will try MM....I DO LOVE THE F! Dining package....I am NOT on vacation to stand in line for 2 hours !

Hugs,
Mary

Oh my gosh, thanks for posting your photo's. We have decided to go with H&V for Fantasmic and dine at HBD another day during our stay. Thank you so much for your description of the buffet, DS is sure he can find something he'll be happy with.
