Fantasmic is listed on wdw's calendar 1 day the week we are there in Jan. I was thinking of booking the pkg but not sure if it is nesscary. Imay just do it anyway and have one more thing paid for.

How is this restaurant with the pkg?

We haven't been to Mama Melrose yet, but I've read many reviews by others who've been there for the FDP and loved it. Hopefully some of those people will post with more details, but I think it would be a great choice for your FDP. We did H&V for our package and had a very good experience there, but there are quite a few negative reviews for H&V here on the boards, many more than there are for Mama Melrose. All restaurants have good and bad reviews, but it appears that Mama Melrose is good pretty consistently.

In your post you mention booking the package and having one more thing paid for. I booked the Fantasmic dinner package in December and to the best of my knowledge, my credit card has not been charged yet. I thought you had to put it down to secure the reservation, but you're not billed until you actually eat there. Anyone know for sure?

No, you aren't charged until you dine. They hold the credit card number in case you don't show up. In that case, they will charge your card $10 for every person in your reservation.

We did the Mama Melrose/Fantasmic package in the past and found the food very good! They will take your credit card info, but you will not be billed until you actually have dinner..:sunny:

We liked Mama Melrose when we had lunch there one day.

You can book any of the MGM restaurants with the package. We thought the package was a great deal, since you have the reserved seating. We did not have to line up hours before the show, and keep the kids entertained, sitting in their seats.

Since you only have the night for the show, I would recommend doing the package. The only negative is if the show gets cancelled due to weather. You are still stuck with eating at the restaurant you chose.

For the package, they will not actually charge you until you have eaten. Since the whole menu is available to you, they don't know what you have spent, until you have dined.

For our package we did Hollywood and Vine - the buffet. But still based on the drinks we ordered, the bill was not a fixed price.

Actually the only restaurants currently participating in the FDP are Mama Melrose, Hollywood & Vine & the Brown Derby. I believe in the past a couple other MGM restuarants have offered the package, but for some time now, only the restaurants mentioned above offer the package.

We have eaten at MM once on each of our last 8 trips and always have an enjoyable meal there. If Fantasmic is only being shown 1 night the week you are there, I would definitely book the package. :D

We did the Fantasmic package and dined at Mam Melrose. We enjoyed it so much we are going back on our upcoming trip. I thought the food was very good and there was TOO much of it!

We also did the Fantasmic Package with MM and it was much better than we expected. The food really was excellent and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I agree, there was tons of food. We intend to visit again even without the package.

For years we avoided the sit-downs at MGM.

One year we were there with another family, he being Italian and an excellent cook, and decided to try Mama Melrose.

We loved it and he enjoyed his meal as well. They were great with our small tribe of kids.

Would go back there in a heartbeat !
