First-time poster here - so glad to have found this forum!

How important is it to do the Fantasmic dinner package? We did this when we visited in 2009, and we ate at Hollywood & Vine. Did not like the food at all, but loved the seating for the show!

Considering it again for trip in Jan12, but would rather eat at 50s PTC (not one of the choices on the package). I've never eaten at Mama Melrose, and I won't use 2 full-service meals for the Derby.

So, does anyone have thoughts? Thanks so much!

Mama Melrose is decent italian. We enjoy it and have been there several times. I agree with you on H&V - we thought it was terrible.

In 2009 F! was only showing twice a week, so IMO, a dining package was well worth it to eliminate the long wait and stress of trying to get in. Even though you had to eat dinner so early....I didn't like that part.

Currently, F! is back to every night, at least through the summer. So that makes it a lot easier to see and you may not need a dining package.

If you are willing to live on the egde a little and hope that F! is still showing every night, then I would book 50sPT. And even if it isn't every night, chacnces are that in Jan you can still get decent seats by showing up 45 mins early.

Then again, if F! is highly important and you just want to know you are guaranteed seats...go with MM package.

Thanks for responding! It would be perfect if they did the show every night. I'm wondering if they will in Jan, though. Glad to hear MM is a good option! Thanks again!

If you want to see Fantasmic and not deal with and insane wait time I would highly recommend it. We did it Just this past June 2nd (sigh, I miss WDW). It was our first time eating at MM we had a 3:45 reservation. The wait was a little crazy but you're going in January when the parks aren't as crowded.

The food was good. I was a little hesitant as we have a lot of good Italian Joints in my area. So I got the steak on someone's recommendation, it was delicious. My son is Gluten Free and they were great with that. Everyone enjoyed their meals. And getting right into Fantasmic without waiting was absolutely wonderful. Yes, we had about 45 minutes before the show, but we were seated the whole time.

This is the sight when we arrived one hour early with our F! package tickets. Since we were there at the beginning of June and it was BUSY :scared1: they were more than worth it for us because we probably would not have gone otherwise. We hadn't seen the show in 10 years.

Plus the appetizer, entree, dessert and drink are all included and we had a decent meal. :)

F! is showing every night through the end of September currently. September is about as slow as January so there could be a chance! Keep your eyes peeled :thumbsup2
