Is the fantasmic package necessary in January?

I am not a fan of the restaurants offered, but have ALWAYS wanted to go to 50's Prime Time. Should I chance it?

We are going in January as well and will not be doing the dinner package. You should be fine if you just arrive a little early for the show.

Honestly, we have never done the fantasmic dinner package at Disney and have always gotten in to see Fantasmic. We've also always had great seats and not stood in line for hours. It is my middle DS's favorite show! Maybe we've been lucky or travel during off times (usually April/May) but I wouldn't wait in line for 2 hours to see a show.

I just tried to book a Fantasmic Dinner package for Jan 21st and they are sold out at all the restaurants!:sad1:

Have you been since they changed to twice a week? I was going to go last year, but it just seemed too uncertain so we skipped it. I have a package for this year, but I'm not that excited about Mama Melrose and I'm thinking of scheduling something different for that night.....

Plus, I keep reading threads where people say Fantasmic is not that great. We're actually not that big on the "nighttime spectaculars" in general. (Blasphemy, I know.)

My DPIC and I really wants to see it. We've got a package booked for the 14th at Hollywood & Vine. I really wanted Mama Melrose but it was a no go due to availability.

I presonally would rather cancel the package but I really don't want to stand in the line.

We have been in January last year when it was down to 2 shows. The place is packed ! We had an early ressies at 50's PT and told our server we were planning on Fantasmic, we ate in reasonable time and he said we'd be fine, but to head straight over. We did and it was packed, no seating, luckily we got there just as they opened the gate for the standing room only area and we got the front row of standing room only ! This was approximately 30 minutes by the time we had walked there. Walking there was half the battle as the crowds were so bad!

The next showing of Fantasmic during our trip we avoided DHS altogether, the park was packed, be prepared, we thought Jan was slow as well.

My tip ( from someone else ;)) Book a late lunch and dinner if you can. We are battleing DHS on a F! day, we have a later lunch and then a much later dinner after the show! I was worried as I thought DD would be tired, but when we're in WDW she stays up later than normal and I am hoping we'll be ok! It's one late dinner - and we plan on using our deluxe snacks for treats in between !

Have a great trip!

We went in September lined up 60 minutes prior and just made a seat in the last row. I was able to get the package for our trip in January (the 21st) at the Brown Derby.

Went in August and got the dinner package at the Brown Derby, and did not think it was worth it at all. Even with a dinner package they require you show up an hour prior to the show. I though the reserved seats would be right in the middle, but they were way off to the side. There were still lots of much better seats avalible to the general public than what we go through our package when we sat.
