Fantasmic or WOC - Help Me Pick Only One??

I vote for Fantasmic...Seeing the fire, and smoke, and peter pan fighting hook on a pirate ship, and then a giant dragon right in front of you while sitting in a chair with a great view and a tray of desert would be awesome for 6 and 8 yr old boys! you can watch world of color on youtube, and decide if you really want to see it in person, if it is really worth the long wait, and the chance you might end up with some tall person standing in front of you....

I'd go with Fantasmic as well. I agree with farmgirljen. I have 2 boys and I'd way rather spend my money on a guaranteed great view, being able to sit after a long day in the park, yummy dessert box, and less time waiting in line for my seat and planning only to have my view ruined because my kids aren't tall enough or someone puts their kid on their shoulder. I'd especially do it if one of my boys was looking forward to it. WOC has so many unknowns to me. I haven't seen it but the "chaos factor" alone is enough to steer my decision to Fantasmic!

Yes, Disneyland's version of Fantasmic! is superior to WDW's, but like you said, there is nothing comparable to WOC at WDW.

I agree with this. Personally I think you'd be able to see both. But since you've seen it in WDW, and if you were only able to choose one, I'd say World of Color. Fantasmic is a better show, and yes DL's is better than WDW's, but it's worth seeing something you wouldn't see in WDW.

Personally I don't care for woc so I'd choose fantasmic.

I agree. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it. It feels like I'm watching a "mash-up," whereas Fantasmic has an actual story.

I just wanted to follow up and make sure the lightning missed you after you typed that. ;)

I also agree that the OP will be surprised how well the kids will do with an early start and a midday nap. They will want to see both.

I agree with 3Minnies1Mickey!

I do not care for WOC at all. I've seen it from prime viewing, I've seen it from my VGC balcony...nothing helps. Just DO.NOT.LIKE.

Fantasmic on the other hand is WONDERFUL at DL and still pretty darned good at WDW.

I would choose the dessert seating for Fantasmic if it were up to me. :thumbsup2

Definitely F!. The first time we saw WOC we were not able to get a descent spot and my 6, 8, and 9 year olds HATED it. Next time we saw it, we had the most awesome spot imaginable. My twenty-something year olds kids LOVED it. They would have stayed and watched it all night. The little ones thought it was good, but still could have lived without it.

You have a much better chance of insuring a good spot at F!. And I think you’re boys will probably like F! more. (If it was just the adults, I’d say definitely WOC)

Please please please make time to do both!! F! at DL is different from F! at WDW, the dragon at DL is so cool (especially when she breathes fire) and seeing Peter Pan fly around the ship is pretty amazing!! :) F! has long been my favorite show.....that said.....

This last trip DL had a delayed opening due to a suspicious package outside in the esplanade, as a result of the delay in letting many people in the parks stayed open 1 hour later AND they added a 3rd WoC and a 3rd F! We decided to do WoC when we noticed there were only about 50 people in the line and we wouldn't need a FP to view! We lined up about 10 minutes before the show and when they let us in we beelined it down to the "wet zone" area, we were ON the railing.....and OMG.......I've seen WoC before, this was not a new show for me but seeing it from the front was amazing!!!! It seriously blew my mind, it was the most amazing, magical, beautiful thing I've ever seen! It brought me to tears.....

Of course now I feel I can never see it again unless I'm that close, I think I will be terribly disappointed, but you never know. :) So, honestly, my suggestion would be see WoC, get there as early as you can and get a great spot and enjoy!!!!

LOL--could the tears have been the mist off the water blowing on you in the wet zone?

Personally, I don't care for either show. (Yes, let the lightening hit me dead on.) But if I was going to do either my choice would be Fantasmic with the dessert seating. Much saner experience.

OK, this thread seems to have veered from the OP's question.

The OP did not ask whether it was preferable to see WOC or F! The OP asked that having seen F! at WDW and only being able to see one or the other at DLR, which is a better choice. Most responders in this thread who addressed that question chose WOC - most for the simple reason that F! at DL and WDW are similar and there is nothing like WOC at WDW.

Nope, not at all. The wind was blowing the mist the opposite direction, we hardly got wet at all. :)

OP I apologize if my reply wasn't clear, while I do think it important to see both shows if you can only see 1 see WoC! :) Also, if you end up back in DL towards the end of F!, towards the part with the dragon, you can always stop and watch that part and not the whole show. :)

We are doing F! because of the dessert seating. The cluster that is F! at DHS is insantiy that we won't try again in a hurry, I prefer F! at DL and having DS10 (ASD) and DD6 means we can enjoy relaxing and not standing in line for at least one hour just to get a spot that may or may not be good. We love sitting, relaxing, snacking and watching an awesome show. SITTING after a loooong day (napping rarely happens but resting is good at the hotel) is preferable, less whining and a special treat too. You CAN see fireworks, just not the castle and admittedly the kids will be happy to see them at all anyway regardless of the view, while still sitting with their dessert boxes and a last refill after watching F! WOC I plan on checking out from the Grand Californian, my son could not compete with regular folks for a spot with knowledge he'd have to stand after waiting so long (and good luck blocking others views and holding a ten year old on your shoulders for twenty minutes). WOC IS amazing but they sure don't make it easy to see it (I hate waiting for F! at DHS too but at least you get to SIT and see it).

I addressed the question as a choice within those parameters and still chose Fantasmic! Please don't speak for other posters or attempt to impose your viewpoint as the only possible answer. Thanks. :goodvibes

if i had to choose just one it would be fantasmic, but i would really try to do both as for fireworks theres always the 4th of july for that;)
