Actually my son will be a few weeks shy of turning 3 when we visit in Sept. I have read conflicting reports about the fright factor of the Fantasmic show for preschoolers. We were considering making a ressie for the Fantasmic Dinner Show, but now I am thinking we may want to skip this altogether. I realize each child is different, but am interested in hearing others experiences. Thanks :sunny:

The scariness for my DD was the darkness, the loudness, the fireworks/fire, the villians. She also didn't like getting a bit wet too.

But it's also an amazing show and many children have no problem with it.

My DD slept through it at age 1, cried through it with her ears covered at age 2 and enjoyed it at age 3 and especially at age 4.

My other DD enjoyed all the times she saw it...ages 2, 4,5,6.

I'd give it a try if I were you.

My DS is 2 almost 3 and absolutely loved it. I mean he flinched a bit with the dragon, and the fire, but for the most part he was really ok with it, and he loved it when all the characters came by on the boat!!

My kids have loved it each time we've seen Fantasmic!!! My dd was 18 months when she first went, and was 3 for this visit, and wasn't scared at all. We had talked with her about how it m ight be scary at parts, but that it was all make believe. My 5-month-old slept through it.

It really depends on the child.....

My DD2 covered her eyes when the "bad guys" were on, but other than that she seemed to do well. She loved watching Mickey and the Princesses on the boats.

She even waited patiently for over an hour for it to start.

I had the concerns about it being scarey and dark when my son saw it for the first time this past October. Now that we are planning a trip for this May, he has mentioned that he wants to see the show with the dragon. At first I didn't know what he meant, however when he pointed it out on the website, I knew he was referring to Fantasmic. And here I didn't think it had made much of an impression on him:)!

I've never experienced Fantasmic with a small child so I can't offer advice about this. You might want to ask this question on our Disney for Families Board, too. I'll bet you would get some excellent advice there.

Thanks for the advice... I think we may give it a try and see what happens  I hear such great things about it that I would hate to miss it. Thanks again!:sunny:

I have 3 boys and they have all been. It is our entire family's favorite show. My kids hate the 3D shows, don't really like the noisy ones so we thought for sure that Fantasmic would be over the top. We were so wrong. At the ages of 2 and 4 they teased until we brought them back a second night to see it again. If your child is afraid of the dark give her a small flashlight or glow stick, if she hates loud noises pack ear plugs and she can always close her eyes. My kids carry a small flashlight and earplugs in their belly bags so they always feel like they're in control.

We have just been to Disney; Epcot; and MGM the end of February with our almost 3 year old daughter. Fantasmic did scare her a little bit, but we just held her next to us or in our laps and kept reminding her that it was all make believe. We sat about half way up from the water. I'm glad we made it through it, because she loved all of the princesses and the boats coming through in the end.

The worst part is getting in and out of there. It took us about 20 minutes to get out of there after the show was over. That was the miserable part with a toddler.

We saw Fantasmic for the first time when my DD was 4 and she was absolutly fine - we even bought the CD so she could listen to the music from the show in the car.

I know your child is a year younger but I know that when my DD was 3 she would have been fine also. We just didn't go because I didn't want to stay at MGM to late.

Keep in mind the show is across a small lagoon, so there is some distance between you and the show. I would say you should stay away if your child as a rule does not like fireworks and/or loud noises, but if they are always fine then go for it.

The show is absolutly Disney magic and I wish I could see it when we go in Sept, but we are going with DD#2 who will be 13 months old and the thought of waiting and hour on bleachers with her for the show to start is enough to scare me.

Have fun, use your best judgement, and if you feel you shouldn't go then go back to MK or EPCOT and watch the fireworks over there. We all know as parents that if our child is unhappy then we are absolutly miserable - Have fun!!!

I dont think its a good idea. It might be a little too much. If she is on the brave side, then go for it. But if she is like how i was, dont go! Hope this helps!::MickeyMo
