We have a reservation at the Brown Derby for dinner, and I have seen 2 different explinations on this package. Do we have to book the "Dinner Package" or just request the voucher for Fantasmic after we have paid for our dinner (which is how Disney's website discribes this)

Has anyone out there done this "package" or have any information on this?

You have to book the "Dinner Package", and it is a separate reservation from simply booking the restaurant. There are a limited number of "packages" available (I just got off the phone with them) during a very short window of time. When you do book the package, at check in, it is a bit of a different process, and they do give you a special receipt or voucher after paying for your dinner that entitles you to sit in the reserved Fantasmic Package section. We have done this before, and it is nice. I just tried to book it, but I waited too long. The call taker said it always sells out at the 90 day mark. That said, the restaurant is phenomenal, and is well worth eating there.

We just returned and it was good. When booking at 180 days out (Disney just changed it from 90-180 day booking) you request the fantasmic dinner package. When you are dining, your waiter/waitress confirms you are on the Fantasmic dining package and gives you a yellow paper you must turn in at the entrance to the show. We just enjoyed the Brown Derby and your package includes an appetizer, entree and dessert!!! Wooo Hooo We thought it only included entree and dessert!!! Enjoy!:thumbsup2

The booking window is still 90 days. The change to 180 days goes into effect on 10-27, I believe.

Regardless, it seems as though the OP is already within their booking window since they have a reservation at Brown Derby already.

Since Fantasmic has been relegated to select nights, the package has become harder and harder to get.

You do have to book the package. A reservation at BD will not entitle you to any Fantasmic privileges.

Glad to read this. I didn't know anything about the Fantasmic Package until a rep offered to to me when I was trying to make another reservation. It was only 30 days before our arrival. She highly suggested it and stated she's amazed it even came up. She thought perhaps someone had just canceled it and I happened to call at that time. When I told a friend about it that's been to Disney before, she said she didn't understand what the big deal was because there's plenty of seating to see it. I told her it allowed you early admission and she still thought it was unnecessary, I almost cancelled it. Everytime I'd call back to try to get the original ressie I was seeking, I'd mention canceling it to the rep and each one suggested to NOT cancel. We leave in 10 days and are doing this on the 17th.....here's to hoping it will be great. Our restaurant is the Hollywood & Vine though, hope it's equally wonderful!;)

Thanks everyone! I did call for the package and of course no availability. The upside is 1) it is the firsy day of F&W 2)MNSSHP is that night 3)EMH after hours at AK, these 3 factors will hopefully keep the crowds at HS to a low.
