Fancy toiletries at the Grand Floridian?

I saw a TV program that showed beautiful toiletries for guests at the Grand Floridian resort (full-sized old-fashioned bottles of grapefruit shampoo, etc.). Can anyone who's stayed there tell me more about them? Do guests in all rooms get these toiletries or are they just for suites or concierge floor rooms?

I've stayed in GF regular guest rooms and concierge rooms, and never had full sized bottles of toiletries. None of the GF rooms give the standard red and black Mickey toiletries. You get Lord and Mayfair, very nice, but not a deal breaker. Generally you'll get soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, a vanity kit with q-tips and an emery board, shower cap, maybe something else, I can't recall for sure. In the concierge rooms you also get some extras, including a jar of hand cream, and a tin with a small sewing kit (even a thimble!), and a couple other items. The bath bars are a bit larger than the Mickey ones are, btw.

The signature grapefruit scent is in the GF spa. It's actually called "Ruby Red Graprefruit, and is very nice, but not the best hand lotion if you have dry skin. The Jurlique Lavender hand cream they sell at the Spa is the nicest hand cream I've EVER used. In the ladies dressing room at the spa there are full sized bottles of the hand cream, and dispensers with soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Those full size bottles shown were in the Victorian Suite. If you are staying in a suite like that, yes, you would get the big bottles. Otherwise, you'll get the ones ducklite described.

I've stayed at GF twice and we never had full size bottles, so I think that was concierge. They did have nicer stuff than the other hotels, but they were the small bottles. They had some nice hand cream and also a little metal sewing box.

Yeah -- that TV show only reviews the nicest rooms in the nicest hotels. You were seeing some of the nicest suites at the GF. The ones that cost over a thousand a night. For that, they should make the soap in your room!

I have stayed in two different two-bedroom suites at the GF to the tune of more money per night than the previous poster stated. I have never seen full-size toiletries in either of those suites. And as an aside, I stayed in the largest suite at the YC (the Captains Deck Suite). That suite gave me the standard Mickey Mouse toiletries, which I found amusing because that was the most expensive suite that I have stayed in at WDW, and yet it had the standard Mickey Mouse toiletries that I get in any of the other WDW or DVC rooms. Too funny!

ACK!!! No Way!!

I do make handcrafted soap, and it is a VERY messy process. I definitely wouldn't want anyone making it in my suite :)

Gawd....simply unbelieveable that the folks who stay at the Budget WDW resorts get the same toiletries as the grandest suite at WDW!

Why do some people get all defensive when someone speaks of getting more when paying more? Yes, if someone stays at a deluxe hotel then they should expect more amenities then at the budget hotels. What is so wrong with that? That doesn't mean they are saying they are better then the people staying at the budget. They are simply saying they EXPECT more as they PAY more. Some of you sound like jealous children.

And some sound like the entitled. Does the YC deserve more then the GF? I would think, no matter how many gazillion dollars you spend, the sugnature resort would have more.

As to us lowly jealous children, we like the Mickey stuff just fine!!

Oh, no, is it "sticks & stones" time? I hope not.

Since everyone seems to be amused by toiletries, here's what the YC's Captains Deck suite had in its master bathroom (just look for the red capped items peeking out from behind the washcloth bunny): click here to view the toiletries. Wish I would have taken a better photo of the items for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Not entitled. That is what someone wants for free. The poster was just commenting on the fact that getting the most expensive suite at the YC didn't get her any better then staying at any other WDW resort. She didn't say she wanted what the GF offered. Just that she didn't even get better then the standard stuff. And yes when someone has to make fun of a poster simply because they do not agree with them then it makes them sound like a child. Gee, eeyore you hadn't even posted yet when I spoke of jealous children yet you tossed yourself right into that category. LOL!!! As far as the standard Mickey stuff, I can't use it. It makes my hair a mess and so does the Lord and Mayfair which is kind of lowly even for the GF. I bring my own and it so much better then the rest......... :smooth:

Am I the only happy idiot (perhaps old happy idiot?)who has long since decided what type of shampoo, soap, creams she likes to use and just throws them in her suitcase? Who needs Casswell & Massey or whatever when I have my Dial liquid soap and a cutsie pink puff?

I couldn't care less about the toiletries in the room, I'm not risking my vacation on an allergic reaction or a bad hair day.

(Okay, I'm really living a bad hair life, but I just love that pink puff.)

I really didn't mean to offend....and I'm certainly not jealous. I just get a chuckle out of the importance that some folks pay to what kind of toiletries are in a room. It's almost like they're grasping at anything that would justify what Disney charges for the rooms. "Oh, look! I've got a larger bottle of that cheap shampoo than a moderate resort person gets!" Face it, Disney charges by the size and quality of the accomodations and the attention to detail they pay to the theming.

I really don't think Disney chooses the toiletries by how much you spend, I think it's more a theme thing...ya know. For example: in the picture Janet2K was so kind enough to show, the regular ol' toiletries don't seem out of place at the YC suite. But the black/red/white bottles of things would look sort of mulish in the Victorian setting of a GF bath. I wouldn't be at all suprised to find the contents of the bottles you were speaking of to be identical....I'm sure the quality is.

Besides, don't most people like to bring thier toiletries from home so they can have what they're used to?....personally, I've got to have my Redkin. And to make my vacation special, I'll bring some good quality aromatherapy products....bubble bath, body wash, salts, oils, soap, etc...you know, the fun pampering stuff.;)

Well skiwee, we disagree. If one expects more then what's given, it seems one thinks that money entitles them to more. JMO. You also made comment about tossing my hat in to the post. It is against posting giudelines? Or skiwee's posting guidline? It would be hard to post if you had to be the OP all the time.

Just for reference...we stayed at the GF in June this year, RPC suite in the main bldg, and last year on our honeymoon, and the sewing kit is no longer. They told us they don't give them out anymore.... budget cuts. Sheesh. A $3 sewing kit.
