You all know who we are by now, so I won't bore you with the details :rotfl:

Our first full day .... We are up at stupid o clock, which is customary on the first day (very early it was still dark)! I get the coffee on and over two cups, and some juice we open our DIS Christmas cards, we get loads, thanks all ...

I promised you a view from our balcony once it got light, so here goes, I was shocked to discover that golfers were allowed to use my lawn :rotfl2:

So washed and dressed its off to the Magic Kingdom, in all the year we have been we have never seen the opening ceremony before, we were really impressed, the Mayor of Main Street gave his speech and was then joined by Mickey and the characters, who arrived by train, they were accompanied by family and some singers, it was a great start to the day. We get our first view of the Christmas tree and are suitably impressed, its huge, Main Street looks beautiful with the wreaths and garlands.

First stop is breakfast at the Main Street Bakery, we note afterwards that DISers like photos of food and promise to take as many as possible in future, we both get the bacon, egg and cheese croissant with coffee and it is very good. We then do a couple of rides, the revamped Haunted Mansion which is impressive, Pirates, Philarmagic and The Carousel of Progress, all together now "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow" ..... We decide to leave at about 1.30 and on our way out we bump into Claire (Fizz13) and her little ones, its a small world after all, we have a little chat before saying our goodbyes, we will have the chance for a good chinwag when we meet up at Epcot.

We head off to Downtown Disney for a spot of lunch at Earl of Sandwich, Ian gets the Tuna salas and I have the chicken ceasar salad, both are excellent. As we are here anyway it would be very rude not to visit Captain Jacks Margarita Bar and I get my first margarita of the holiday :cloud9: while Ian has a rum runner.

The reason we had to delay returning to our room was because Peggy (FeralPeg), Peggys Sweets and More was visiting our room to put up our tree, I had promised we wouldn't go back before 3.00pm to give her plenty of time. What a stunning job she did, a beautifully decorated tree, tree skirt and table cloth, lights around the photoframe, tinsel around the bed and furniture, a Mickey stocking and a present for us Giradellis drinking chocolate and Christmas cookies, as an extra touch she had left a trail of pixie dust from the tree to the front door, it looked beautiful - thanks again Peggy xx

After a quick drinkie on the balcony, those golfers were back on my lawn again !! Its off to MGM for what Ian has been looking forward to most The Osbourne Dancing Lights, we got there just as they switched them on, I admit I had a tear when the streets lit up, it was breathtaking, Ians mouth was opening and closing like a goldfish - so funny :lmao: The lights dance to a sequence of four different songs this year and we stay to hear them all, we both remember our manners and have a glass of wine and a bud from the castmember who was lugging them around the streets, we were concerned that he would be offended if we didn't.

We were both starting to flag a bit, our first day had been a long one, so its back to Saratoga, where Papa John delivers us magic in a box, better known as the works without olives washed down with some bud and wine.

Kev and Matt watch......

in the morning, it would seem that they had not moved all night, must have had one too many beers
when we got back at night, Kev seemed to have done a runner, Matt was in roughly the same spot, when we go for our last ciggie we discover Kev perched on the light.

what a lovely day,great photos:thumbsup2

Your room looks beautiful, Jules - nice view too. Ours was more carpark than fairway and I didn't think to take photos!!! :headache:

Osborne Lights were an absolute highlight for me - Samuel and I arrived just in time for them to start and loved it!!! I was like Ian - mouth opening and closing - just awestruck really... :goodvibes

Another great day... :thumbsup2

I wasn't that bothered about seeing the Osbourne Lights but I thought that they were very impressive and I loved it when it started snowing.

Sounds like a great day at MK and MGM

A great start to the holidays Jules :goodvibes Your tree looked lovely!!

Brilliant first day Jules. We saw the Osbourne Lights for the first time in 2006 and loved them:cloud9:

Another lovely day Jules. I love your Christmas tree and decorations, Peggy did a great job :santa:

It's nice to see that the drinking has began - and I must admit to never having had a Margarita before (whats in it ?), though I like the sound of the Rum Runner

I'm also gutted at not seeing someone giving booze out at MGM Studios - what a missed opportunity :rotfl2: I agree the Osborne Lights were lovely.
