Famous People You have met While at WDW

I think he does. We met at a mutual friend's funeral :(

I've never seen/met anyone famous at WDW but living in NYC I'd meet and run into famous people all the time.

Sorry to hear that.

Living in NYC, I can see meeting up with celebrities. I was there about 1-2 years ago for a concert at MSG. My DH & I took the LIRR in and spent the day there before the concert. Wound up at South Street Seaport (say that 5 times fast :teeth: ) and I could have sworn I saw the limo for the band we were going to see that night.

The closest celebs we have here is a sci/fi author (Peter David) and a friend of my DH's lives next door to Richie Blackmore and is friends with him.

BTW, I've seen your posts on other topics, you have two beautiful looking children :)

My DD and I chased John Stamos halfway around the WS one day....does that count? She with an empty baby stroller (ran off and left DH with the baby) and me with my camera snapping away at his backside...yeah, I know...pathetic but he is soooooooooo hot.

Must be a pain to have to go through all that. But I wonder, after reading some of the posts here that if it wouldn't just be easier to not draw attention to yourself and enjoy the parks like everyone else. Because when it comes right down to it if you use just glasses and a hat who would really recognize you when they are tring to have fun with the family.

I often think of that. It's gotta be hard being in the spotlight and trying to take some personal time with the family. Celebs are often recognized and bombarded by fans. It's a wonder they are able to take vacations. I do hope they are able to enjoy themselves though. Afterall, they are only human and deserve time to vacation with their families like the rest of us do.

I think, though, that if I ever saw a celeb at Dis, I would just look from a distance. I've met a lot of stars through the years at conventions (and have embarrassed myself to one star one year) and the excitement of meeting them is starting to wear off. It's not such a big deal to me anymore.

I saw Kevin Smith and his family at MNSSHP last week, outside of the Haunted Mansion. I didn't bother the guy, 'cuz...hey, family time is family time.

We rode the tram at Orlando Airport with Dee Snider on the 16th! :thumbsup2

I called my older kids (13 and 11) to tell them and they were like.....WHO??? So they put my ex on the phone and HE was excited. :rotfl:

Who is Kevin Smith?? Obviously I could be right behind him in line and never know he was a celebrity!

He's a filmmaker. He's the guy that did Clerks, Clerks II, Mallrats, Dogma, etc. He's not exactly for everybody (certainly not family friendly, LOL!) Some people may also know him from Jay Leno - he used to do bits for him where he'd take little road trips.

The wife & I ran into Robert Plant out side of the TOT in MGM while on our honeymoon in 2000. Since my wife is a HUGE Zeppelin fan, it really made for a magical moment.

We saw Kobe Bryant at Magic Kingdom on September 20th. We were sitting near the Liberty Belle and saw him walk by, looked like he was heading toward Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. He was carrying his new baby, the VIP guide was pushing his baby's stroller, and a few steps behind them was his wife, walking with their older daughter.

A lot of people refer to him as Silent Bob. His most famous movie is probably Chasing Amy which put Ben Affleck on the map. His last couple of films were flops with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez - Gigli and Jersey Girl.

He's one of my favorite directors:

Use to look like this (and when he is playing Silent Bob):

Now looks more like this:

Thanks

I used to live in DC and saw Ted Koppel, Tucker Carlson, Ted Kennedy, and Tim Russert all at Nat'l airport. We met Greta VAn Sustern at a mutual friend's party and while she annoys me on TV, she was so nice to my kids so she scores point with me for that.

Thanks to you and the others for filling me in on who Kevin Smith is. :confused3 But if I was behind him in line, I'd still be clueless ... as I would be for many celebrities, particularly the not-so well known ones.

Oooh! I love Greta! :) I used to watch Tom Brokaw play tennis all the time (what a super nice guy, taller and much better looking in person! LOL! oh, and he was a strong tennis player too) and my dd took tennis lessons with Susan St. James son yrs. ago-

I was told by a cm in MK that I had just missed Harrison Ford a few years back- DRATS!!!

We saw Kobe Bryant the week of the 18th too!

We were at Boardwalk, in one of the suites, for the anniversary in 1996. I was 23 and did not know who Michael Eisner was. He was in the suite across the hall from us and we got off the elevator and down the hall and he asked if this was our first visit and I went on to tell him how much I knew about Dinsey (cringe!) and then I asked him and he laughed and said "no, not my first visit either". I figured out who he was when he made a speech in front of the castle the next day! :rotfl:

We also were in the pool with all the Full House and Tool Time kids, they were all there for the anniversary ,along with Mr. Hottie, John Stamos and Bob Saget. They kept the pool open late for the kids and my sister (7 at the time) was able to stay and play with all of them!

Was it the party the 22nd? Because we saw him on the ferry from the MK to GF that night after the party. He was with two guys an older lady and a girl dressed up. We were the only ones on the ferry and then they came and got on and I kept thinking that guy has to be Silent Bob. We didn't say anything to them either. I know I wouldn't want people bothering me all the time. He even held the door open for us when we got back to the GF. Closest I have been to a celeb. :thumbsup2

My friend's sister just got back from Disney and said that she'd met Stephen Gateley from Boyzone (Irish band) in DTD...

I'm probably the only other person on here who has a clue who you're talking about! :rotfl2: Stephen is a massive, massive Disney fan. I was on a flight with him from Dublin to JFK a couple of years ago, he's a sweetheart.

You know I'm not sure I would even notice if a celebrity were smack in front of me....but I'm going to watch out for those plaid vests this trip coming up for sure.

Off WDW.....all these posts remind me of vacations on Martha's Vineyard where you can see 10-20 celebs in one week. We saw President & Senator Clinton numerous times - him running, playing golf, and in book stores - her shopping - way back when he was still pres and she was NOT having a good time.

On one of those vacations we were seated at dinner at one of our favorite restaurants next to Michael J. Fox & Tracy Pollan, their nanny and then three kids. My DH and I tried not to look too much in their direction, but their girls were adorable at about 3 years old and kept having to be taken to the potty. My inlaws and my kids had no idea who he was...so that helped. The next day we were at the Flying Horse Merry Go Round and Pollan came in with the kids and stood in line next to me. I about melted. She was just so normal....we tried to treat her that way and just said "hi".

We were in line at Mad Martha's Ice Cream shop one night and there was this pretty woman in front of me with the most gorgeous red hair. After we walked out I said to my DH and family who were with us....."I can't figure out how I know that woman........college, high school, summers on the Vineyard?" and some thoughtful member of my family said "you dingbat that's Dr. Kimberly Shaw Mancini from Melrose Place. DUH. She grew up in Marlborough, MA. I love Desperate Housewives....but I can't watch the show without thinking of Mad Martha's.......

And in the line of funny celeb situations.... I went to college and worked a clothing store back then with a currently very prominent CNN anchor. He was a very good sport then and now. We celebrated a milestone of sorts this past spring at our alma mater and he was finally able to join us. He had missed most of them in the intervening years because he was a bit busy. I spent a few minutes chatting with him and then went to take some more pictures, etc. When I crossed the room a few minutes later with a friend from my freshman dorm....she stopped dead in her tracks and said "OMG thats............ what is HE doing here?" She could not believe that he had been in our class. She had to cross back across the room several times just to check him out. I offered to introduce her, but she was too star struck - she couldn't speak. It was hysterical.

Oh yeah, I had dinner at a picnic table with family and friends at the beach in CT once with Mike Wallace. Let's just say he was not friendly.

And sadly, we were in a grocery store in Tisbury, MV one Sat getting provisions for a day at the beach when in walked JFK JR. He was so tall, handsome and his foot was in a cast. A friend who was with me practically fainted. We were in a hotel room in NYC the very next weekend when we heard the news that his plane had gone down in the waters off Tisbury near his mother's home. It was shocking to have seen him so recently and so very, very sad.

Sorry about that sad note and the digression.....
