You know I'm not sure I would even notice if a celebrity were smack in front of me....but I'm going to watch out for those plaid vests this trip coming up for sure.
Off WDW.....all these posts remind me of vacations on Martha's Vineyard where you can see 10-20 celebs in one week. We saw President & Senator Clinton numerous times - him running, playing golf, and in book stores - her shopping - way back when he was still pres and she was NOT having a good time.
On one of those vacations we were seated at dinner at one of our favorite restaurants next to Michael J. Fox & Tracy Pollan, their nanny and then three kids. My DH and I tried not to look too much in their direction, but their girls were adorable at about 3 years old and kept having to be taken to the potty. My inlaws and my kids had no idea who he was...so that helped. The next day we were at the Flying Horse Merry Go Round and Pollan came in with the kids and stood in line next to me. I about melted. She was just so normal....we tried to treat her that way and just said "hi".
We were in line at Mad Martha's Ice Cream shop one night and there was this pretty woman in front of me with the most gorgeous red hair. After we walked out I said to my DH and family who were with us....."I can't figure out how I know that woman........college, high school, summers on the Vineyard?" and some thoughtful member of my family said "you dingbat that's Dr. Kimberly Shaw Mancini from Melrose Place. DUH. She grew up in Marlborough, MA. I love Desperate Housewives....but I can't watch the show without thinking of Mad Martha's.......
And in the line of funny celeb situations.... I went to college and worked a clothing store back then with a currently very prominent CNN anchor. He was a very good sport then and now. We celebrated a milestone of sorts this past spring at our alma mater and he was finally able to join us. He had missed most of them in the intervening years because he was a bit busy. I spent a few minutes chatting with him and then went to take some more pictures, etc. When I crossed the room a few minutes later with a friend from my freshman dorm....she stopped dead in her tracks and said "OMG thats............ what is HE doing here?" She could not believe that he had been in our class. She had to cross back across the room several times just to check him out. I offered to introduce her, but she was too star struck - she couldn't speak. It was hysterical.
Oh yeah, I had dinner at a picnic table with family and friends at the beach in CT once with Mike Wallace. Let's just say he was not friendly.
And sadly, we were in a grocery store in Tisbury, MV one Sat getting provisions for a day at the beach when in walked JFK JR. He was so tall, handsome and his foot was in a cast. A friend who was with me practically fainted. We were in a hotel room in NYC the very next weekend when we heard the news that his plane had gone down in the waters off Tisbury near his mother's home. It was shocking to have seen him so recently and so very, very sad.
Sorry about that sad note and the digression.....
