Family Style vs Buffet (with infant)

I was told that children under 3 may eat FREE at restaurants (Buffet, all u can eat).

My concern is that toddlers may eat anything from the kid's corner at buffet style restaurants, but how about Family Style Resturant (e.g. Garden Grill)? I guess they will bring a platter of food to share, can we request to bring some food from kid's menu?

First - toddlers may eat ANYTHING from ANY part of any buffet, not just kids items.

About the family style, no personal experience, but it seems they are usually able to accomodate these types of situations.

Children under 3 may eat free at ANY all-you-can-eat restaurant in Disney. This includes buffets as well as "family-style" meals (even including meals like the Hoop de Doo Revue, luau, etc.). They can eat any of the food offered and will be offered their own plate (they needn't just share off your plate).

It is a great deal for the little ones - we are visiting again in March for ds's "right-before-you-turn-3" trip (we did the same with dd 3 years ago) so that we can take maximum advantage of free park admission and free meals for him!!

If you go to a place where they order off menu's you would have to pay for anything you would order for your child. We found that out when my 2 wanted a hotdog at prime time last year.

Thank you everyone. Let me refine my question (situation) here. I was told that toddlers under 3-year-old can:
1). eat FREE at any Buffet-style or All-U-Can Eat restaurants (as one Disney staff told me, "feel free to grab a plate and feed your little one.")
2). In Al la Carte (menu order), adult can always share his/her plate with the little one. Of course, if you want to order something for your toddler, you have to pay.

Since I have booked a few Family Style Character Dining (e.g. Garden Grill, Liberty Tree Tavern), they are considered All-U-Can-Eat category. I heard that the food are being served in a huge platter.

Since we have a party 4 adults + 1 todder (2-year-old), my question is: will they serve us ONLY a plate of Family Style Platter? Is it possible to request some items from "Young Gardener's Menu" for the toddler, or I have to pay for that if I made such request?

In other words, in a regular buffet, I can grab some food from "Kid's corner" (e.g. Macaroni and Cheese) and feed my toddler. Since at a family style restaurant, the servers are bring the plate to the table, so I wonder if my toddler can share adult's food only.

My wife and I had a little debate last night on this issue. I wanted to pay for a child dining plan (around $15 per day?) for my 2-year-old daughter, just to avoid troubles. However, my wife said it is not worthwhile as toddler is entitled to eat Free :rolleyes2

at CRT for breakfast - they brought my under three daughter a breakfast plate for no charge and that is a preplated meal. At Garden GRill my daughter had nuggets I think but were also no charge. If it is not a buffet or family style then you will have to pay for anything you order for your child.

At LTT, if it's dinner (which I've eaten there a few times), the kids all eat the same food as the adults. We each get a plate. They never offered a kid's menu to us.

At Garden Grill, since they have a kid's menu for lunch/dinner, then I'd assume you can order from it for your toddler. Just like at the Castle breakfast...it's all you can eat, pre-lated food, but they have a n adult plate and a kid's plate and that is what they bring the kids.
