Tuesday morning and we managed to get up at a decent hour(well most of us did). We had decided that we would go to MGM. 2 of the teens took advantage of the bus from the Poly, 2 people from the CA family decided to stay behind and meet up with us after some more rest(they also had a car). The rest of us piled into the mini-van and off we went.
We got to MGM about 9:30a.m. and headed straight for RnRC. We sent on person to get fastpasses for TOT and then we all got on RnRC(the little ones obviously didn't go on. They went to voyage of the little mermaid with Nan and Ca mom) We only had about a 5-10 min wait(most of the wait was just walking into the ride). This was my first time on the ride and I knew it was a rooler coaster but had no idea of what to expect. The take off was unbelievable! After I caught my breath, I was able to enjoy the rest of the ride. My sis lost her voice from screaming so loud! This is now one of my favorite rides!
After RnRC, we met up with the people that stayed behind for more rest(CA dad and nephew) We were all able to go on TOT. Again, another great ride! After our thrill seeking, we met up with everyone to do some kid things.
the 3-d muppet vision. Everyone really enjoyed this. Plus it was a good place to take a break and cool off. Our next ride would be the backlot tour. I had done this ride once in 89 when MGM just opened and we enjoyed it then and decided to try it again.
We had about a 20 min. wait. Of course just as we were to get in on the next ride they stopped everyone and said that ride was full and we would have to wait for the next ride(just a few minutes). Well, this worked out for us because since we were first in line, they asked 4 people in my family to help out in a show they were doing. My ds, dh, Nan(my mom) and my sis were all to take part in a battleship seen. This was a riot except for the fact that they had to wear rain suits and it was 95 out. I was able to tape the whole show and we have watched it several times and laugh every time we see it! I just wish they gave a copy of the finished tape with all the sound effects added in. We didn't have a good view of the televisions to film the final show.
From there we loaded onto the trams and completed the tour. The special effects with the tanker and fire and water is amazing. The little ones got a little nervous but were able to be reassured easily. I thought this was a worthwhile tour and would recommend doing it (if you have the time).
At about 1 we decided to leave the park. We knew we wanted to do the e-night so we wanted to be rested. Nan, CA mom, myself and the 3 little girls and CA nephew left in the van. The others in the party decided to stay and go on RnRC again. We went back to the resort for a swm and a nap which was much needed! Also managed to get some laundry done.
I always hear people say "write down where you park your car." I always think to myself--How could anyone lose their car? Well, about 2:30 I get a call from my DH saying that CA dad can't remember where he parked the car! Well, the heat made things worse and after a few screaming matches between CA dad and our sis they finally found the car(it took 2hours) They finally got back to the resort about 5pm and were worn out from the heat and were sunburned and weren't in good humor. CA dad's biggest advice for anyone is "Write down where you park because all the lots look alike!!" We adjusted our plans a little and decided we would wait til about 8 to go to e-night so everyone could unwind first. We had a brief sunshower in the afternoon that cooled things a little.
I thought that e-night was the best money we had spent. Nan volunteered to have the 3 girls sleep over at her room so we could take just the boys. This was the biggest help we had. We got to MK about 9p.m. which was really bad timing because of the parade. Thank God I knew that we could get our bracelets at the photo place at Spl.mtn. We got held up once with the parade but decided to just get something to eat to kill a few minutes. No line at the photo place. We were able to go on everything with little to no wait. I think the longest we waited was 5 min for space mntn. We rode most things at least 2x. Thunder mountain is much better at night(1st night time ride) We had the greatest time and were so glad we took the time to do this. We stayed until closing(1am.) So cool to be able to take a picture of the castle without anyone in the way. Something magical about walking around in an almost deserted park. E-night is another must do!!
I did see lots of people with young kids in tow. I'm sure everyone has their reasons for doing things but I can't see taking really small children to e-night(especially one that ends at 1am) I will also add that I know we were very lucky to have Nan willing to babysit because otherwise one of us wouldn't have been able to go)
