In Di$neyDollarle$$, bonneville_89 talked about "Family Restrooms:
A couple of things to keep in mind regarding the idea of "family restrooms" is that these are actually called Companion assisted restrooms at the parks, and are really just a bathroom large enough for a guest in a wheelchair or
scooter and someone to assist them if necessary.
They are not "family restrooms" with separate, smaller toilets/sinks for young children that some shopping malls and public facilities have available.
We visited wdw in late April with my wife in a wheelchair and had to use these facilities at MGM, EPCOT and MK. They are really a lifesaver for someone that has mobility problems and needs the help of a spouse or parent.
A few times we encountered what we felt was unnecessary use by a mom and daughter or a dad and son, who really should have gone into the adjacent men's or ladies rooms. Also some inpatient families knocked repeatedly as if that is really going to speed up the process.
These really are handicap facilities and there certainly are not many of them, so if you really don't have to use these bathrooms, I'm sure others at the parks and myself would be grateful if you used the normal restrooms that are also in this same area and leave these bathrooms open for those that really need them.
Below are the locations of the companion-assisted restroom facilities at each of the parks as listed on the wdw website:
