Family restrooms?

My 5 year old son and I are visiting WDW together next month. I am not comfortable allowing him to use the men's restrooms alone. Are there family restrooms? If so, where are they located?
Thanks!

We found them dispersed around the parks. I'm not sure, but I believe they are on the guide maps. There is a neat one in the waiting area of the Castle, one near Toon Town, I remember seeing one in Adventureland in MK too...

Here is a website with all of the places to find the companion restrooms:

In Di$neyDollarle$$, bonneville_89 talked about "Family Restrooms:

A couple of things to keep in mind regarding the idea of "family restrooms" is that these are actually called Companion assisted restrooms at the parks, and are really just a bathroom large enough for a guest in a wheelchair or scooter and someone to assist them if necessary.

They are not "family restrooms" with separate, smaller toilets/sinks for young children that some shopping malls and public facilities have available.

We visited wdw in late April with my wife in a wheelchair and had to use these facilities at MGM, EPCOT and MK. They are really a lifesaver for someone that has mobility problems and needs the help of a spouse or parent.

A few times we encountered what we felt was unnecessary use by a mom and daughter or a dad and son, who really should have gone into the adjacent men's or ladies rooms. Also some inpatient families knocked repeatedly as if that is really going to speed up the process.

These really are handicap facilities and there certainly are not many of them, so if you really don't have to use these bathrooms, I'm sure others at the parks and myself would be grateful if you used the normal restrooms that are also in this same area and leave these bathrooms open for those that really need them.

Below are the locations of the companion-assisted restroom facilities at each of the parks as listed on the wdw website:

At the Magic Kingdom Park, companion-assisted restroom facilities are at First Aid as well as at these locations:

The lower level of Cinderella's Royal Table
Splash Mountain
Mickey's Toontown Fair
Transportation and Ticket Center East

At Epcot, companion-assisted restroom facilities are located at all First Aid locations as well as:

FutureWorld East Block opposite Test Track
FutureWorld West Block opposite the Land
Near Canada
Near Morocco
Near Spaceship Earth

At the Disney-MGM Studios, companion-assisted restroom facilities are at First Aid as well as at these locations:

Opposite the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Opposite Star Tours
FANTASMIC!
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

At Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, companion-assisted restroom facilities are at First Aid as well as at these locations:

Safari Village opposite Flame Tree Barbecue
Harambe Village in the Mombasa Marketplace
Chester and Hester's Dinosaur Treasures in Dinoland

I think there are restrooms in the Baby Care Centers that he could use. That way, you would be right outside the door and you wouldn't have to worry. I know that the MK and AK Baby Care Centers have restrooms, but I'm not sure about MGM or Epcot's centers.

This issue often turns into an ugly debate and that is NOT the point of my suggestion. Many moms take thier young son into the woman's restroom with them and most people have no issues with this. Finding a compainion or baby center when a little one has to go is not always easy. I took my DS into the restroom with me at that age with no problems. Just know this is an option.

Personally, I have no problem with little boys in the ladies rooms as long as they're just in there to do their business and then leave. I think very few people would actually have a problem and even few would be brazen enough to say something to anyone about it, so you should feel ok about taking your ds into the ladies rooms. (They're usually big, noisy, busy places anyway so probably very few people would even notice, IMO). Now I could totally understand not wanting to take a little girl into the men's rooms, since urinals are usually not "private".

Just my 2c. I wouldn't worry about it if you can't find a companion rest room to use.

We were there last week and I took my 5 year old in the ladies restroom with me. I saw some older boys and did not think anything of it.
